Hey everyone,

I pledge for the month of April I won't see any other movie than TMNT at the theaters.  This pledge is my own way of keeping the movie going strong and not putting the sales into the other movies.  I got a feeling this weekend Disney's new movie is going to put a big dent in the TMNT Profit, I don't want to be a part of that dent.   I want to try and put in to see TMNT once a week as long as they're at the theaters and if I can do a few more times a week as well, depending on time and money.

Anyone else up for trying this and seeing if it works?  I know this is a strange thing to do, though it's just one of the things that I've been thinking about doing.  This weekend can be important to the TMNT in the box offices too... I would love to see the TMNT remain in #1.

IMHO, I dunno if that's a good idea. I mean I already got to see TMNT twice in a row but I'm also anxious to see what else is coming out. Disturbia looks interesting and I might ask my cousin Kyle, who'se visiting from San Fransisco, if he wants to see it with me on Sunday.

I'd say it's cool to see TMNT again a few more times, but don't rule out any of the other films. Who knows, you might like to see something else while you have the chance!

Quite frankly, there is little out there I am anxious to see.  Anymore, the movies have so little to offer me.  And I am usually a sucker for the animation stuff, yet the new Disney one doesn't strike an interest in me.  The only thing I want to see at the moment is TMNT.

Harry Potter is not until July.  I want to see the British film "Hot Fuzz"-- but that won't open for some time.

And I am perfectly happy with going to see TMNT when the mood strikes!  Very Happy/Big Grin

I'm totally for this, Ivey, and will do my part, but don't worry too much about the turtles, they're holding their own with the public!!!

On www.imdb.com, for the first day totals, the new Disney movie (Meet the Robinsons) had a rating of 6.5 out of 10 with the public.  http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0396555/ratings

The Last Mimzy is averaging 6.5 out of 10 http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0768212/ratings

Bridge to Terabithia 7.2 out of ten. http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0398808/ratings

AND....the TMNT's from the same website has so far earned for it's first week's release an average rating of 7.1 out of 10
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0453556/ratings

So, it may have competition this weekend, but I know when I checked the stats late last Friday night, it faired better than Disney's new release did today - and the main critic for MTR gave it a far more glowing report than the turtle's flick.  Unfortunately, I didn't think to copy paste those stats anywhere.

In any event, the public knows what it likes and what it wants.  If TMNT can break $125 mil by the time they release it to DVD, I think we'll see a sequel.  $25 mil for the first week and if it averages half of that per week?  Well, it should do well in profits.  Yes, I don't doubt it will run it's course before June (although I'm hoping it's still going strong!), but if it can last through the end of May...you do the math.  It cost less to make than the first movie did, if I'm not mistaken.  So long as they make a profit, a sequel is almost guaranteed.  I wouldn't be surprised if they're working on it as I type, in fact.  :0)

Okay-- got back from my fourth viewing-- STILL loving it!

And considering the other movies opening, it was a surprise to me at the crowd-- small, but not REALLY small-- lots of kids and families (yay!  The girls were representing!), and the biggest laugh was still Mikey wanting to donate his Cowabunga Carl head to the trophy room.

AND this audience began clapping (at that point AND at the end).

I'll be seeing it one more time, and then that will be it. I only see a movie in the theater once or twice a year, depending on if there's anything worth the hassle. THeaters tend to be overwhelming for me as it is, so it has to be something special to get me to go to one. Usually it's the other people in it, they tend to be noisy and distracting.

Well, as for me, I missed opening night, but I went the next day(avoided the crowds, so not too bad a move!) The main draw for me(and a lot of people) was the Leo/Raph showdown. That was well worth the six bits I paid to get in! Raph's nightwatcher costume rocked too, as well as that music! YEAH! I think this will be a big boost for the franchise!
I would be surprised if they weren't writing the sequel right now. Karai threw a big hint to one before she disappeared at the end, to my excitement!  Very Happy/Big Grin
I won't be seeing much else until Spiderman 3, so I hope the theatres will continue to bow to green a while longer.  Wink

Well, I haven't made a vow to only give my $ to TMNT but it's what's going to end up happening since I rarely go to the movies. Spider-Man 3 would be the only other movie I'd give my business to, and since that's not released until May TMNT gets my undivided attention. I'm seeing the movie again three times this weekend to help support TMNT, and catching the morning/matinee shows so it's a little easier on my bank account. Happy/Smile

Three times as of today - took my husband.  My daughter is next -  probably Wednesday.  My son will probably come as well.

There was one inconsistency that I noticed this time around.  When April delivers the last general and begs one more peek from Max Winter, the general  has his mouth closed.  It was a long sustained shot, too, so I had plenty of time to evaluate it.  Then, in subsequent scenes, before and after his transformation, it's opened in a partial scream.

In any event, this particular showing today was the most annoying.  Everyone but my husband and I had kids in attendence - little ones, some were babies - and one wasn't too happy to be there.  :0(  The people behind us kept crinkling their packages throughout the entire movie and the person directly behind me kept kicking the back of my seat.  Between that and all the noisy chomping and kids squirming around and talking, not to mention a group that walked in during the early part of the movie and chatting very loudly, it made the third time experience less than satisfactory.  At one point, my husband had to chuckle with how 'over the top' noisy it was.

Maybe the fourth time will be better.  I hope the auditorium is fuller, though.  There were under 50 people there.  I've yet to sit in a packed or busy theater for this flick.  But, if they're anything like what we had to sit through, I''ll take a private showing any day.  :0)

I am so sad TMNT only did $9M in weekend #2. Sad/Down I don't blame people for not wanting to go to the movies; it IS ridiculously expensive, and the rewards are exactly what reinbeauchaser described. I'm going to keep going though to show my support.

I went for my 13th time today.  I'm going to go for having seen it 7 more times by next weekend to make it a total of 20 at least.   My real goal though is to see the movie one to two times a week if not more till it's out of theater.  I want to see them go back up in the box offices.

I HIGHLY encourage others to keep going to this movie.  What is your goal of times to see the movie.  I'd be impressed if I can do over 50 showings while it's at the theater.  So right now I'm thinking about making that my goal.

Leo and Ninjara got back from Tokyo this afternoon, and then they went to sword class, and then they will catch the 10 pm showing tonight, because Ninjara didn't want to wait any longer. They asked me if I wanted to come along, but I said I'd see it with them tomorrow. And as far as not having slept and jet ;lag, and so forth, I said to Ninjara, "You guys are nuts!"
But, that's the fandom for thee.  LOL  Wink

If they managed a few hours sleep in transit, it's only 1 in the afternoon tomorrow for them when they see the movie.  It won't hit for a couple of days.  I know when I first got back from the Philippines, I was tired, but jet lag didn't bite for about 2 days.  After that, I felt like a truck had hit me.  LOL  I think I was 'out of it' for about a week or more.

My son did well with his jet lag coming in from Iraq, although the first week he was a bit testy, good  natured, but testy at times.  I'm told flying east is hard, but he said going west is more so.  I didn't feel anything whatsoever flying OUT to the Philippines, but coming back was another matter all together.

Everyone is different.  I've heard of people that do quite well.  If you hydrate beforehand, it's easier on your system, regardless of which way you're flying.

But, I'd have to agree with you Aig, going to any kind of class and then taking in a movie the moment one lands sounds crazy!  LOL
