For those who are keeping an eye on the weather, you may have heard that Maryland and DC are getting hard-hit by a lot of tropical moisture. How hard? Sunday night alone, we got our usual total for the entire month of June. Given today's rain, this should be the wettest June on record, and the records here go back to the 19th century. The joke was that there were unconfirmed sightings of animals marching up Connecticut Avenue NW two by two. A couple of Metro stations have been shut down for the last few days, and commuting has been a nightmare across the region for the past few days. The rest of the week doesn't look any better: we aren't likely to see drier conditions until the weekend at least, and even that's no guarantee.
Thankfully, my part of town isn't flooded, and everything's working at the office, so this is (thankfully) more a nuisance to me personally than anything else. But I don't know how long that's going to last if this rain keeps coming down.

Rain rain go away? Yeah I totally hear ya on that one! I live in Mount Airy, Md (part of Carroll County), and am surrounded by farms whose ponds are overtaking their driveways and houses in some cases. IT'S CRAZY! I'm so sick and tired of RAIN! Plus I'm getting kinda annoyed that everytime I go out to get the mail, it's all soaked and soggy and the ink is running in some cases...our mailbox won't stay closed heh. Oh rain, I'm starting to get kinda depressed here, go away! I need sun, how am I ever gonna use my pool?! lol

We got it pretty bad here in tri-state area. My dad and I went out to see my sister and her new baby (my mom had already gone out for the week) and it was just pouring buckets the whole time!

Here's how bad it's getting in the DC area. Last Monday, we got 6 and a half inches of rain in 24 hours. Our normal total for THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JUNE is about 3 and a quarter inches. So in one day, we got double the rainfall we normally get in a full month. Needless to say, that set a record for that date: the previous record for that day was 1.60 inches of rain. The year it happened? 1870, and that's not a typo. For those with a historical bent, Ulysses S. Grant was the President the last time we got that much rain on that day, and--if you'll pardon the expression--we blew that record right out of the water. We have two more days to make that record all the more unassailable, and they're calling for more rain tomorrow and Friday.
I swear, any meteorologist in this town who even UTTERS the word "drought" this summer is going to get a talking-to.

Send some to parts of this state! MN is so schitzophrenic...parts are under water regulations, but last month there was flooding in places. Yeeeeah...weirdness.

Weird, considering Klork lives in one of the normally rainiest parts of the US... not like here, were it never rains between May and October. Fog, though. It's amazing how much rain the east is getting. Been seeing that on the news.
