I'm curious of what people think of Myspace and Facebook. I personally can't say much about Facebook since I don't have an account there. Though I know I've been invited to get an account there and many people have tried sending me there. I just feel I got so much going on with DJ, LJ, DA, TMNT-L and myspace not counting all the other places I stop in to say hi at. I keep busy on the computer.
So here's a topic where people can.
1. Say why they like myspace/facebook (or both). 2. Share their URLs (both myspace and facebook) 3. Say what got them to join myspace/facebook (or both)

To answer the questions. 1. I like myspace because of all the cool people on there. A lot of my friends and family have myspace accounts. And I was very surprised at how many voice actors have myspace, so it's a good way to keep up with some of your favorite actors on what their next project or event they're going to is. I also really enjoy Weird Al's myspace as he posts up new music videos and so on. Through myspace I've met a lot of interesting people, found myself doing different things. Be it how a few radio stations have gotten a hold of me, to arranging meet ups to see the TMNT movie. There's just a lot of things I really enjoy with myspace. 2. http://www.myspace.com/IveyAngelo3. I started using it one day after seeing it mentioned in Fugitoid's AIM. I went saw his page and joined that day. Than got hooked to it.

Hmm...I wonder what prompted this post... Personally, I use DJ, LJ & Facebook, at least for now. Admittedly, I almost never use the DJ account anymore, since most of my friends there migrated over to LJ and my posts kept getting spammed on Dead Journal. Live Journal is my standard journal, I check it every day. That's the one I tend to give out if I'm posting it to some place like TMNT-L, or other message boards. I don't use my real name there and I keep up with online friends there. I like that you can check the recent posts of your friends all on one page. http://raphemer.livejournal.com/Facebook, I use to locate old friends/former coworkers, people I've met in person. I use my real name there, which is why I don't post the address on message boards or other public forums. A lot of people that I've reacquainted myself with there, use the extras and have fun with it...I just use it to catch up with people. Like LJ, I like that you can see what all of your friends are doing at once. Myspace...I've resisted that one. Like Mike, I find that I've got enough on the go as it is, without adding anything else. And, honestly, when it started getting really popular, I was just contrary enough to say "I'm not enough of a sheep to jump on that bandwagon". Seriously, I don't know enough about Myspace but the little I've seen hasn't made me fall in love with it. Maybe it's just first impressions, but it looks like you'd have to go check every friend individually, when they've updated. (I could be wrong on that)

I have no idea what would have prompted this post While I have accounts for both... I really just use DJ, LJ, and MySpace. Found a lot of old friends from High School through MySpace and I keep up with them through that, but I do all of my posting through LJ. I'm not a big fan of MySpace or anything, but its easy to use. My LJ is http://phoenixgal79.livejournal.com while my Myspace is http://www.myspace.com/phoenixgalCan't remember who initally sent to me MySpace... but Thanks!! I've been able to find long lost friends.

Heh well really this topic has been on my mind since people started bringing up facebook to me. It's kind of like our topic for DJ or LJ to see where the members here hang out. I don't see myspace as a journal type page, more as a networking page to make more friends and get personal messages. I do blog here and there on it, but not often. Though the way myspace works is if you want to keep up with a friend's blogs you Subscribe to it, you get messages when those friends update their blogs on your front page (which is not the profile page you see when you're looking on myspace). Your home page has your messages, comments, friends, bulletins (which is something where if you post on it, it'll go to all the bulletins of your friend list... it'll only stay on there for 2 weeks but that's enough time for people to read it over if they're interested), it lets you know if you have friend requests, invites to events, birthdays. When I go to myspace the only page I really check is my home, from there if there's updates I'll look at them... be it blogs (which I don't see updated often) or messages (which I get a lot of). The profile is only a place people can go to learn about you. They can comment on the stuff you have there, but you're notified about that in your home page area. I like that you can post photos and videos up on there as well. Just to give an idea of how myspace works.

LJ is my main home, cuz it's the first blogging thing I got introduced to several years ago. I also like it cuz of all the communities I've become a part of on it, and the fact that one of the creators of my fav show keeps one which he uses to keep his fans up to date on things! Plus I have millions of icons to use on it which I love. Myspace is my other main used, and I like that cuz I can post cool pics of myself on it, plus alot of my friends and even family have myspaces....as well as the OTHER creator of my fav show! So there ya go, my two main favs!

I have... LJ, DJ, myspace, facebook...and a blogspot. Gads, I feel like such a nerd! Facebook is more for hooking up with old friends, no I will not share the link because it's seperate from the rest of my online life and will remain so. Hardly ever use DJ, but I'm most often on LJ, and occationally on myspace...LJ is friends only, for the most part, so...*shrugs* Eh. Don't really have any consious preferance. The blogspot is for vow renewal stuff, so it's more of a journal with a specified purpose.

I've got MySpace but it's mainly for getting in touch with family and old college mates. Feel free, I don't check in much though. http://www.myspace.com/LadyRSantiI find that DeviantART pretty much does what all those others do AND is more convenient for those of us creative types and it has the built-in blog. Anything more and I'd just be repeating myself on four or five different sites. I don't see the point, personally.

