Ok. This question has been driving me nuts for a while now so I feel I need to ask this question here, since I've seen it used on this board (as well as other places). What the heck is LOLZ? I know LOL is Laugh Out Loud. Is LOLZ a sign that you'd be Laughing Out Loud...in your sleep? Is a plural Laugh Out Loud, with the S turned backwards into a Z? Someone...please explain...

Apparently it's something that is pronounced el oh el, and then it's in the second person pronoun, present tense, something like that... like, he lols. Kids say such odd things nowadays... then again I'm sure our parents said the same about us. "What does anyone see in those mop-haired fellows, called the Beetles?"

The way to say lol while you sleep option was great XD I think it's just one of those clever new ways to say lol though...and I really don't understand it. Kinda like "o rlly?" is supposed to be oh really and "sez" is says and for some reason some kids (like my little cousin and little sister) think it's so much cooler to actually type out "oh em gee" instead of omg...i thought the point was that the letters were supposed to shorten what you were trying to say, making it all faster and easier to type? I really don't get it anymore. I see the "z" added on to alot of things, I guess it's just a way to make every word cooler somehow heh

Well I say this all the time... it is kind of like a lazy way of saying lol. So I guess it is a silly way, but a bit cool in other ways. However note that lolz isn't laughing as loud as lol.

Even many german people in chatrooms use this kind of talking.
They say "Hmpfz" for example and it means nothing but hmph only with a Z at the end. There are many other words where they put the Z behind it. They even write with aim words totally wrong. Maybe they do it, because it looks funny to them.

FWIW... Have to admit, I do enjoy making up words as well.
I initially figured it was another way to say "he/she laughs", as in the present tense. LOLs, lolz... AFAIK, language is turning into acronyms. BTW, there's a new phone service commercial where this kid speaks in acronyms, she says "oh em gee!" and it has subtitles saying "Oh my gosh!" And "MBFF Jill" (my best friend forever Jill) "TISNF!" (That is so not fair!) Her mother had been complaining about the phone bill because she text messages her BFF 50 times a day, and was taking her cell phone away... Etc. (etcetera)
LOL! (laugh out loud)

I like that one. There's some I can't figure out what they mean, in English, even. A recent one I learned is IAWTC, (I agree with that comment.)

I've seen that commercial! It makes me lol...and also roll my eyes, because that's totally how my little sister and little cousin talk out loud...like they're still on the computer or texting or whatever heh.
And don't worry...there are some out there that I can't understand either XD
