Spork and Sporkette?

Whatever happened to these mascots?

I'm not sure where Spork and Sporkette themselves are, but I do have Sporkette's box of things safe. There was talk, oh, last year or the year before, where Klork wanted to step down from handling them and I was due to get Spork and his stuff once she got it from whomever has him(Amandatello? Anyone know? I thought one of the two was over in Australia...) and then forward it to me to start up the mascots again.

I've lost contact, so I have no idea what's going on, only that I have Sporkette's stuff. Despite a move this summer and a wedding coming up for me soon, I would still like to get these mascots going again. It was definitely fun having them around, sending them to other fans, and I do miss it.

That's all I really know about the situation. I have Sporkette's stuff, got it from Mica and Mandy at I believe it was last year's FallCon(gads, and this year's is in a week!), but I got swept up in some personal matters shortly after and lost contact with Klork after she moved(or I thought she said she was going to move and would contact me after that, eep!) I'm not sure what's all happened.

Anyone else know that could help me get this straightened out and maybe help get the mascots going again?

I'm thinking that Klork has Spork & Spork's stuff. Spork had gone to MikeyQuartermane in 2001 (from me) and he had the little guy until either late last year/early this year. Actually, I think DaveTokka had him in there too. Anywho, between meetups at conventions, etc. I had thought that the gear finally got to Klork, who was going to fix him up (and Skette too, eventually, whenever she showed up from downunder).  From there, yeah, I thought you were going to be taking things over, TN.

With the wedding coming up, moving a few times, going back to school and starting a new job, I suspect Klork's been kinda busy.  DJ seems to be the easy way to keep in touch, TN, maybe a post there? (unless you think it might be nagging, don't know when last you guys discussed this)

That's what I thought was gonna happen. I think Klork and I were gonna wait 'till she'd moved and settled in and then she was gonna send Spork and S'kette and Spork's stuff to me to take over. By that time, however, I was going through some nasty crap myself during the first half of the year, after that was the crazy summer that involved a move, a wedding(not mine! ), craft shows, and a lot of farm work.

I'm not sure I ever had her email, and I figured she's forgotten all about it 'till now, too.

The mascots have crossed my mind from time to time, especially when I'm at the farm and I see the box of Sporkette's things that I have stored safely there in my room with other things of mine that I have stored since the move, and I wonder if anyone's been interested in sending them around again.

I haven't talked to Klork about this since last year before things got crazy and nasty on me, waiting for her to move, and then forgetting about it myself in the shuffle of things.

I could try to talk to her on DJ or something, see if she'd send it out, 'cause my address has certainly changed since then, and so has hers, so if she's gonna send them along, then I definitely need to give her that so the rest of the mascots can get to me.

I'm still interested in handling it. Despite farming and the wedding, I'm not that busy that I don't have time to get the mascots together and maintain getting them around to me. The days might belong to the farm, but the evenings are all mine.

If you guys think I should try to get ahold of Klork and see about getting the mascots going again, let me know. I can try to see if I can find her on DJ or through email and see if she's gonna want to send them along or if she'd rather let it go.

She's moved a few times since last year, and I believe her email addy has changed a few times too.  I would definitely say that DJ'd be the way to go. Give it a try, see what she says.

I never got to see the Spork dolls, but in all honesty it sounds like whoever was in charge with that whole thing may have quit the fandom or moved on.

It was a combination of things...the people that got Spork & Skette didn't send them along, for whatever reason, and repeated attempts to get them back by the one in charge were met with silence. Eventually, things got moving a bit and then real life invaded. The one that created them (Klork) has also had a lot on the go in the past year, between school, work, moving a few times, and other critical things, so she hasn't had the time to beating down doors.

Ugah, I didn't even see this topic before I posted the other one about Spork...

OK, to catch people up:

1. I did not recieve Spork or Spork's things until last week--and that was only Spork.  I was sent Spork, a new little baggie for him, a notebook and a folder with *1* drawing in it, and that's all Rose had to send to me.

2. I still have *no* clue where Spork's things are, yes life has been WAY too hectic in the past two years for me to beat down doors (danke, Raph).  Between chemotherapy, finishing school, and planning my own wedding, PLUS helping put together two other weddings for my fiance's siblings, I haven't even had the chance to even *think* about Spork.  I really don't know who has Spork's stuff, my mind's a jumble between Quartermane, Tokka, and Rose having bits and pieces here and there, but I think if Rose had anymore, she would have sent it with Spork.  I have no clue why his stuff has not been delivered and I'm not about to condemn anybody for not offering it up because in the past it's been repayed with absolutely no response.  The only thing I can think of the solve this is to not send it to people who are *not* willing to send *all* of his stuff at once...hence my reasoning for shrinking the amount of travelling gear with Spork.

