I'm not a party person but I just learned a few hours ago that my friend's sister's bf (Jack) who I graduated with died last night at a party. Apparently the story goes that a few of his friends put vodka in each of his non-alcoholic drinks. Then, in the middle of it, he decided to drink a few shots of something else (I don't remember what it was but that's not important). Then he went back to drinking what he thought was non-alcoholic beverages and each one was spiked.
He died last night of Alcohol poisoning and it's also suspected that there was something else in those drinks. I ask you people, WHO THE HECK DOES THAT OTHER THAN STUPID PEOPLE?! The death was ruled alcohol poisoning but the official autopsy is being conducted. Apparently, from what I was told by my friend, if it's ruled alcohol posoning, no charges are allowed to be filed even those these people killed him by spiking his drinks! Now does this REALLY make sense? To me, it doesn't! These guys at the party admitted to spiking each of his drinks and it's not like Jack knew he was drinking alcohol if he didn't taste it or smell it!
It ticks me off that people are able to do this in this darn state and get off, no criminal charges filed if they kill a person via alcohol! It's like putting too much of the date rape drug in a drink! It's not like you know you're drinking it! Maybe I'm wrong but I think this whole thing is just plain BS.[/b]

That is so wrong, and very sickening at the same time. I'm sorry to hear such horrid news. Those friends (if you can call them that) should be charged with murder, because in a way, it is. They spiked his drinks, and even though he was drinking them, they caused the death to occur. And really, at those kind of parties, you've got to be so careful with who handles your drinks. If you turn away from your glass or leave it unattended, DON'T drink it! Chances are it's been tainted with and you're better off getting a new drink and guarding it with your life. Again, I'm sorry for the news, that's just plain terrible.

I hope the victim's parents know all the facts that you've addressed. That is such a sad thing to hear.

They do know about it and they're completely devistated. So's his girlfriend, Heather. It's truly upsetting. It annoys me that they won't be convicted of murder...but the parents can sue. It makes no sense to me.

I had a friend die the same way a while ago. He barely drank but his 'friends' pushed him to drink more then his limit. He passed away due to alcohol poisoning. I'm not sure what happened to two of his 'friends' who were taken to court over it...

I also just found out something else in this whole developement! Jack never drank alcohol before according to his gf. So now, this makes the whole thing even worse. I won't go into the gory details of what the medical examiner said about how he died (let's just say it was a HORRIBLE way to go) but they're still waiting for toxicology results.

Wait a minute, so they poison this guy, and they're unchargeable because it's booze?
Something about that doesn't feel right. Have you contacted the state's attorney's office?
And...

*hugs back* Thanks, Raka. It's true, apparently, they can't press criminal charges but civil is okay. It makes no sense to me. My town is trying to go after that with the idea of it being the same as putting a drug or poison in a drink.

I still know how to write a press release. There are plenty of 24-hour news channels which have 24 hours to fill and not enough topics to fill 'em half the time. Put this on, say, Hannity and Colmes, Glenn Beck, The O'Reilly Factor, Nancy Grace...shine some light on this. You'd be surprised what a little national humiliation can do to grease the wheels of justice. (That's the prosecutors getting humiliated, not you, in case that's less than clear.)

Don't they know alcohol IS a poison? Duh. I feel for the poor fella, he suffered a painful death. He's the victim, I feel the worst for him. I hope the afterlife or whatever we get later, is better to him. Or maybe he'll haunt the jerks who did it to him until they die. Stupid laws...they just don't make sense....they can sue for wrongful death but what do they get? Money? SO WHAT, it's not gonna bring him back.
