Umm... This is for Freaks, right?

Well the title by the end sort of makes sense.

Okayoushoe-dude releases this stuff that mutates people... Mike is first, and wow!  Splinter is actually in this episode!  Leo is infected next, and the chase is on.  Don and Cody figure out that a certain light frequency is gonna be needed (Cody in his robot suit-- ick), and Splinter is still involved!

Raph and Cody follow Mike, and find a bunch of other people who have mutated as well-- and then Splinter and Don show up-- and yes, Leo has tagged them, so now it's down to Raph and Cody-- they sort of escape-- only to find that the battle armor had NOT protected Cody from the slime, and now he's trying to kill Raph-- who is piloting their escape thing-- and then as they hit the direct sunlight of morning-- viola!

Naturally, they go back and rescue everyone else, and the Okashonomebawama guy gets away; but he'll be back.

Did I mention that Splinter actually was IN this episode?

Dare I say it?  Rather a GOOD episode, putting aside my dislikes of the changes.  A few hints of former greatness, so at least the writers are trying.

Plus/side:  Splinter is ACTIVE in this.  Leo is mutated along with Mike, and it's up to Raph by the end to solve it, even though he still has Cody-Stu to help (once he demutates, that is).  Background is given about this Okahshona guy's race and the Day of Awakening.  And they only said "It's ninja time!" once (when they were originally going to have to capture Mike).  Oh, and the Day of Awakening is still coming-- so much for that "24 stand-alone episodes" crap they touted when they made this "new" series.  And Splinter was IN this episode, doing stuff!

Minus/side:  They said "It's ninja time!" when they were going to go after Mutated Mike (he's their BROTHER!-- as Splinter pointed out-- small plus in the negative).  Burping-- Leo is NOT a burper, but in this series he's more like a teen than ever.  Too much Cody in that battle armor-- damn, he was able to still use it after the slime stuff "wrecked" it.  Will NOTHING destroy that thing?

ALERT THE MEDIA!  DARK TURTLES ARE NEXT WEEK!

Oh, yeah-- did I mention that SPLINTER was IN this episode?  Doing stuff???

Dude, Splinter had the best line in this episode: "Why do I taste hot dogs?"
That was comedy gold, man!

Actually, I prefered his explanation to Serling about how he tunes out his sons. Wink

Yeah, apparently he wasn't one who had gone bad. I keep forgetting when it's on, I saw the last 10 minutes of it. Or so.  Razz

This episode deff had it ups sides... would of prefer less of Cody in that machine though at LEAST Cody wasn't the hero... I got worried he was going to be the one to save the day... THANK for proving me wrong!   Happy/Smile

I think it was great to see Leo burping, at least we know he didn't need a stunt burper Wink  It's been a bit since we've got to see the guys burp, bet Mike had a LOT of fun working on that episode!!    LOL   I laughed at that so much, all the burping right there, and knowing that it's Mike.

It was fun seeing the guys go bad, and I love the comment about Mike's taste not changing even after being turned evil.   Raph had some great lines in this episode.   It was really cool to see it turn out the way it did.    So far this is one of my favorite episodes.

Steve Murphy did say that Fast Forward does get darker in the later half of it.  Guess they couldn't keep with that light look for the guys Wink  Just too bad we get one more episode than gotta wait till Fall of 2007??????   They gotta be joking us!  I'm hoping they change their mind when February sweeps come up and they want new stuff on TV!

There's gotta be away to show 4Kids that the fans are out here!  And for them to hear us!

Although I have a couple of things to say about this episode...overall is was one of my favorites thus far.   Thumbs Up  I really liked (of course) how Raph was again the center of attention beginning around the middle and how he saved the day.   Love   I also thought it was funny how poor Mikey turned evil and spewed on Leo.  Mikey makes a good evil turtle!

My first problem with the episode - "It's Ninja Time".  Come on people...we have to lose this cheesy phrase!  Not only that, but they said it when they were going after Mikey!  He's their brother!!  Enough said about that.

My second problem was that Leo, in my opinion, was WAY out of character.  Cynlee mentioned that he was much more teen in this episode and that's a very true statement.  Sure it was funny to see him burp...but he's just not a burper!  When Mikey spewed over him he said something along the lines of "Ewww...bros...?"  All I could think of was "Holy crap, he dropped 10 IQ points!"  In the episode "Tales of Leo" when Mikey burped his onion breath over Leo's face...now THAT look is what I expected from him.  Perhaps his reactions in both episodes should be switched...

Again, overall, a really good episode.  I'm worried about next week's episode...I go back to work that day and i'm afraid my DVD recorder won't catch it!  It's supposed to be the last new episode of the year and I *NEED* to see it!  Dark Turtles!  Woo Hoo!

This was a good episode. Would've been better without all the belching going on. Eew.

I agree, Leo was OOC in that scene. He is not a belcher. I covered my ears even when he did so I couldn't hear it, but I was still watching, and I cringed badly. What have they done to him? To all of them? Sure, they're teenagers, but they've been so much more mature than that. It's like they've regressed in their maturity and IQs in this season. They've been dumbed down for the little kiddies. Sad/Down  I don't like that at all, but I still watch it because there are saving graces, and it's Turtles.

I don't think Leo was the only one who was taken out of character in this episode.  Don was also OOC as well.  Remember when Leo goes out on his own and gets his shell kicked by the Foot?  Don wasn't exactly thrilled with Mikey's belch right after the fact.  He even voiced it by saying "I can't believe I clapped for that!"  As good of an episode as it was, basically starring Raph, I didn't like this episode.  It took everyone far too out of character but then again, they've been doing this through out the entire series and it's only been getting worse.  I think this episode took the first place award for the worst portrayal of the guys in any media of TMNT.

