Pretty fun little episode there, probably because it's getting into the series and the shock has worn off on me. Slightly. The first ep, I didn't know how to react, but now it seems the writers are getting more comfortable. Still has some silliness I can do without, but this ep was pretty good to sit through. Okay, other than the obvious LotR spoof and Wild West C.O.W. Boys of Moo Mesa (a Ryan Brown comic book original), there was a slight nod, or even similarity to a scene from The Wizard of Oz in this episode. Did anyone catch it? I did. It involves Don.

My favorite part was the wild west background. There was even a scene where Mikey was on the piano.
Personally, I'd rather see Mikey play a set of drums & tympani.

Nuts! I forgot to set my VCR to record this as it was shown here at 4:30 AM because of being preempted by baseball yesterday. Now I can't tell who was right-- I've read the opinion of one person who said "that's it, they've killed the show for me-- no more of this" and on the other extreme, someone who absolutely LOVES it.
*sigh*

I personally think anyone who says this episode killed the show for them is well.... taking it a little too seriously and this is coming from me... a person who is often accused of taking Turtles to seriously *laughs*
I honestly compare this episode to earlier episodes such as Monster Hunter, The Golden Puck and All Hallows Thieves. It was a fun romp. There honestly was nothing too serious about it, it was full of amusing in-jokes, but the characters were pretty much dead on and it made me laugh out loud at least 20 times while I was watching it.
I am just coming to believe there are a lot of people that just hate Fast Forward. No matter what they do they are determined to hate the show. There are also people that can't seeing the guys be silly at all. I know a lot of people that hate the Monster Hunter and Golden Puck episodes from the previous seasons, I really like them. I like having amusing episodes that make me laugh to sit down and watch after along day.
I still don't think FF is going to be as amazing as the previous seasons... unless something huge changes I just don't see it having the same serious, jaw dropping quality that the last few seasons have built up to by the end. But I also don't think it is destorying the fandom, nor the worst thing to ever happen to Turtles. I can watch this season with amusment and honestly I find it more well done and truer to character then the original cartoon.

I completely agree Mibu, I admit at firts I was worried that it would just kill everything and that this would be it but Im honestly and seriously loving it so far, adn liek we discussedon LJ it's only been the first 3 epis and we have no idea what we're instore for next, btu Im seriously now hoping for the best in this season. I too am enjoying the humor and silliness side of the guys, even though its more laid back than the other seasons as you said its good to just watch and get a good laugh at things and see the guys enjoying themselves as well as kicking shell

So far, I am not loving the change in direction for this series. And I'm not totally hating it either...as I've said before, I think it's not nearly as good as previous seasons have been, but it's still far better than most of the cartoons out there.
There are definitely many people who decided that the season was going to suck, long before they saw it. Some may change their minds as the season progresses, many won't. *shrugs* Their loss. If they want to let their closed mindedness get in the way, that's their problem, right?

This has so far been my favorite episoide of the season. I enjoy showing how the characters are adjusting.
Leonardo had a great fight scene at the beginning. It was different to hear him joke so much durning the training, that's something I hear more from Mikey than Leo. Though I guess Leo was having a blast knowing it wasn't a real fight.
Michelangelo is deff enjoying his time in the future with all the cool stuff. He has a smaller scene in this episoide, which is cool, cause he's had a Lot of episoides where he's the lead character. Though of course that doesn't mean he didn't have any good scenes. I like in the fight scene where he pointed out how he always wanted to do one of those moves. That was a lot of fun!
Raphael has not come to like the future, he is finding all the tech stuff annoying. He seemed ok with it in the last episoide though when he got his sais. Though I can see him getting annoyed, though I hopeing to see the clip we saw in the ad where Raph goes "The Future stinks" and the computer replied "No that's just your arm pits". I would of loved to have seen Raph's reply to that.. of course that would of been destroying the computer like he did any how. I think he was a bit rude towards Cody, though I think he's the one who's the most home sick and is just lashing out.
Donatello is deff getting a lot of front time with this season so far, being the brains he's connecting with Cody and the future the most. And he was the one who saved the day this time, more so than Cody. So I was happy to see that. If any of the Turtles is adjusting the best in the future it's him. He's got a lot of toys around him.
Cody is ok, so far. Though once again is the target of the bad guy... with wanting the code to break into O'Neil Tech. Now he's going to start training under the guys, let's hope he doesn't start falling down the path of Carter (still my #1 fear). Though the training will be good for him when the guys leave, so that he can defend himself when trouble comes his way.
I will also have to say I LOVE the inside jokes they've been putting in the series for us. It's not like they've stopped with it, and it's not like they just started doing it either. We've had now a nod to Krang, a nod to Rocksteady, a nod to Channel 6 April O'Neil, and now a nod to Bebop. Those are all great things for us fans of the original series. And now they do a nod towards one of their own artist, Ryan Brown by putting his the Cowboys which was GREAT!! I loved that. Now there's the cross over in tales and a cross over in Fast Forward. This is something that will keep the show interesting to me, as long as they keep doing it. It's amusing and a great way to show that they know there's fans out there who are not just the kids watching Turtles for their first time.
True the character design is not on my favorite list. Though if this was the design they had back in 2003, would we be complaining today? I'm going to keep watching the show and giving it a chance. At least for the most part the series animation is smooth and there aren't too many flaws. (yes more than there has been with the past 4Kids seasons though).
Pet peeve with series: Stop elecuting Splinter!!!!!! This is the second time he's taken a shock, and I'm not a fan of that kind of attack...

