Just judging from what I've seen, I can't help but wonder what it was.

Kevin seems very down to Earth, the anti-Hollywood type working in Hollywood, laid back and not caring much about anything.

Peter on the other hand seems more confined.  Dosn't talk unless talken too, but when he does is very nice and approachable.  More clean cut than Kevin is...but I don't see him as the 'lets go for a drink on the town with the boys' type.

I think the main reason is they both wanted to take the turtles in different directions, and that was pretty evident with Kevin Eastmans horrific Body Count series.  Ugly art, and terrible comic, IHMO.  Definetly not the direction the turtles  should be taken.  Peter definetly seems to have more control over the direction the turtles should be going.  But  I think if I'm right about him shutting himself off from everyone while not at work, might lead to stress.  This might be why he feels the need to put his heavily worded political comments in the book.  It's a case of the 'never write a letter in anger' syndrome.

To sum it up simply, Kevin is the Jay Leno, Peter is the David Letterman Wink

What do you think caused the breakup of the fantastic duo?

What was so bad about Body Count? I loved it, I took it as a silly one shot series. I love the Biz's artwork as it is. The story was eh...but it's the visuals I liked the best.

I think Peter's screwed the WHOLE thing up...he ruined it. WTF with April being a drawing? COME ON! All of a sudden she's not REAL after ALL these years?
and all this stupid donnie being tiny, raph being a carnatosaur/gamera crap...ugh...it sucks...and Mike, he's a dope for shagging miss princess witch.
And they HAD to put hte nexxus in it...ugh...

I think kev would have done better...they had different ideas, or Kevin just wnated to move on because he wasn't gonna get his ideas on paper if he stuck around so he bailed.

I have no idea but all that stuff that Buslady was going on about is the reason why I refuse to buy TMNT comics anymore.  I really tried to get into them but now if I want a TMNT fix I'll stick to random issues of Tales, and only if it looks interesting.

I could suggest the break up had to do with an horrible love hate relationship with peanut butter and sheep but that would just be silly.  (Sorry I'm in a crap mood and I tried to think of something random but that's the best I could come up with.)

Actually, I like the peanut butter and sheep concept...  LOL

And yes, while the story that Buslady is referring to has taken some rather bizarre turns, it's not much different that the strange continuity of the books over the years. It's one of the things that earmarks TMNT, that they are a rather bizarre lot, that endeared themselves to the general public by way of the cartoons.

One of the things I didn't like though, was when Kevin brought in the Venus character, in the TV show, how some people just had a couple litters of puppies over it.
I thought the idea was kewl, though more so, if she'd gone off on her own series, but Peter hated her so much, he had her erased. Nooot nice...  Razz
Well hey, it's their party, but I don't always have to be there to see the cake explode.
Okay, that was random.

Hey, don't let me kill this thread, will you?  Shocked

...  I wasn't going to respond to this topic, I don't like digging into their personal business so what I'm going to speak of here isn't really Eastman and Laird, though more around the creation of Venus and the reason I believe that Peter doesn't like her.

It started in 1995, the news was out that CBS was only going to do one more seasons of shows.  So while trying to find a station to pick up Turtles Fox came around saying they'll do a "Live Action TV show, Only if there's a female Turtle".   It was neither Kevin or Peter's idea to bring her into the show, it was Fox.  At first both didn't want to bend, I've heard Kevin many times in the past say there'll never be a female Turtle.   Though they didn't want the show off the air either.  This was the coner they were backed into.

The deals with Fox/Saban went all through 1996, and finally on January 11th, 2007 the papers were signed.  Peter not really for it at all, and wanted nothing to do with it.   Kevin though willing to give it a try, so Kevin went to the sets, and was a part of the show.  And Venus was created inside Mirage Studios.   Just that the idea of her was brought in by Saban/Fox forceing them to do something that they originally didn't want to do.

I personally believe that because of this being a forced character is the reason that Peter took her out of the picture.   He was never happy with the Next Mutation.

That's my 2 cents in on Venus.   I remember at first I wasn't going to give her much of a chance either, it took some friends to convince me otherwise.  I was really mad about the idea of the female Turtle... though I did become a fan of the Next Mutation, in no way was I surprised that she wouldn't appear in anything else TMNT.  Infact I highly excepted her to disappear after the Next Mutation.

I for one kinda like most of these current plot concepts, except for that one with April. I'm guessing Peter was going somewhere interesting with this stuff but he wound up making it up as he went along. For the most part all we can try to do is understand where his mind has been these last few years and why he wants to write such nutty stories.