3.  Yes, I had wanted TN to take over Spork & S'kette a year ago.  I have no clue on S'kette's whereabouts to be completely honest.  Last I heard she was in Ausie land.   I was even unaware that Sporkette's things had made it to TN until recently.

4.  I didn't leave the fandom, I just got uber busy. Real life is evil like that.  I would like to carry on Spork, to be honest, there's nothing more that I'd love to do when it comes to TMNT fandom, but there's so much more that I have to get done and organized before I can even delve into it again.  In whatever spare time I have between now and when I send out Spork, I'll do my best to get him updated.

5.  I will not in any way release Spork until I know for sure how I'm going to set up his system again. I want to keep track of where he goes personally, and I also want one or two other people to know his every move just in case my life goes crazy again (with graduation, a wedding, and a niece/nephew on the way, it could very easily happen).  I know one of those people will be TN, and I was planning on asking Raph since the two of them keep a really good eye on the TMNT fandom here and I know personally are very trustworthy.  I'll be setting up a list eventually, but I think I would prefer it to be done in a more confidential way than on a forum--that could just turn all kinds of messy.  I've already set up a livejournal for his journal entries (and I wouldn't check it all too often right now as I won't have time to start updating it on a regular basis.  Your best bet, if you have an LJ, is to just friend him and you'll get random scarce and pleasant surprises from his diary.).  And I've also set up a photobucket account for his photos and drawings.  I know that these don't seem as personal as his paper diaries and picture book apon picture book of stuffs, but I have to face it.  Where is Spork's stuff now?  Scattered.  All over the place and I have no way of knowing who has what.  The less he has, the faster and more often he will travel and the more he will get the chance to really go and see all of the TMNT fans out there--which is what I created him to do.

*pauses, looks up* ...Ok, I ended up ranting.  But in a good way!

I'll help ya out with Spork/Skette if you need it, most definitely, Klork. And I agree on the quantity of stuff that was travelling with them. When I sent Sporkette out to Aig, back in 98, it cost me over $90 to ship everything.  Spork, I sent to MikeyQ-Main back in the fall of 2001 in two lots. He needed Spork fast for the premiere of Harry Potter and there was no way I was footing (hee) another $90+ courier bill, so I sent the journal, Spork and maybe the smaller photo albums.

Personally, the journal & photobucket accounts are a great idea. That way, people who don't have Spork can see what he's up to. Reading the journal was one of the funner parts of having Spork, getting to see what he'd done, who he'd seen...having it online means more people can share in it.  Heh, and people might be more inclined to type up a quick entry, rather than taking the time to write it. (I did both...still have typed copies of Spork's journal, didn't do that when I had Skette, though)

I'm sorry for not mentioning that I had S'kette's things from Mica since last fall. RL took a big spin for me, too. Been busy with farming(good god, this year's been insane in that department!), getting engaged(I've noticed a lot of fans getting engaged/married these days ), a wedding in Iowa, and a funeral, it just hasn't crossed my mind to mention it.

Now it's winter, and things are settling down, and I'm hoping next year won't be as insane. Planning for the 2007 wedding, yes, but hopefully nowhere as insane elsewhere as it was this year. I'm still more than happy to help out with Spork and S'kette, and if anyone hasn't read the other post, I'll keep S'kette's stuff perfectly safe and stored with the rest of the things I have boxed up from the move this summer. Safe in my room, I know exactly where it is if I need to send it along.

And yeah, the journal and photobucket ideas are really good(heh, ok, I said that in the last post, but it's true ), just two less things to accumulate and weigh the package down. I don't think his clothes and souvenirs really weighed Spork down for me when I sent him to Raph when I had him in 2001, it was the two or three journals, and a couple of albums stuffed to the brim(which I only added to a week later when my film was developed, yikes), and I seem to recall the medium-sized box I sent cost $50 to get to Raph. I think as far as souvenirs went, I sent maybe a small shoebox worth of postcards and other little items with.

Even so, heh, the little stuff can add up, too. Just won't add up as much.
