Wow...

Quote
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush said Tuesday he takes responsibility for the federal government's failures in responding to Hurricane Katrina.

"Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government and to the extent the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility," Bush said during a joint news conference with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.

Now, I don't *hate* President Bush. But what I don't like is President Bush and his Administration's history of trying to feed us floor wax and telling us it's gruel. Throughout this Katrina disaster, President Bush and his Administration has kept saying "we're not going to play the Blame Game right now". Why? Because the blame rests mostly on President Bush and his Administration. I'm glad this time President Bush is gonna take one for the team. That's what being a President... a leader... means.

Wow... can't believe he did something like that, but it does make me a little more happy with him.  It takes guts to finally amit something is his fault.  Though as much as it's his fault, others are at fault as well.   Bush wasn't always the present and what happend if this went down a few years before he got into office, would it be all Clintons fault?

I really think that this isn't about blame anymore, it's nature, it was a mistake, and a lot of people paid for it in the wrong way.  The worse thing the government did was take so long to get in there to help, and preventing people with boats from going in to help save those in there that they could.  It was no longer about Government power, it was about all the lifes within that city that needed help.

As long as those going in knew the risks of the people with guns that were shooting and how dangerous the water is... than they knew what they were doing... putting their lifes out there to help people in need.   Isn't that what we call heros, those who put others first to save as many lifes as they can?   Maybe the people with the boats could get bullet proof vest and stay inside their boats... maybe the government could of worked with them on ideas on how to go through the streets and where the dangerous points of guns were.

I just think the resuce could of been held better.   I don't fully blame Bush, though he does have a part in it, and I'm glad he realizes that and amits it.
