I was just wondering if anyone else felt that through out the new cartoon (Not Fast Forward), Donatello has turned into a huge flirt.  Maybe I'm not 100% reading this correctly but I'm really seeing him as the ultimate flirt.  He's made Raph and Mikey look super tame with the flirting aspect.  So far, he's hit on April, Sydney, Jhanna and there may have been one more who I'm forgetting about but those seem to be the top three.

I don't understand completely why that is.  It really seems to me that all (with the exception of maybe 2, Lonae and Angel) of the women in the series have either fallen for Leo or have been hit on majorly by Don.  I actually feel sorry for Raph and Mikey in the series because no one seems (unless I'm mistaken) to be going for them.  The irony of this whole thing is that Don appears to be the least popular of the turtles (that's what I'm seeing on various forums and also from noticing that I can find tons of Don action figures but never any of the others).

I'm wondering if they're REALLY over compensating for Don's lack of a female love interest in previous shows and movies but even then, it just seems a little weird.  In the original cartoon, Don doesn't have a love interest.  Mikey had Cala and that Buffy girl.  Raph had Mona Lisa.  Leo had Lotus.  In the first movie, three of them (Leo, Don, and Mikey and Raph wouldn't admit to anything) stated at least once that April was hot.  Does anyone else find this strange/funny or is it just me?

I do feel that this is to try and stop the rumors about Donatello out there.  Since he wears purple and in the last so many series didn't look towards girls that much with no love interest.  I know people who still live to those old rumors, cause that's why they like Don.  I think this may have got the guys behind the scenes to go, we gotta give Don a little bit more notice towards the ladies so that people will stop talking.

It's the offical way of saying Don is straight.

Makes sense to me.

It makes perfect sense but did they really have to go over board in giving Don an ungodly number of love interests while the rest of his brothers (except for Leo) have none?  To me, it would have made more sense to give him one and maybe have the other three have one but Don having three is a little excessive...Sorry to say it but now they're putting more fodder into the theory that the other three may not be straight.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but Leo doesn't exactly have a complete love interest in Karai but she seems to have a thing for him at times although Leo's nievity is making him want to give Karai a chance.  I think the best argument I've ever read (sadly, the author took her argument off her site) was that just because girls like you and you want to give a girl a chance to do the right thing doesn't mean you're straight, it could mean that you admire her for a quality.  Raph who's historically brought home the women and has had girlfriends hasn't had a love interest yet.  I guess it doesn't make sense to me to debunk the myth by giving one turtle 3 love intersts but the others none.  That just starts a whole new slew of myths about the others...Sorry, my head hurts from trying to reason this out with Hex.

Yeah, there never was anything in any of the comics that even remotely pointed to Don having any gay tendencies whatsoever. He had girlie posters all over his room, he eyed Renee and the other ladies with the same amount of interest that normal guys have.  Very Happy/Big Grin

But then my question still stands, why in the show are they ONLY focusing on Don having love interests but not the other three?  That's what's still getting to me.

And Mike isn't obvious at times?  Right when they met April, he asked if he could keep her, followed by winking and the clicking of the tongue.  Those are flirtatious signs, if you ask me.  Happy/Smile  As for Raph and Leo, perhaps they do have some interest in the opposite sex, but show it in different way...which is no way at all on the show!   LOL   The writers, I guess, try to flip through the comics as homework (wish I had that kind in school!) and see how each of the guys act towards women.  Funny, with the new comics, you'd think you'd see more of Mike being flirtatious in the show.  Or, a whole other realization is they need to keep attraction to girls down a few notches for a 'boy' show, if you know what I mean.  Wink

I dunno, I thought it amusing that Don was sort of hitting on some women in the new toon, but didn't really think about who flirts more than the others. Probably from reading the comics over the years, my brain just fills in that they all do that... because in many of the old stories, they all showed interest. *shrug*

I fondly remember their first meeting with Renet and, after glancing at the panel just now, it looks as though it's Raph who goes, "Whatta babe!"  Although, I'm sure all of them would say such a line to a pretty, er, well-endowed, girl!  Wink

Yep, they were all looking at her with the exact same kind of expression guys give a woman who looks like that, albeit scantily clad. There was a short story I think drawn by AC Farley in one of the Turtle Soup issues where they were in prehistoric times and Renet was sporting a leopard skin something or other, she'd been climbing up a cliff, and was standing there at the top, sweating and huffing.. and the TMNT were sitting there, all watching her with rapt enjoyment.
Oh yeah, and in another Dooney series in the same Turtle Soup book, Mike was showing a cute alien girl how to use the chucks. Standing in close proximity, holding her by one arm, and grinning away... fliiiirt.  LOL  Razz

*agrees with Mikey*

Don: Yes... I will admit, I have a thing for red-heads.   Embarassed

My theory is that he's a technosexual, not a homosexual.  "Donatello does machines!"   Angel   I just see him as just being more interested in techie gadgets and science more than girls and dates.  There are such things as people (like myself, when I was a teen) who aren't all into the dating scene as much as others... that or they don't wish to hitch up right away like others do.

In a sense, the variety they have in the new cartoon, in showing that not all the guys are into flirting with chicks is more realistic in a way.

I'll probably get in trouble for saying it - Raph showed major interest in Joy.
Other than that...Don's got it for every girl he comes in contact with! I bet he actually has dirty mags under his mattress.  Razz

The geeks I've known in my life tend to be both what Don described and what Buslady mentioned. They aren't so much into the dating thing because they tend to be busy, but they aren't above a keen interest in girls. I think when they get older, they will tend to pursue some kind of relationship, just not as teens. However, a lot of them did try to hit on me, because I showed interest in them.

Who's Joy? I'm losing track of characters...

Geez Louweeze.....I'm losing track of characters too.  Joy....I can't place her either......Buslady, help!!!

My memory is getting bad, or something....obviously Don is doing something in the series to have this brought up again.  I've always felt he had a romantic streak, you know, from the comics, because it always crops up from time to time....the wistful look, the sigh.....geez, the guy just goes completely moon-eyed.  It's so touching.  He even plays match-maker for a pair of robots!
I haven't been aware of him overdoing anything in the series.....or that the other guys are in neutral....or missing out.....maybe the right female just hasn't walked on the set yet. Rolling Eyes  Guess I better line those dvds up and play them over this weekend for a refresher course.  Wink

I agree with Aig about the geeks......they are too busy, but they do have an interest in girls....it's just that machines are their first love.  Both my brothers are geeks.  And, while one came close to actually getting married, in the end, he didn't.  Not that all machine-heads go this route, but my brothers, both are straight, both stayed single, and technology is the mistress they serve.

Joy was the female Acolyte in the Ninja Tribunal episodes. And I agree with Buslady her and Raphael did form a mutual bond in my opinion.
