When I joined Michelangelo, her mom, Brinatello, Cynlee, and Buslady at the TMNT premiere last March, we noticed the stars on Hollywood Blvd's Walk of Fame.  We talked about how neat it would be if the TMNT's were so honored.

At the time, I believed the cost of having one installed - per approval by the 'powers that be' - was around $10,000.  that was probably true a few years ago, but - I was wrong just the same.  It's more than that.  More like $25,000.

To be fair, though, that fee includes not only the installation, but the upkeep, too, so it's  not that bad a number, I guess.  Not sure if it includes the cost of the ceremony required, but in any event, for those curious about how to proceed, here's the website detailing the step by step trek towards having the TMNT's so honored and immortalized - http://hollywoodchamber.net/icons/faq.asp

A little FYI for all you fanatics.  :0)

The Walk of Fame is in Hollywood, California.  Years ago, not sure when or by whom, someone decided it would be cool to immortalize current stars of that time.  So, they came up with creating stars - the size of a section of sidewalk, about 30x30 inches - and emblazoned with the names of honored celebrities.  It caught on like wilddfire.  You may have heard of the Grauman's Chinese Theater?  If not, here's a website that can tell you more - http://www.manntheaters.com/chinese/index.php.

Blocks of sidewalks on Hollywood Blvd - and probably other streets as well (not really sure) - have these stars.  Such current day celebrities so honored would be Kevin Costner, Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas.  Other offside celebrities might be Lassie and Godzilla - not kidding, I saw it that day I went to the premier!.  So, I thought why not the TMNT's?  I mean, they're practically a household name, anyway.

Here's the wikipedia info about the Walk of Fame - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Walk_of_Fame  It will show you what the stars look like.

Hope that helps and thanks for asking about it.  I forgot that there might be a few on this site unfamiliar with our California-based tourist trap.  LOL

Be blessed,

Well, it also depends if you can get a petition and then get it approved.  One of the radio stations here tried last year to get one of their long-time djs a star (after these other two djs from a different station got one!), and it wasn't approved-- but THIS year for some reason it was.  And James Doohan's son (you know James D-- Scotty on Star Trek) had to really work and petition to get his dad a star.

I'd like to see Eastman and Laird get a star, actually.

It takes up to five years to get an approval and if not by then, you have to re-submit it and wait - again.  Sometimes it takes several years before someone gives the nod.

Yes, approval is mandatory, both from those deciding who's getting a star as well as from the person so honored, that is if they're not the one petitioning.  And for those who have died (I believe 'Scotty' was somewhat into his Alzheimer's at the time of his ceremony), one has to wait 5 years before submitting a name.

Yes, E&L would look good on Hollywood Blvd.  :0)  I'm sure their turtle 'kids' would love to turn out for that event, as would all of us!  LOL

*grumbles* Oh, how lovely. Could they price it any higher? Yeesh! Was it not bad enough BSB [backstreet boys] fans were having a hard enough raising $10,000 but now we hafta raise $25,000!?!?!?! That's NUTS!!!!! And what's worse - last I'd heard, BSB's managers or whoever it was, is refusing to let us get them a star on the Walk Of Fame!!!! And we've got the petition done & ready & have already raised about $2,000! Freakin' people!

Best of luck getting TMNT one! I think we'll need it. Hikarumba!
