Quote from: "Mirage Site"

NECA, National Entertainment Collectible Association, has signed a license to produce and distribute collector's market TMNT action figures, statues, busts, weapon prop replicas and bobbleheads based on the TMNT comic books from Mirage Studios. These items will be avaialble to small independent retailers, independent toy stores, comic and hobby shops, and specialty chains. The design and development process has just gotten started, so prduct won't be available for awhile. We'll post news from the folks at NECA as soon as possible!

Hey everyone,

This news has been up on the Mirage site for a little over a week now, and figured we can discuss it here.   What does everyone think of this?   Are you excited?  Which toys are you hoping to see?

Personally I'm excited about this part "based on the TMNT comic books from Mirage Studios", which means more likely these toys will only be based on the Mirage line, which is something I've always dreamed of being done.  I'd love to see a Renet toy, and collector toys for each of the Turtles.  I wouldn't want to see another range of "Let's make Michelangelo with this face, than with this face wearing a jean jacket"... I'm more hoping for a serious collector toy line based only on the Mirage Comics.

Since Playmate toys owns so much right with the other toy lines out there, I don't think we'll see anything from the cartoons or any other area of TMNT besides Mirage from Neca.  I hope that the fans except this well enough that we get a good run from Neca on TMNT toys.  They make plushies too... ooohh how I'd love a set of Mirage style Turtle plushies!!!! Happy/Smile

Anyone else with thoughts and comments on this?

Yeah, it sounds like it will be fun to see. Especially the idea of there being more plushies. I hope they are like the old style as far as size goes. and that they are ultra squushable. My daughter has the old Mikey 20 inch (or so) size, and it make a great pillow.  Love

I want a Mirage Raphie plushie!!
Love  Love  Love  Love  Love  Love  Love  Love

I'm looking forward to some good looking TMNT toys & other goodies. More Raph stuff to buy! WOO!  I think I'm gonna need a new 22" Raph plushie, I hope they make a big one like that. My poor Raphie is wearing out. The belt is totally thrashed but it's still there!

why do I have this image of you swinging your Plushie Raphie around by his belt?
And saying things like: weeeeeeee! Go Ninja Go!

Okay, I'm kidding around, I'm overtired after getting home late from an LA weekend trip.
 Cool

I am hoping for something that gets away from things just about a gimmick. Something that looks GOOD, and has some kind of actual significance to the characters and stories....

Mirage plushies?! Awesome! I hope they make them, too! It's great that they're endorsing the original comics.

Even though I don't own a single plushie. Must... rectify.. this...

Changed this to a poll and adding some pictures... poll is acting weird... having the first option 3 times is not my doing, it did that itself.

Murph has been keeping us fans up to date with TMNT news on his blog at http://the-5th-turtle.blogspot.com/ if you have not been there I highly recommend checking it out for lots of great TMNT news!

One of the things he's been keeping us up on is the Neca Toys!   Here are some of the updated pictures that has come out.

This is Raph, not done yet...

Mikey almost done, chucks need to be colored differently.

Toy Review magazine isn't out yet, I want it... it's the next issue that's going to hit the stands!!!!

LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL

Yeah.  Funny how that poll decided to stick 3 "I want 'em"s in there *by itself*.

Do you really think it was just a co-inky-dink?   Rolling Eyes   I don't.

    Okay....back to this world.....

Being a Mirage junkie, I will most likely be buying these Mirage design/based collectibles.

And a plushie that actually comes out looking like one of Mirage's Turtles would be a big plus.

Thinking back on the ones that came out in the early 90's.....I think they could have been done better.  They weren't huggable.  Too stiff.  They were more suitable for bapping.  Which is exactly what my boys would do to each other with them in the car.  Especially those ones that had the suction cups on the hands and feet that were for sticking onto the car windows. Confused

One thing I would really love to see on the market is a wind-shield shade for cars.  Kevin's mom had one for her truck.  The picture on it looked like the Turtles were in your vehicle driving it.  I don't think it was ever available commercially, but it's a riot to see.  One of them has the steering wheel....Raph, if I remember right, (or maybe it was Mike) and the others are freaking out......I guess because he's got 'that look' on his face and he's driving crazy.

I'll have to see if she still has it and get a picture of it posted on here.  It's hilarious.
