Andrew requested these sketches I did back in September 2001 after the 11th happened.  I express myself durning that time in art and writting.  Here is the art work I did.  Not the best, because they were only fast sketches never intended to be put up anywhere or even colored.  Just fast drawnings I did.

A Turtle with a flag.

A drawing of a person... no name attached or anything just a drawing... of someone who was in New York for 911.

For a little bit there I started to draw flags on the Turtles belt, to show they were effected like a lot of people were.  Notice a lot more people wear stuff with flags these days or have flags on their houses.

The Turtles in the sewer as the towers are going down.

I picture this being Raphael, just really upset durning this time.

Turtles watching from a high building as the dust is going through the streets as the second tower is down.

Michaelangelo talking to Master Splinter.

Raphael ready for a fight, in which may be too big for them to handle a lone.

Donatello's theory on bad events.

I'll like to also put in here one of the things I wrote durning this time.

Lost

As I sit and watch the news,
I feel there's things I never knew.
How to grasp the word war,
And wondering what for.
What has our country done to them,
And why was talking never done.
With these questions never answered,
People thing we need to be pampered.
Many people are out to help no matter the cost,
Though I sit here not knowing what to do.. Just Lost.

Great sketches, Ivey. And the dialogue... it seems like you were conceiving a 9/11 story of your own.

That's a great quote from Donatello at the end, rings very true.

I could never really relate to this because I'm Canadian but it still affected me, greatly, I remember being at school when I found out about it... Your sketches are very powerful, I like them. They really show what you were feeling during that time.

Those were some awesome images, Ivey! They certainly reflect the way many of us felt at the time.

I must admit, it would be neat to see some colorization to some of those pics, especially Mike's "Proud to Be an American" speech. Now that song is gonna be playing through my head all day long! Michaelangelo

Thanks everyone for the comments!

Andrew, thanks for the comments about the dialogue, I just really felt a lot durning that time and had to put it down somewhere.  I of course had to put it into the TMNT point of view, knowing that's their city which was attacked.  I never wrote any story or anything, just did those sketches.

Fae, I know the feeling... before this time I really did take it for granted where I lived as did most people.  Though I still feel everywhere in the world has it's ups and downs about where they are.   No where is perfect, ever.  Since this day and seeing how everyone pulled together to help us get through this it does make me a lot more proud to be an American... though I do have to bap some of the choices that we go through.   I'm hoping the people going through the weather problems right now can pull their lifes back together like New York and D.C. had too.

Mily, yeah I know these drawings are deff from the American view since I'm American as well as the Turtles are... though I also realize that these events effected the whole world, it was the "World Trade Center" in New York that went down, not only American lifes were lost.    Thanks for the comments, I know I never thought I'd be posting them anywhere because of how much of my emotions are really shown in these... most of the sketches I do that are of how I feel inside, don't ever get posted anywhere.... opens ya up a lot.  Though this was a few years ago, that day still feels like yesterday when it comes to how I feel about it.

I'm glad you liked them hazlov Michaelangelo

Jephael, I don't know if I could ever color these.  I thought about it after scanning them, even opened one to start coloring it... but as I looked at it... I felt like it too the real feeling out of them.   The trueness of the drawing from when it was original drawn.  I ended up scrapping the color version and decided to post them how they really are shown.  Sometimes Sketches are not meant to be changed from what they were... and that's how I feel about these.  No color or inking would do them justic.

Michaelangelo Donatello Raphael Leonardo
I'm going to close this post out with another one of the things I wrote in this art book....

Why

People sit and wonder why,
At the lost of family who went to fly.
How could humans do such a thing,
That would cause so many killings.
People sitting at work,
Not feeling danger in their turf.
Though no warning from the sky.
Four planes came down and so many die.
Fear of hate goes around the world,
Touching every boy and girl.
Now as we look towards the sky,
Only one question runes through our minds...   Why?

It's funny, too... and I felt kind of guilty for it... when 9/11 happened and I watched it on the news, maybe it's just the way I'm wired, but for whatever reason on of the the first things that popped into my head was... jeeze, the Turtles live there, too. What would they be doing on 9/11, how would that affect their lives?

I think we were on the same wavelength.

Very good drawings...thought provoking.

It's been how many years now, and there's still such intense fear over another attack like it. I'm halfway expecting to see armed military prowling the malls again this holiday season. That's another reason I'm not entirely comfortable working on the biggest shopping day of the year in MOA, but I'm not calling in or anything...what matters is how you live your life, not how afraid you are to die.

cool drawings, i think the first one would be good colored.  TMNT represent NY...and FYI- Leonardo IS a mascot of FDNY Engine 286 and Ladder 135; I have the patch to prove it. They are NY. To have one of them march with a USA Flag and another carry NY's  state flag would be so cool.

These are very touching and very nicely done for simply quickly putting ideas to paper...

Its funny when 9/11 first happened I too thought of the guys... in fact I can remember coming home that night from work, just depressed and watched the first movie...

Those are sad. I remember back in a crossover fic that I wrote years ago I put 9/11 in it..that was the only way I could deal with it.

Hey guys, I've been debating for months whether or not I should try coloring in one of these group pics Ivey made and I finally decided to try it.

I decided that since this was based on a very emotional time I would go with the Mirage style coloring and give all four turtles red bandanas. Also, I had some fun with Donatello and Michaelangelo since in the original sketch you really can't tell which one of them is which.