Wow I'm finding it interesting that people see Facebook as more of a RL friends only area. That's different but cool.
I just joined facebook to check it out, but so far not feeling the hooked feeling I got with myspace. Though at least now I'm on there for anyone who wants to search me up. I'm just going to be trying to figure it out for the next few days.
From what I can see for those who don't have it, it reminds me a little of myspace, but your profile and your home is the same page. You click and drag things to arrange your profile. There's an area for comments called the wall, but there's no bulletin. There is an inbox, I haven't got any messages there so I can't compare it to myspace yet.
The reason I joined : I first got in invite from Tokka awhile ago, than another one appeared yesterday from another friend of mine. So I decided to take the invite this time.

Wow I'm finding it interesting that people see Facebook as more of a RL friends only area. That's different but cool. Actually, facebook was originally created for hooking up with old school/business friends...if I remember correctly, way in the beginning, you were only able to get a facebook if you had a university e-mail or something...? My memory could be faulty, but...yah. I don't like having people I just met online know my real name or all my stats...it's been a good forum to hook up with people, who I was fond of in school but never thought I'd speak with again. In fact, last week an exchange student I went to school with found me there, and we've started a little bit of corespondance. It's really pretty neat, but the entirety of the net doesn't need to know the entirety of anyones' lives. But yeah...anyway. *ahem* It's pretty nifty.

I've been invited to Facebook and MySpace several times over, but I'm not really impressed with either. I have an LJ, dA, and then part of various forums. I would like to get a MySpace for my onair personality in the near future. It's a great social networking tool, as Mikey mentioned.
Facebook might be something I'll look into later on, maybe.

Anyone on myspace who's interested, I've been uploading a TON of pics lately there. Just figured I'd mention here that there's an update, with pics from many of the events from the last so many years

Had an interesting talk while at March Toronto Anime Con with some friends who live there. They feel that Facebook is more a Canadian thing and myspace is more US. I have been taking part a bit more in facebook these days, though I still find myself liking the lay out and set up of myspace more. It's just easier for me, and I do like things simple.

Facebook started at Harvard (I think?) and started adding other colleges. Then they opened to all colleges, then to high schools, and now to everyone. I use it for my college friends and for a few people I've known on the internet for a long time. I also have LJ, but it's all friends-locked since my stalker found it.

I had to "friends only" my LJ too cuz friends who became enemies started saying horrible things to me there and also were sending their friends to do the same and so on and so forth. It happens to the best of us, unfortunately.

Sadly that does happen, people don't always keep their issues to themselves and feel they have to vent and attack others... and get their friends involved.

I even go around buying people I don't know, for them to be bought by someone else or given as a gift... to raise "Lunch Money" hehehe I got 15 photos up for sale on there, and the TMNT ones sell well

I think you like that thing a bit ooo much I still prefer MySpace over it. I'm just more comfortable with it and just enjoy it more. FaceBook does have some neat stuff though, specially in finding people I use to go to school with. That is awesome! Found a girl I thought I'd never find again!

Every few months, I'll go through and delete the 20-30 requests that have accumulated on Facebook. I did add the Fun Wall application but all I had on that were some generic holiday messages that some folks on my friends' list had sent to everyone on their friends' list. I deleted the application about 2 weeks after I'd added it. I have added a few trivia quz apps, but that's just my competitive nature.

I know what you mean Raph. I'm starting to get a lot of request to join things that.. I'll never really take a part in. I do appreciate being thought of but, I don't have the patience or will to sit and play with a lot of those applications on facebook. So it's alright to buy a friend if you want, but if I can't keep up with it, sorry

Buying friends is the only real thing I do try to keep up with on there. Not sure how long this craz with last but it's been fun. Esp with Miki taking an active part in it too. It's also one of the few things that Georgie Pie and I both do these days, I don't get to see her much online. But I know she's around when she sends me a human gift or pokes me here or there on face book.
I still perfer myspace over facebook though... even though I'm learning more about FB now, MS is much earlier to learn... (ok... maybe cutting it down to two letters won't work with these two sites... FB reminds me of Fox Box and MS well... that reminds me of what my mom is going through).

That or Facebook offers goodies if you invite your friends. Like with owned you get $3,000 Face book cash to invite friends. So there's that little perk.

1). I like MySpace for the variety of people (living & dead) that are in it (though it's a fansite for the dead). What I can't stand is slutty people asking me to be their friend in the friend requests. Have about 443 people & I do place them in categories. 2). http://www.myspace.com/816000173). A friend from Tv.com told me about this 2 years ago. Also like the MySpace groups. Yes, I do have a TMNT group as well as TMNT pics in my profile.

Yup, you can buy your friends It's like a auction area over people's photos... people know and don't know... at first I only bought people I know and fought with friends over photos... but I learned you can make more money in auction fights over pictures. So I buy pictures cheap and fight over the pictures till I get a good profit on it