Well, speaking for myself-- cause I cannot speak for others, even those who share my views-- my concern was the reason behind WHY they went in this direction. If I understand the story correctly, Laird had planned on this direction for the sixth season, and the fifth would have started with the Mystic Warriors. But it was presented as "oh, we need to improve ratings! Let's do this and that!" That really bugged me a lot! That, plus the "ooh, too dark-- let's lighten it up with yucks and stuff! Stand alone stories!" Well, that made me cringe.
NOW-- after being told that the mystic stuff would be on DVD and not TV, we find it's on TV (to a limited audience!), and the guy at 4Kids told me in email that they haven't decided yet if they're going to release the episodes on DVD-- well, it just leaves a hole for me.
I still have trouble with the animation. Everything is too bright and shiny. As for "stand alone episodes," I like character development, and story development, and lil plot bunnies that don't seem important in one episode, only to return later as something important-- and most of all, I loved the fact that it always in the end was about family. I HOPE they do not continue this trend of not using Splinter except as a one-note joke of fortune cookie sayings and soap-opera addictions. And I have to admit, their training Cody-Stu rubs me the wrong way. April didn't start getting any "training" until later...
Plus, yes, I like the dark stuff, as well as the humor. I don't mind the humor! But if it's just ALL humor all the time, then it's not the series that captured my attention and brought me back to the Turtles in particular and comic books and such in general.
Yea, some people take stuff too seriously. I hope I am not one of them, and I'm certainly going to watch (stupid baseball!). I wanted to see this episode to judge for myself-- ah well, they'll show it again in a few weeks.
But forgive me if I moan every now and then. It's going to happen I'm afraid.
OOO-- edit-- I forgot to say I don't hate the show-- I just need to get used to it. The writers and the same voice cast give me hope.

Yes, at least we have the voices...the images need fixing though this ep left me as flat as before. the Moo Mesa gag was funny though, them playin cards and stuff. But it was only momentarily. If Raph wanted peace and quiet to read why didn't he just go to his room? I assume that's where he went after the whole ep...or the bathroom by the looks of it. I dunno, I ain't holdin high hopes for TMNT on TV...it's dying. the only thing that could rescue it, is the previous version to return

Hehe, I'm actually enjoying it. I tend to laugh at some of the stuff, like the villains and the story is rather predictable, but it is geared toward kids, after all. I think the TMNT are well drawn, in spite of the often choppy animation, and poor Splinter at times looks like someting from a bad copy of Picasso, but the lines they say, and yes, some entertaining moments, like Raph reading and Mike quipping about Raph's lips moving, and them being in the old West and playing cards, hehe... I'm quite willing to continue watching it. It's charming and still makes Saturday mornings fun.

I thought this one better than the last two. Heh. A jokester Leo is not. His in the beginning with the leprechaun fight were silly and corny, but I had to laugh because of that. Nice to show Raph reading again. They did that once in season one, with the first part of "Shredder Strikes Back". Chicken fries? o_O Did I miss something? When did chicken become fries? Donny's getting all kinds of spotlight. He really saved the day here. I think that Dunn and this Sh’okanabo character are one and the same. Both seem to have the same build, and mannerisms that I noticed. I give the episode 9/10.
