I just discovered this afternoon that my original MySpace profile was erased sometime last night, deleting all links to my friends, favorite group and video clips. I am so steamed right now about this!!! You think that Tom guy would do something already!

I understand your feelings believe me.  I share the same sentiment about fanfiction.net.  Heck, I'm now VIOLENTLY against ff.net, especially after nearly being in an international lawsuit and having an online stalker which ff.net has failed to do anything about, including suspending his account.  However, I do understand that this Tom guy can't watch out for everything that happens on that site.  Like any HUGE site, no one can watch out for everything.  It's easy to monitor on a site like this especially since we have a smaller group of people to look after and not so many participants but even with a staff of 1000, you can't keep an eye on all of your users when you may have more than one million accounts.  You can only investigate what happens and hope that you find out what happened.

The other thing that potentially could have happened is that someone "falsely reported" your profile as being inappropriate (I've seen this done on fanfiction.net as well) and since they get most likely too many reports that after a while, they just delete your profile and not even bother to read it which is wrong but often times, that's what happens.  *sighs* Go figure with large websites.

Everything's fine from my end.

Arista could be right about someone reporting something "wrong" with your profile, and them not really investigating like they should have. If that's the case, it's unjust, and you really should contact the administrator to find out what happened.

If it were hackers, I think if they wanted to do some serious damage, they'd find a way to disable the entire site, and not just spend time targeting only certain accounts.

Its true.  I know it's unjust but sadly, that's what happens on a lot of sites.  If you made ONE enemy, they'll falsely report you and because there's so many people, they can't sit there and look at each and every profile.  It's just easier to lick on their name and say delete profile.

Well forunately, I got my new account going and people here and there have started adding me. I'm also on the lookout for any former friends who I knew via my old account.

MySpace gets a loooooooooooooooooot of exposure and with that much exposure comes the bad bunch of apples who like to just wreck havoc. The problem with MySpace is that it reached to enormous heights so quickly and I believe the staff just wasn't prepared that much for it.

I'm sorry to hear about your account, Jeph, and it's really bad that sites like MySpace can't possibly control the amount of users and their actions. If someone reports you, that's it. Sad/Down

Grah... I'm going to sound like an old fart here, but I remember the net when it was mainly text and not as many users! Hardly any spyware, adware, viruses... Ah, well. Better just be careful of others, I suppose.  Cool
