In this episode the Turtles are some how sent to the Future.... the animation style has changed, though the voices and the writers I believe are the same.  So let's hope for another GREAT season of TMNT!

Please post your reviews here, what you think... like... dislike....  about the show.   What differences do you notice?  Does this first episode give you hope or take away your hope for the season?   Who is afraid that they might jump the shark?

I will reply to this on Sunday after I see it.  * Still envy all who get to see the series on Saturdays!!*

I dunno... I'm still un decided...

*edit, more detailed*

As far as I can tell... it's a guy.

I felt as I was watching it, that any FAN could have written this episode.

I hope the turtles regain their weapons soon. The fight scenes reminded me too much of the old show with them only using inanimate objects.

The Animation is DEFINETLY cheaper. I'll post a screen shot when I get home...

Why does every network feel that super heroes need a kid side kick for kids to identify with?

The goofy sound effects, such as when Don(Leo?) touched the back of the robot and they dissapeared have GOT to go....

'It's Ninja Time'? The only thing they could have said worse was Turtle Power!

It just seems a simpler series. Networks don't give kids enough credit, and rely too much on this out dated ratings system to decide what is a hit, and what isn't...

I feel not only do we need to write to Playmates, who is probably the primary funding source for the show, to change things back after season 6, but we also need to get the ordinary kids and viewers who don't like the change as well to write in.

If my sense of the new show continues after a few eps, I have a feeling it's not going to last well beyond Season 6...

Again... I dunno....except for a surprise or two, it just seems kind of basic so far....

Yes, I was afraid of that.  I worry what the fight scenes will look like-- those were some of the things that impressed me about the series when I first started watching it-- the actual fight scenes-- they looked like fights!

My thoughts thus far cross posted from my own livejournal"

So my thought on the new Turtles Fast Forward show.

The beginning was cute with Mikey and Raph fighting over the remote and Splinter sending ALL the guys packing and saying he needs to watch "his soaps" *chuckles* Yet there was no clue, nor no build up to them being sent to the future so it felt a little confusing and rushed when it happened... like Mikey just pressed the TV remote and ZOOM the Turtles are 100 years into the future.

I actually liked Cody thus far. I wasn't certain if I would... I usually tend to find teenage sidekicks to super hero's annoying, but thus far he seems like a creditable character and a good mix of Casey and April's personalities.... he kind of reminds me of Shadow if she were a boy and 100 years in the future *laughs*

Is the cop guy going to become a re-occurring character?? It was a cute ending today with him taking credit for the Turtles defeating the alien smugglers, but if they do that EVERY week it will get old after about two episodes *laughs* The Turtles have enough actual bad guys to worry about... hopefully the Police were simply so they had someone to chase them for this opening episode.

The animation was alright. Naked Turtles throughout most of the episode made me like it a lot more then I might have *laughs* The guys are so slender now its odd and the animation looks a lot cheaper. As long as they keep the coloring correct and there are no glaring errors it will be passable.

Leo was very much in the background for this entire episode, while Raph was extremely prominent and loud. I know I have been complaining for two seasons that Raph has not been getting enough attention, if they have to push Leo into the background in order to give it to him I will not be happy. Leo is far too dynamic of a character to just sit around and be silent, as he was for most of this episode... honestly that was the one thing that REALLY annoyed me.

I can also assume that the Foot are completely gone? Considering Cody has the Shredder's armor and I don't see him having that unless they were.

Over all it was enjoyable enough to watch again next weekend and continue to try to make up my mind exactly what I think. Honestly I lot will depend for me how Leo's character is handled in the next two episodes.

I also miss Leo's actual katana... *laughs* And I will continue to whine about this fact no matter how lameo I seem Wink

Only time will tell.

I honestly think after this things will go back to normal so I really don't think writing in will need to be done, 3 things happened today that hinted this:

1.  When Cody stated the time window accidently became a time machine it's clear that it can happen again.
2.  Don clearly stated they could work on it to go back home.
3.  The hovershell.  Don was absolutly amazed by it and Cody specifically stated Don created the blue prints he just built it, Don had never seen it before and you can tell when he asked Cody if he created it, so it's obvious they have to go back for Don to create it.

As for my opinion so far I really like it and I hope things only get better.

I'm not loving it so far, but I'm not hating it either so I guess I'm happy.  *L*

Everything I have to say has already been said I think.  The animation definitely looks cheaper, the fight scene we've seen so far... well I'm hoping the fact that they don't have their weapons that made it kinda "eh" though it reminded me a lot of Jackie Chan, and while Cody isn't bugging me so far I hope it stays that way.

I did think the whole "la la la, things are happy and good POOF we're in the future" was kind of lame.  I couldn't help but think "that's it?!"

