Because of the discussion I'm having about Fast Forward in the other thread, I decided to ask this question.
In your honest opinion - who's the better side-kick???

I picked Casey,
I picked him because he's got a part of him that really wants to go out there and do good for the world. Out of the three, he was the only one that was fighting crime before the Turtles entered his life. True he was handling it wrong, but he was doing the best he could to try and help better the world.
He's got his own back ground in fighting, so he's not learning from the same teacher as the Turtles as April and Cody are. He's got a different style which fits in with them when needed. True he does stupid stuff, but even the Turtles have done stupid stuff.
Really he fits in with the guys, to the point that if they were humans you would think he grew up with them. He's a lot of fun and a strong character. I find myself enjoying Casey episodes over April episodes. Cause they're usually insane, fast pace, and full of action.
April, as a child I felt this was the weakest character in the series for the original toon April was a joke. She didn't learn to defend herself, she was always in trouble and getting herself in trouble. She was annoying. And she was wearing my less favorite color. So yeah, as a child she got a bad grade in my book. The movie April was ok, but again didn't learn to defend herself, though at least did some fighting in the third movie when they were attacked.. not much before being pinned to the wall. Archie April was the best, she learned the sword, though wasn't nearly used as much as the weak April in the Cartoon.
4Kids April is good, she's funny. I like her best when she's teamed up with Casey, he adds to her character. On her own she's good and smart, though lacking in the hero heart and the comedy. She does what needs to be done when it needs to be done, she doesn't go looking to help others, she wants to live a normal life. She's got her happy little store, and that is where she wants to be. So being a Side Kick isn't really where April sits. True she wants to learn to defend herself, though she wants to learn because of the danger that comes to her, not because she wants to go out and protect the weak.
Cody... remember this is my personal point of view, and is not meant to be offending to anyone.... I find him annoying. I find the fact that he's a child younger than the Turtles, who keeps saving the Turtles annoying. I'm glad he's not thrown in our face as bad as Carter was, but I don't like his robot and I don't like how so much of the story is focused around him. He's not as bad as I originally thought, though he's still not a favorite characters nor do I think he'll ever make it into my top 100 favorite TMNT characters.
Side Kick? We're talking about a boy who has stayed hidden in his home all of his life, not needing to fight. Not needing to interact with so many people, and never going out to try and help other people. He enjoyed stories he read in a book, and instead of being inspired to do what the Turtles did, he wanted to watch them. So he made his time protal TV thingy, and oops brought the Turtles to the future. And now since the Turtles head out, he goes with them and thinks he can be a hero.
Learning to fight takes a lot of time, takes a lot of effort... and does not take building a big robot to hide in. The Turtles seem to have gotten weaker with their travel to the future, seeing the type of villains they're having problems with. So with weaker Turtles, and Cody barely keeping up with them.. that'd make him the weakest side kick yet. And really the robot he rides around in drives me insane! Donatello should even be able to teach Cody that a machine is not honor nor a good way to move around like a Ninja. Ninjas move in the shadows, and if he wants to train under Splinter, he should respect that he's being trained as a Ninja.
Sorry, but out of the above Casey is the only real Side Kick in my eyes. The others are friends, and Cody is a want to be side kick only for the adventure. Cody is in it for the wrong reasons.

I picked April - believe it or not. *ducks* Lol. As much as I can't stand her, she's gotten better over the years. The original April annoys the Hell outta me. I blame her for the fact I can't stand her. She's always in that stupid yellow jumper & the turtles always hafta save her. Annoying, really. But, I do love my TMNT. Then the ones with Carter - I don't remember too much - but, they were alright, I guess. I never did find out how they escaped Shredder & Krang though - I kept missing that episode [anybody knows, please enlighten me]. The movies I liked April in because she just seemed so much better. Though, I prefer her in movie 2 & 3 mostly & when they're at the farm in movie 1. She just seems so nice & stuff. And I loved her with Casey-lol. The last April we had [this is pre-new movie-lol] she seemed better. She can defend herself some & she's wittier. And though I'm still not fond of her clothes [haha] they are much better than they were before. And her hair is much better as well. I kinda like her. Casey, I enjoy - but sometimes, he's just too much of a klutz for me & kinda annoys me - though, I do love when him & Raph get into it - lol. Cody, I can NOT stand! I mean, the first couple episodes he was OK, but for HIM to be saving the turtles!?!?! THEY'RE NINJAS FOR CRYING ALOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They kicked major BUTT in their time & now Baby Cody just HAS to save them!!!! I mean, WTF!?!?! Why not call the show "Cody & The Turtles" or "The Cody Show" - it's just ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's my take - lol. ~Lenni~ P.S. I'll take Leatherhead over Cody ANY day!!!!!! LOVE Leatherhead!!!!

Choosing between April and Casey was pretty difficult, but I chose Casey. As Mikey stated above, Casey was fighting crime before the Turtles, and if he and the Turtles seperated, Casey could stand his own ground. He has a great sense of humor, can be slightly goofy, and has a soft spot for the ladies. There were many times in the 2k3 series that I laughed so much at poor Casey and his attempts at being a ninja April's a great sidekick, too and in her own way. She's a motherly figure, intelligent, and has common sense. Cody.. eh.. well, he has the heart and potential to become like his ancestors, but he grew up with all that he ever wanted and then some. That'll take a lot more time than two seasons with non-traumatic plots to help him reach the potential that might be there. If we could see a more emotional, personal side to him, I would obliged to throw him in the lineup.

Honestly, I quit watching TMNT Fast Forward. All I kept seeing was the same six episodes over and over again, & I can NOT stand Cody!!!!!! He's worse than April & needs a good swift kick in the butt!!! And the turtles need to Ninja kick Cody's Uncle all the way into oblivion!!!!!!

I picked Ape cause in the comics she is so their mother figure. She's fine in the 2K3 toon. Old toon...bleah!
Casey's cool but he's more like Raph's bud.
Cody needs to be hung.

Voted April because without her the turtles wouldn't get a whole lot of female interaction. Plus her getting kidnapped in the cartoon keeps them busy, and they need hobbies.

Considering how Fast Forward has TREATED HIM, I would nominate SPLINTER as side-kick-- and then I would rain down death and chaos and destruction and lots of nasty stuff upon those who pushed him into such a menial position!

Well I'd understand April if this was for most supportive character, but the poll was best side kick... and I never saw that as April, because she's not a fighter as I explained earlier. True she later learns how to fight, but Casey was in the game before he met the guys.

Na April only fought one fight, while Casey was still out every night. And Casey and Raph had their side kick debates

Yeah, April did only fight one fight - lol. But when she was in Japan trying to find Leo & was making her way through the jungle it made me think of that one cartoon episode where they're in the land of huge bugs & she goes all 'Jungle Girl' on them - haha.

I voted for Casey because...well he is my favorite TMNT character besides Splinter, and April from the cartoon is kind doesn't impress me very much. I like her much more from the CGI movie. Cody, they didn't show enough of him for me to have strong enough feelings on. I don't dislike him but I don't like him eighther.
