I think we need to question the need to think about that. I'm not sure our celebrity culture is healthy. We're saturated in externalization.

saturated in wha?????/ Big words! To me, TMNT are real - I still remember seeing [yes seeing] them in the sewers when looking down a hole on a sewer lid. I swear to this day that I saw Raph's hand reaching up for the manhole cover! I swear it! Though, it wasn't in New York at all - it was in North Bay, Ontario. Lol. They'll always be a part of my life NO MATTER WHAT!I choose TMNT to be my heroes! Like they always have been & always will be! And BSB - sorry, but I'm biased to them - lol. I'm sure they can be jerks at times, but they still do a lotta good. [ex. Save The Music, Children's Miracle Network, Make A Wish Foundation, Dorough Lupus Foundation, Healthy Heart Club For Kids, etc.] And yes, I know you're not saying that they haven't done any good, I'm just pointing it out. and they make fantastic music! Lol. ~Lenni~

It means our entire lives are lived ourside of ourselves and we define ourselves by our relation to other things.. what country we're from, sports team, shows we watch.. It reminds me of Borg.
"I am 3-9. What is Your Designation" "I am 30 female american idol, redbull, silver ipod, 44000 a year, two kids"
o O
The difference is TMNT are fictional characters and in exploring them we can ask questions about ourselves and the world and life. We can't do that by being obsessed with our newest idol. No stories can be written about them without a lawsuit and I doubt you could learn anything about yourself from them.

I've written plenty of stories about my fave stars - and a few about TMNT. They won't sue you - besides, the majority of us put Disclaimers on our fics. As for learning anything about yourself from them, I've learned I highly enjoy helping others and seeing people's dreams come true.
But, to each his own, I guess.

~Lenni~ Just because they haven't sued doesn't mean they can't or won't. I remember Saban clamping down on Power Rangers websites & fics about 9 years ago, and they did threaten to sue one guy who had a website up. Most companies do realize that fans are not making money from their characters but some aren't so understanding. Fanfiction.net doesn't allow fanfics about 'real' people any more and I'm guessing it's to avoid any potential lawsuits - they'll also pull categories if the owners of the copyright complain. We're very lucky that Mirage, etc. allow us to have websites or write fanfics about their characters.

Wow. That's totally insane! But I really don't see BSB suing, as people have posted Fan Fiction on their Official Fan Club - they even made a section for it.
~Lenni~
P.S. Yay for Mirage no suing! I'd be lost without TMNT fics!

If the TMNT were real, I would definitely bail on any celebrity to chill with them.

Let me think about this... let's look in my thought bubble Me: Oh my gosh it's Alexa Vega, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sarah Brightman, and all my favorite celebrities!! Leonardo(TMNT): Hey. Michelangelo(TMNT): Hi ya dudette!! Raphael(TMNT): Yo. Donatelo(TMNT): What's up? Me: *look at celebrities* ... *look at turtles* ... Oh lookie! It's a cliff! *shove celebrities off than run up to the turtles* You guys are gods!! Yep. i gotta choose the turtles.

I chose the maybe option. I think it would depend on which celebrity it was. If I saw Tom Cruise or Johnny Depp, I'd choose Leo over them any day as I can't stand them. But if it was one of my favoriter wrestlers like John Cena, then I'd be torn.

That's easy for me: The TMNT are already my favorite celebrities! I like other celebrities sometimes if I can relate some of their personality/character's traits back to one of the TMNT.
