Hey everyone,

I want to put up a warning for those of us who make and put videos up on youtube.  Now about a month ago one of my anime videos was removed, but I thought TMNT videos would be safe from this.  They're not!   Yesterday two of my music videos were removed from youtube:  "Donatello's Mission" and "Raph Alert" were both taken down because 4Kids Productions reported them!

This means we could watch our other videos go as well.  Sad/Down

Sad really, cause I see music videos more as an ad for the Turtles, to help get the Turtles out there more to bring other people's interest t his way.  You don't get a full episoide out of music videos and you don't usually get the story line either that's going on, music videos change that to match the songs... and even the group singing gets more people interested in their band through music video (DBZ Music videos is what got me to buy my Linkin Park CDs).   So in away music videos help both the artist and the show.   Though they don't see it that way, and have started to strike.  I won't be putting anymore TMNT videos up on youtube than what is there now, because of this.

Guess it's back to slipping the anime into the videos so that they can be uploaded on AMV *pout*

They reported everyone in that had anything new TMNT up, even Kaz's AMV's went sadly.  I did a search and I can't find anything new school TMNT any more.  Sad/Down

How weird!  I just finally joined them, and I watched someone's music video (the new theme with clips from the whole Turtles in Space arc)-- I loved it!

Brother.  You'd think they'd have better things to do than troll for fan stuff-- no one is making any money on them!

I just looked some of my music videos with 4Kids TMNT clips in them are still up.   Annoying that they went after all of them though, it's like "Hey we're letting people know you're out there!!!!!   FREE ADS!"    Rolling Eyes

I can understand taking down the videos that are actually episodes, because with that they can lose money (I mean who wants to buy DVDs or VHS tapes when you can watch for free, you know?)  But also attacking AMV's I think that was just going overboard.  And the quesiton that comes to my mind is, why now?  They have five seasons aired/airing and there never really was a problem until now.  :/

I agree taking down the show, I always encourage people to buy the DVDs so I refuse to even put clips up from the show with the words unless it's part of the music video.

It's really sad that they're going so far as to remove AMVs right now.   I think they're doing it, cause they're just realizeing how much TMNT stuff was getting up there... youtube isn't that old of a site.  Not sure if they'll go after any other video hosting sites.

Aw man, what a bummer! Betcha even Lisardo's is gone now!

Oh well, I think MySpace has been having much better luck with their AMV hosting. Infact, I've favorited several Smallville projects on there as well.

I don't know.  The more I read about the stuff that goes on in the hollywood world, the more I'm begining to loathe it.  They are taking away more and more of our personal freedoms, thus making piracy worse.  All the more reason why I hope my secret project actually does become a success... I've just got to find people I can trust to work on it and won't steal the idea..

Edit - Also, I saw a wiki article on Alfred Kahn, 4Kids CEO.  There must be somethnig that dissapears in the mind when you reach the level of CEO.  You know, the one that says changing this and that would be a good idea to appeal to mass audiences.  This is the same thing that ruins movies like Batman and Robin.  Hmm, Mastercard wants a product placement, lets put in one of their cards with a bat symbol, use their slogan as a joke, and place it right in front of the camera.  Brilliant!'

Yup!  They took down one of mine too!  I got an email from YouTube from 4Kids saying "copyright infridgement".  Pssst....tho I've discovered another, less popular place to host vids than YouTube.

You know what?  I take back some of what I said.  Sone on another board mentioned something I didn't think about.  They must have been getting ready to go after a major copywrite violator, say, someone distributing fake toys...  but because the courts would say, '" So you want to go after them, why don't you go after these youtube people as well?"  They have to go after everyone.

I still think he's off his rocker replacing a great Japanese theme with Rap Music, a long with some of the other changes.....but at least I can  forgive them for that now Happy/Smile.

And this may be what is going on, as Shredder pointed out.
We won't like it, but there's always the problem with copyright and trademark law.
Even if we are NOT making any money in any way on these things, we're still techinically a no-no.
And if companies don't prove they are policing their rights, then they can lose them and the things become public domain.
Now of course, many would cheer if certain things became public domain, but the reality is, the corporations want their money. And their going to protect their stuff, and it's sad, but it's one of those necessary evils to protect all creators out there.

Hm...mine has stayed up just fine, so have a number of others...I wonder if it's the keywords...I didn't have 2003, 2k3, fox, 4kids, or new as keywords, for instance.