[Edit]  Oh and I really like the robot.   Very Happy/Big Grin

Okay-- I do not like-- repeat, DO NOT LIKE HOW CODY IS PLACED CENTER STAGE AND JUST IN FRONT OF THE TURTLES IN THE OPENING CREDITS!!!!!!!!!!!

The title says NOTHING about a KID!!!!!!!!!!  That part bites, and bites hugely!

Most of the show was okay, I did not mind most of it-- just the robots (well, loved Mikey's "Thanks, Robby!" line)-- Fights could have been better-- why are they different sizes????-- In ALL those aliens I haven't seen one human, is the human race pretty much gone?-- Fights could have been better-- Splinter nakie, I had no problem with-- fights could have been better-- at least Splinter got to do something for once.

I'm not sure about the kid.  But I am certain of one thing, he has NO place in that opening title card, and if that is their intention, to make him the fifth turtle, then I don't know how much into the season I will be watching.  But it's only the first episode.

I think I'll write 4Kids about that opening...

Oh, and the fighting could have been better.

I got to see half of the episode, and without sound.
(it was on at 9, not 10 as it was listed here, and I couldn't figure out Aig's tv completely.)
<shrug>
I don't care for the step down in animation quailty. They can call it what they want, "being more stylized" or whatever, but when you watch something without sound, the look of what you're seeing becomes even more obvious. It was way too blocky for my tastes, too many simplified lines.
In preparing for my TMNT costume work for San D Con, I watched a number of the other cartoon episodes without sound seeking certain views--and the new stuff just doesn't hold up the same.
I'll hope maybe after the first episode the new staff would have "settled in" and it'll get better.

The story? It was so easy to follow, you didn't need the sound.
I haven't decided if that is good or bad. Especially after missing the first 15 minutes.

Based on my incomplete experience, I'd say I'm neutral about it. But I don't think it's a good thing that I wasn't upset by the end because I missed stuff and couldn't hear anything.

All I can really say...LAME.  I agree, the animation was cheaply done (I'm not a fan of the block, Batmanish style) and the story line...umm...no, I think anyone of us could have thought of something better for the first episode.  They could have done SO much more with it and they blew it.  The whole "It's Ninja time?"  Come on, I do agree, they may have as well yelled "Turtle Power."  Hopefully, that's just a once in a series thing like the "Turtles forever" thing during episode 3 of the first season.

Cody I feel is almost a bad RP character who was given god-like intelligence with a flaw.  Also, did anyone else ask "where's Cody's parents in all this?"  Maybe it's just me being silly but I don't care what year it is, I would not be letting a kid be in the hands of a robot, especially if this kid is that smart.

I will say, it was amusing at parts.  I mean the whole "I pitty the fool" caught me off guard and I laughed when I realized where I heard that.  I did like the very begining with the whole "sibling rivalry" part but the minute they got to the future threw me dramatically.  They really could have led into the whole "going through time" thing a little better rather than skip right into the future.

Well, I just hope it gets better for everyone's sake.  Admittedly, I hated NT:TNM and with the bad animating and sound effects, it's ranking down there with NT:TNM.  We can only hope at this point that it gets a LOT better.

I give it a 8 out of 10. I did like it, and it really wasn't all that bad, but there are some things that just didn't settle well with me. Perhaps it will later with more episodes.

The theme song has got to go. There's no question of that. The sound effects weren't really needed, and most were out of place. One or two did actually make it funny, and was placed accordingly.

The animation is okay, but it's like an old sweater. Some worn places are showing through. I don't understand why animation studios were switched now. Cheap doesn't always mean necessarily good. And what's with them being different heights? It never mattered before.

I liked Cody. I liked his character. He's not badly done at all. That's one of the things I was afraid of.

I agree with you, Wolf. Leo was very shoved into the background in this episode. I didn't like it one bit. Hopefully they do better with him in the rest of the episodes, or I will be a very unhappy camper.

I can't say I was upset Leo was in the background, I mean he got half a season where all anyone talked about was him.  I love Leo but the other guys deserve some of the spotlight too.

The references seemed to run rampant in this episode, I did notice that.  Sometimes they'll throw one in there but I counted three:

"Ruh roh!"  (Scooby Doo)
"Come with me if you want to live."  (Terminator)
"I pity the fool"  (YAY Mr. T!!!)

And of course there was the Bebop lookalike that I'm sure no one missed.   LOL   I have to wonder if they weren't throwing him in there knowing ahead of time that there was going to be some resistance to this show.  So far they've sort of folded their oldschool references in but it seemed weird to see one in the first episode of a new season.

My turn at an attempt to review...

Thanks Shredder for sending it to me!

Ok first of all I'm going to say it could of been worse.  Like they could of change the animation type to match the Power Puff Girls, they could of changed all the voices on us, and they could of got some bad writers in there.  Though for now the series isn't animated nearly as good as it was... but if we didn't have from 2003 to last season of GREAT animation, would you be having as many problems with it?   It's a down grade and hopefully we can make our voices heard and get that fixed... but don't let it destroy the series for ya.

