I haven't flamed anything yet, so now I'm gonna!!

Ever since the day we moved into our new building back in mid-May, there has been a rancid natural gas smell that lingers from time to time. Do you know difficult it gets to breath, think, and see after 15-20 minutes of the smell? Pretty darn difficult!!! (LOOK! I didn't swear!! Hades must be freezing. Wink   )

Have they done anything to fix the problem? No.

Have they figured out the problem? No.

Do we get non-smelling offices? No.

Today, the smell showed itself every hour. Its gotten to the point that you can't go stand in the hallway for better air. We have to go out into the cold for that to happen. Its ridiculous and getting very hard to do your job when you suddenly have a dizzy spell with tunnel vision, or you want to hock up your lunch, or suddenly have the urge to sleep.

That on top of other things about that place... makes me want to find a new job.  Dead/Dying

If you've filed complaints and they won't follow up to confirm what's going on, and you're getting sick? I say report 'em!!!

Too bad you all couldn't say "fix the problem or we're not coming in to work". That's a health hazard! Sorry things have turned out so crappy there...

And, not to make light of your problems, PG, but my first thought when I saw the topic was "Someone put gas fumes in the flame section?"    Shocked

And here I thought it was going to be about the gasoline one puts in a car.  ;p

But the natural gas smell?  That is bad, especially if it is making you guys feel sick.  Sounds a lot like carbon monoxide posioning too.  You really need to have that problem addressed for the sake of everyone, no matter!

Everytime we've had someone come over and look at it, they just take readings and leave. Nothing ever gets done. Wendell has offered to let me take in his carbon monoxide meter (yeah, we just happen to have one lying around).

That is really, really bad...I'd get ahold of OSHA...I think you can do that annonomysly (or however you spell it)...that's a huge health, not to mension safety, problem.

...man the alleged spelling skills're so gone.

Yeah, the more proof you have, the better. If the higher ups that you work with won't do anything, going to some agency, like the one Mo mentioned, might be your best bet.

Yes it is a huge problem.

I did find out that some inspectors did come to the building recently and asked "How did this pass the final inspection?"

Course, they don't know the cause and just asked us to "log" each occurence. This week has been easy about logging. EVERY HOUR.

And, there could very well be an issue with the wiring. *SPARK* *BOOM*

*sigh* Yeah, so if I disappear for a while.... and don't answer any phone calls.... you might wanna send someone down to the area to find out stuff  Rolling Eyes
