Ohh... ok folks this is a big one. This is an event UNLIKE any other we've had here on TMNT-L. This is for those die hard fans who really want to, not just meet but go some where that has some TMNT History. Let me give a little back story.
One day back in late 1984, Kevin Siembieda got issue 2 of the original Mirage series, as he looked at it... he thought this would be great for a role play game, just as he set down the book someone called him and asked him if he's heard of Ninja Turtles and how great it would be for a game. The person who called gave Kevin, contact information for Eastman and Laird. Once he got in touch with Eastman and Laird, things went rolling from there... and the RPG game came out and became a hit.
Wait!
The story doesn't stop there.
Kevin was working on some other things than TMNT with his RPG company, Palladium books and one of the people he did contact with was a guy named Mark Freedman. He told Mark of TMNT and down the road even was the person who got Mark introduced to Eastman and Laird. Mark than took the TMNT and turned it into one of the biggest marketing products in history!
Therefore... Kevin Siembieda had a hand in making it so TMNT was known world wide and a lot of us would not even know who the Turtles were without him. Kevin TOTALLY rocks and if you ask me, deserves a thank you for any fan who meets him. He's a great guy and really does NOT get enough credit for what he did with TMNT. I could never thank him enough, for if the turtles did not enter my life I truely do not know where I would be now.
Yes I have talked of Kevin before, since he's been a guest at a few cons including
Youmacon 2006. He's a great guy, and he understands not all fans have played the RPG. In fact I admitted to him just today that I haven't played it yet, though I'd love to learn. He's a guest I look up to, so I think that this event is really cool to have going.
