4Kids Entertainment lost $2.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2006 on revenues of $18.3 million, the company announced today. That compares to a $500,000 profit on revenues of $23.5 million in the same quarter of 2005.
For the year, 4Kids lost $1 million on revenues of $71.8 million, compared to 2005 earnings of $5.1 million on revenues of $80.6 million.
The company blames the drops on declining licensing revenue from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Yu-Gi-Oh! and falling sales revenues at 4Kids TV.
Chairman Alfred Kahn says the company has instituted a number of cost-cutting activities, but it is also negotiating a multi-year extension of its agreement with Fox to carry 4Kids TV. Kahn also noted that the company has cash and investments of $111 million and carries no debt.

Bah, go ahead and blame your two most popular shows. Maybe it's because the action figures aren't all that great, or that kids are spending more time playing video games than with figures?
4Kids served it's purpose by bringing TMNT back into the forefront, but the people in charge are kind of blech...

Oh, sure. Blame the BEST show [TMNT] they have on their stupid station! Why don't they blame The Winx Club & Bratz instead?!?!?!?!

Or face the fact they made a big change in the format of the TMNT show, to the FF. So...maybe they should analyze that?
Or they peeved off fans by denying us the Ninja Tribunal season, which they then compounded by not releasing as Region 1 and like it or not, those eps are now "bootlegged" and up on the net. Which I believe will impact their sales if they finally do get around to releasing it elsewhere on dvd.
Sure those of us on the message boards represent the core of the audience, but when even the fringe watchers that I know of are turned off by the FF and not watching it....and if the merchandise sales are tied to this and less people want the FF stuff.... Seems to me to be a diminishing spiral.
Contrasted against the movie, of which the full impact remains to be seen over the next few weeks. Weird.

A show like this won't be taken seriously at all untill we can do away with the money syste (i.e. toyetic show) and look at it as a piece of moving art. Executives ALWAYS have to fix what ain't broken and wreck it in the process..

The Fast Forward toys never came here, but I saw 'em in Myrtle Beach & they were cheap looking & I was NOT impressed, so personally, I don't blame kids for not buying those. But the movie action figures look AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

I find it very funny theyre blaming TMNT and Yu-Gi-Oh, but yet theyre dropping Winx Club and Bratz after this season, so it's pretty obvious as to the real reason why.

maybe it's the parents thinking those shows are too violent..., but I know kids love watching them, and do parents really want their little girls dressing like the bratz or the winx club? I mean Viva Pinata seems like a ridiculous show too, and I haven't even watch Chaotix, I have no idea what it's about,

I go into my local comic and card shop and when I used ot wokr at CVS they were always flying off the shelves

I'm surprised anyone even watches Yu-Gi-Oh. I mean it's so predictable, wheras Chaotic has this young, hip look to it that differentiates itself from all those other lame Pokemon wannabes!
For the record, I think Viva Pinata is cute and I'd love to show it to my niece sometime, but it certainly shouldn't be on 4Kids. I'd rather see it aired on Nick Jr. or something.

That's what happens when you screw up one of the most popular shows and make it loopy!!
We can start a bring back the real tmnt campaign and get their freakin attention!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with all the statements. Blame it on TMNT, just like they did 8 years ago (NT; TNM).
In fact, it's the only 4Kids show I ever watch.

Aren't TMNT and Yu-Gi-Oh their two biggest shows? What would 4Kids be without them?

I agree with you Brin. My fandom is not measured in how much I support it in money and time. I demand quality tmnt. As for blaming tmnt and YuGiOh, well.. Most people will blame scapegoats than admit their own faults. "The Man" is the worst for it and here's a perfect example. All those filler shows won't bring in the money that GOOD tmnt and yugioh would. If they're doing a bad job with the shows it means they need a better version or better plots. THEY screwed up. A show can't lose you money.. your bad choices did.. it's not like a tv show is a person with free will and choice.
