Actually, it's not just a "Texans can handle the heat, New Yorkers are wimps" kind of thing. They've done medical studies, and it turns out Texans can actually sweat more than folks in the Northeast. No joke! Northeasterners don't sweat as much, which makes them more prone to heat injuries.
So Northeasterners aren't wimps: we just regulate our temperatures differently.

I wonder what they'd say about northern midwesterners...it must be a climactic adjustment thing. Northeast is far cooler and damper than the inland parts of Texas...though not nearly as cold as the northern midwest gets, but it's a dry, dry cold when winter hits up here.
