Do you think that if the turtles didn't already know each other and grew up together as brothers that they would still be friends? Or do you think that given the fact they they are the only have each other in the world that that is the reason they like each other. Would they have anything to do with each other if their circumstances where diffrent?

Lets say there is an alteternate reality where the turtles didn't grow up together as brothers and they did not know each other (like say they are all human teenagers that meet up in High school for the first time.) Do you think the turtles would like each other and possiable become friends with one another? Or do you think given their differing personalites and interests that if they wheren't already brothers they wouldn't have any thing to do with each other?

Which set of brothers do you think would like each other and become friends? Which set of brothers would only be polite aquantices. Which set of brothers would be completely turned off by the others personality and mannerisms and hate/sat away from each other?

I'm talking 2k3 personalites or Ot personalites of the turtles.

It's difficult for me to accurately imagine them and their interactions as human teens in highschool since their uniqueness and lifestyle has a large effect on who they are. The conditions don't make the person, but in this case of extremes, it certainly contributes a lot. Like in real life, the people who have survived and become stronger through adversity, hardships, and unique situations are often individuals with the most depth and defining personality. Dealing with such things often bring forth stronger defining characteristics and strength, and to be without such growth opportunities would mean less evolved morality, discipline, values, and certain aspects of behavior.

Our Self is like a metaphysical muscle- the more challenges it faces and the harder it has to work, the stronger it becomes. We've all met people who have been met with little to no adversity in their lives, don't appreciate the value of what they have, and are over-all seemingly shallow personalities. Bubble-people. They're not bad people by any means, they just haven't had the opportunity to learn life lessons and test themselves in order to learn about their Self. So to change someone's entire life, species, conditions, etc., is really to change too much about the person for me to determine what they would look for in a highschool friend.

My opinion.  Wink

I should know the answer to this given the fact I have two AU sets of turtles whom both did not grow up together.  One from the earlier 1900s and the other from a modern world where humans and other sentients live side-by-side.

Overall, I think it depends on the circumstances as opposed to the 'verse they are from.  Both my sets come from two very different places and grew up very differently from each other, yet... they've both all found each other (short of the 1900 Leo who's player hasn't been heard from in.... months, but that's neither here nor there) and remained neutral to brothers.

Given their loyalty to each other though in all the 'verses, I think I'm of the opinion, no matter what happened to them, they'd always find each other and there'd be something to bring them together.  Of course, they are only fiction...

No one truly knows what messing about with time-lines (or alternate realities) really can do.

I'm only asking myself what posssessed me to respond to this at all now... :)

I think Leo & Raph would be mortal enemies if they weren't brother. Their tempers when together - especially Raph's - could be pretty dangerous to tangle with. As for Donnie & Mikey - well, Leo & Donnie maybe - though I think Donnie'd prolly be more of a loner. Mikey - Leo would ocnsidered him more of a pest than usual, & Raph prolly would too, unless he look beyond that to see how loyal Mikey is - then maybe. And Donnie, like I said, would be a loner, so I doubt he'd allow Mikey into his lil' inner circle.

I could see Mikey and Raph hanging around each other outside of school. Leo and Raph would probably be acquaintances or a sportsmen, either against each other or playing on the same team. I definitely see Don mostly to himself but could spend time with Mikey, like he did in TMNT 1?

Good question.

I think given the fact that the turtles have such strong personalites that they would not get along with each if they crossed paths in anything more than causal interaction. Thats just what I think. I think in some ways Leo, Don, Mikey and Raph might respect each other to a degree but I think for the most part they would clash horiably if they didn't have the benefit of the emotinal closesness one has with siblings or members of their own family. The fact that some one is your family you tend to excuse some of their personality flaws because you also love them and have an emotinal attachment to them. Which I think the boys would be less inclined to put up with with each other if they wheren't you know...brothers.

But to put my two cents into this. I think each the boys would be from diffent social cliches. I think maybe Donatello and Leonardo's social cliches would overlap with each other and they would interact and possiably get along but I don't see them getting "best buddy" close. And I can even picture them butting heads with each other on certain academic situations as well. Since I would imagine both being rather studious in diffrent ways.

Raphael...I would almost say he would be in the jock social circle but some how I think thats just too conventional for him. Raphael I see as more of a quite mysterious loner with a small group of friends who enjoys shop classes, and has a tough guy reputation at school but not really a trouble maker that picks fights; but mostly some one who gets into fights because guys pick fights with him because of his tough guy reputation. I would imagine he would not travel in the same circles where he might encounter Donatello or Leoanrdo's sphears but if he did he would be rather indiffrent to them both and if he had a more involved encounter with them he might think much of Dontello (unless Donatello was more than cooly polite to him) and Leoanrdo I imagine he would be eighther rather wary or cold to him and maybe slightly put off by Leoanrdo's polished mannerisms.

I like your hypothesis, but I can see Michaelangelo being more of a jock type. I mean he's just so energetic that I could see him getting involved in all sorts of sporting events! Evedently, I couldn't help but noticed you forgot to even mention him. Rolling Eyes

to be completely honest I think the turtles that would not get along at all (if they wheren't already brothers), would be Michaelangelo and Donatello. In the turtles situation where the turtles eniviroment is so closed off and is restricted to two type A persoanlites and type B personalites, its natural that the two gentelier and peaceful turtles would gravitate toward each other. But I think that in a normal social setting like High School or something that Donatello and Michaelangelo's personalites would clash.