Now for the show itself.   Loved the fight at the beginning, and how Mike won Raph Wink  and how the others jumped in... of course Splinter's win was perfect.   I felt the animation there was even better, I think the change of animation is trying to show the change of the series... to Fast Forward.

I saw the change right away, it felt weird but I adjusted and figured it would be explained soon enough.  True I felt it was a little rushed, but I think they wanted to use this episoide to give us a clue of what the future was like.   Different air, gravity, translators, aliens, slavery, flying cars, and so on.   It wasn't so much as looking for a plot as in showing us where the next season is going to be.   And I do know that one of the Villains was introduced today (which is a voice actor I met at Katsucon).  So I was paying attention to his character.

Sadly though I found mistakes in the first episoide... when Raph walks over and picks up his mask, the mask next to it was red as well.  Another found mistake is when they LEFT the building to go after Mikey, they left the Robot behind.  Though all of a sudden the Robot is there to give Mikey his much needed stuff?

Cody...  Cody....   what can I say about Cody....   *cough*  Carter *cough*   Ok, step back...  I might be rushing in... he's not fighting and hasn't started to show views of each Turtle.  Though he's got the Donatello part down pack (Wow so did Carter).  IF Cody stays as he is, and doesn't well become someone the turtles rely on to save them all the time, I may like him and see him as a Keno character.  I CAN Live with that.  But I can't live with another Carter.

Why do I hate Carter oh so much?   I'll tell ya why, he became the only hero of the show.  In every episoide after he entered, he'd save the Turtles.  He could do EVERYTHING the others could do.  He had the jokes like Raph and Mike, the brains like Don, and would take charge.  He was all four Turtles in one, and took over the show.  He was annoying, and wasn't really needed in the series.  I HOPE THAT CODY DOES NOT BECOME THIS!

Right now he reminds me of a young Bruce Wayne with LOTS of money, though instead of having a HUMAN butler he's got a robot.   I hope that he gets more dept to his character, and we learn of his folks and grand folks.  Anyone else notice how they're not worried about changing the past by teaching the Turtles of the Future?

Ok... one of my favorite things that no one else has pointed out... was coming back from the ads Mikeys... "And now Back to the Future with Fast Forward"  I loved hearing "Back to the Future" hehehehe  that caught me and got me to laugh.

Right now I'm ok with the series, I like it enough to keep with it through the season and I prey that everyone else stays with it too... remember... if this season fails... we COULD loose any hope of a future season.  Sometimes you have to go with the stuff that isn't so great, to let the market know it's worth it to put out that AWESOME thing that they may be planning for us.  So don't loose hope for the show, just stick with us.

Of course I want to see more spotlight on the others, but not at the expense of another character that's just important. Leo barely said or did anything. He might as well just have been a statue through the whole episode for all he did. *sighs* I just didn't like how underused he was.

If Leo sat idle the whole season I'd be mad but I have a feeling that isn't going to happen.  I don't find any fault in some other turtle getting seen for a little while.  I've never been a huge fan of Mikey because I really don't feel like they've really done enough to "get into" his character so I'd love it if we got a bunch of Mikey centric episodes.  Maybe give him some good serious time.  Ooooh!

I can not agree with this.

Leo scenes:
- Took part in the fight for the remote
- Got the others around him to ask who could of attacked them.
- Was first to point out they were there for two minutes and all that crap happened to them.
- Was trying to fight to help Raph when they thought the robot was attacking him, though cleary said he can't move.
- Was the one to THANK the robot for the help with the breathing and all... and asked for the Robot's name.
- Helped hold Raph back from a useless fight with the robot.
- First to speak up after hearing they're in New York and "aliens live here and cars fly"
- Was the one to point out that they also grew up with the rule "The outside world is too dangerous"
- Yelled for Cody to watch out before zooming the police car
- Fought bad guy with ladder
- Thanked Cody for letting them bunk there.

For an episoide where they got all four Turtles, Splinter, and introducing new characters I think they did very well with it... balancing things out.  Seeing as how last seasons we even had one episoide where not one of the other Turtles was in it besides Leo... Raph deserved some forground time.   And really none of it was out of character, so I don't have any complaints about what they did with characters in this episoide.

BTW a few things I forgot my other post...
- anyone else notice the Cheetara (Thundercats) look alike alien?
- I don't really care too much for Cody's voice, he sounds too old...  hopefully that fixes I remember the first episoide of 2003 I wasn't found of the Turtles voices.
- The Robot is voiced by Marc Thompson!!!!  (So Casey is in the series Wink )
- Christopher Adams is the voice of Cody Jones, seems to be a new VA seeing as how I can't find him anywhere on the web.  (Please not the copy I have of it comes up really blury so I might be spelling his name wrong).