I'm also finding that their intelligence has gone down.  Anyone else find that they're slowly reverting to where their mentalitu was in NT:TNM?

Synopsis:

Intro: Open in Sh’Okanabo’s ship, deep inside the Chelsea Chasm. As Sh’Okanabo admires his precious gene-seeds, he walks along a row of cages, all containing pigeons. One of the pigeons is “implanted” with the alien gene-seeds and we watch as the bird is encased in a purple cocoon which then breaks open, revealing a transformed animal that is now a monstrous Kanabo-Drone! Sh’Okanabo is almost ready to put his plan into action, but first, he must do a field test to see if everything is in order. The alien releases the infected pigeon to see how well it can spread the Kanabo virus to the human population of New New York. The bird flies into the city and lands at a hot dog stand, where the customers are Cody, Splinter and the Turtles!

Act 1: Open with the Turtles, Splinter, and Cody chowing down on some hot dogs. As they enjoy their old fashioned dinner, the infected pigeon flies inside and lands on the counter top, spreading purple, Kanabo ooze all over it. The shop owner drives the bird off, but the damage has been done - the goo begins to smother the hot dogs! Our heroes finish their meal and prepare to head home. Mikey decides to grabs one last hot dog for later and lags behind. As Mikey walks home, he can’t resist the temptation, and chomps into the infected hot dog.

Cut to Cody’s Penthouse where the guys are enjoying the belches created by the junk food. Shortly, a zombie-like Mikey arrives and begins acting very strange - first he passes out, then he rushes to the refrigerator and begins eating all of its contents - including the vegetables! His brothers try to help him, but Mikey easily overpowers them and bats them away. Cody injects Mike with a tranquilizer, knocking him unconscious. While Mikey sleeps, the others strap him onto an examination table. Cody runs a bunch of tests and we discover that something is in the Turtle's system causing a new mutation. Suddenly, Mike spews purple vomit all over Leo that absorbs into Leo’s skin! The guys focus their attention back on Mikey as he is engulfed in purple tentacles that form a cocoon around him. Seconds later, the alien covering bursts open and reveals a new, mutated Mikey monster! He’s now a stage one Kanabo Drone!

Act 2: Kanabo Mikey breaks out of his restraints and starts smashing all of the lab equipment. He's super strong and can’t be held down by the others. Mike tears out of the room and smashes through a window. The others jump in the Hovershell to track him. As they follow, Don realizes the slime Mikey’s trailing is infectious.

Suddenly, their attention turns to a crazed Leo whose eyes are now glowing red. Leo then begins smashing around the Hovershell, looking for a way out. He hits the “Shell Release” button and the cockpit disengages from the body aa\nd plummets towards the ground. The ship crashes into the roof of a building and Leo escapes. Raph and Cody (now in his Turtle X armor) follow Mikey while Splinter and Don go after Leo.

Cody and Raph follow Mikey into the hot dog shop. They find a trap door in the floor and investigate. As they slowly walk downstairs, they discover the basement is covered in the purple slime. When they reach the bottom, they realize it’s a nest full of angry, stage one Kanabo Drones!

Act 3: As the group of drones prepare to attack, Cody pushes a shelf onto them to slow them down. He and Raph escape up the stairs and barricade the trap door. Cody has a plan on how to slow or reverse the mutation - he just needs to figure out the proper ratio of light to radiation to expose the mutants to - but he doesn’t have a chance to figure it out as Master Splinter and Donatello enter, both in the initial stage of Kanabo mutation! Don and Splinter start chowing down on food. The other drones break through the basement door and Leo arrives, joining the monster menace. The creatures surround Cody and Raph, but just as the drones are about to attack, they stop and kneel on the ground. Sh’Okanabo arrives and tells Raph and Cody to prepare for their future - a world full of Kanabo Drones!

Sh’Okanabo’s explains via flashback how the Kanabo roam from planet to planet, infecting host bodies and taking over. When that planet is used up, the ship takes off again to find another world to infect. This time, Earth is the target!

Cut back to the present - Raph and Cody decide to get the shell outta there. Cody fires up his rockets and blasts out of the building. Raph follows and they escape inside a hover-truck. However, Cody’s armor was damaged and he’s been infected. It’s all up to Raph now!

Act 4: Cody attacks Raph, causing the hover-truck to crash through a wall into the dawn of a new day. As Kanabo Cody is about to clobber Raph, the sun's rays engulf him - Cody falls to his hands and knees, billowing smoke. The mutation reverts and the boy changes back to his normal self! Cody and Raphael realize that sunlight contains the correct light/radiation ratio to save their friends!

Sh’Okanabo stands in front of his Kanabo army, gloating that the Day of Awakening has begun. Raph and Cody smash through the walls, creating holes for sunlight to enter. They then begin ripping through boarded up windows, lighting up the entire area. Everyone turns back to normal, including Splinter, Don, Leo and Mikey. With no more drones and his great plan ruined, Sh’Okanabo destroys and building's structural supports and flees. The TMNT rescue everyone from the collapsing building. The police begin to arrive, so our heroes beat feet.

Cut to a defeated Sh’Okanabo as he throws a tantrum in his ship. Everything was going perfectly if not for the sun! With that thought, Sh’Okanabo begins to plot a way to overcome the obstacle….
