I know the main villian is max winters and some other people. Are they from the comic book, cartoon, or anything else or are they just made up characters for the movie?

It's my understanding these are new characters created for the movie. Although, any references to Karai and Shredder, of course, are existing characters.

I read somewhere that Eastman and Laird wanted to pursue the avenue of having new villains rather than rehashing the old to reinvent the franchise, similarly to how the Joker was only suggested to have been sighted in Batman Begins. My personal opinion, regardless of who owns the rights, I think a smarter move would have been to show a scene of everyday life in New York City--residents and pedistrians hear loud tremors--they pause--and suddenly, the Technodrome bursts from beneath the streets and a whole slew of people get killed.

Oh one of the reasons the Technodrome wasn't used, same goes with Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang was because those were creations for the original cartoon. Which isn't either Eastman or Lairds favorite area of TMNT. A lot of the stuff they created about the TMNT was taken out of the original series. So we're lucky to have the few things that stayed from the original show like the mask colors and pizza and some of the humor.

I can understand that. But considering the sheer number of people who know the cartoon, it would be their loss not to persue that avenue. Neutrinos-forever! (dive off building)
This is otherwise a season of homages. Spider-Man is going to have Venom. The Fantastic Four are going to have the Silver Surfer.

Try explaining that to the Angry Nintendo Nerd on YouTube sometime! All kidding aside though, I also find it sad that we can never see the Neutrinos or the Mutanimals in the movies or new toon ever!

Not a hockey fan, eh? I think it might actually be an NHL allusion. You know...the New Jersey Devils? That may even be why they call him the Jersey Devil, not the New Jersey Devil, because that might be trademark infringement. Or I might be talking out of my shell... Raka

Hehe... as a former New Yorker, I'm quite familiar with hearing about that hockey team. I think it's an inside joke.

It wouldn't make much sense though cause he might enjoy it too much to have anything to get pizza'ed off about.
