This is an interesting story of an old man dieing, wishing to save his family.  He needs the help of Splinter and the Turtles to follow out the task at hand, to the point where he needs to use Splinter's body to do his goal.  Getting the Turtles to follow and help with the mission, they have to go and convince a young man of the right path for his family.

This is a really good issue, and stands alone nicely.  Check out Mirage's topic on this issue at http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/mirage/volume01/09/09.htm

This is one of the first Mirage early issues which has not been made into an episoide for 4Kids as of yet.  Who knows if it will down the line.

Please share your thoughts about this issue!

Well, this one's neat too, because here you have a story that takes place before the Turtles are 15 years old.
They have the masks on that inspired the ones used for the Playmates toddler TMNT.  The Turtles haven't graduated to sharp edge weapons yet.
*sigh*  I almost wish Mirage had done a couple more stories from this time period in TMNT life along the way.  That would have been pretty cool.

I really enjoyed the youthful attitudes of the TMNT in this issue. Where you could see something of it being an intermediate stage from Splinter never letting them out of the Lair, to part of teaching them how to interract with the world outside, giving them the experience of honing their skills in real situations. But also, Splinter's great trust in them, to allow them to get involved. That his sons were growing up, and he had to let them fly. And they repaid his trust so well, even if someone still deserved a bap!
 Very Happy/Big Grin

And I could discuss this issue being influential to two of my fan fics, but that's another thread.  Razz

Yes, Leo's right.....this*is* where Splinter first lets them go solo.....man, and all I have to say about that, is, those of you out there with younglings.....that is one of the hardest steps to make as a parent.  You just kinda say a prayer......and let go.  I didn't think it'd be that hard, but it was.  And so far, so good.  Wink [/i]
