Never pay full price for a late pizza

Wow I can't believe we never started this topic!  Though I know a lot of people don't really respect or care of this movie it deserves a topic too!  It is part of TMNT History and I'm sure people have fun stories to tell as well in this area.  Please if you don't like this movie do be respectful with no bashing of it.

March 19th, 1993 TMNT 3 came to theaters.  This movie being different from the last two, as we had a new company making the costumes so the characters had new looks which many were not too thrilled with.  The story line was new, it did not have the Foot involved at all, and they even left New York.  So they were testing new grounds with the Turtles, bringing them to the past.

I remember when I first learned that TMNT 3 was finally being made was at Turtle Con, August 23rd, 1992 where they had a stunt Michaelangelo costume on display for people to get their pictures with.  I was so excited.  I tried asking questions about it at the big panel with Eastman and Laird and the full Mirage crew.

Me: "Are the Actors who played the Turtles returning?"  - Them: don't know think Leonardo is... know April is.

Someone else in the crowd: "Is the Shredder going to be in the Movie?" - Peter Laird: No!  *crowd laughs at how fast he answered*

I made friends with a lady at the convention who was an extra in the movie so she gave me some information about scenes she got to witness being filmed.  And I learned of them going to Japan, I learned that day about the pizza Mike tried to make in the past, and about the village burning down.  I was so excited.

Here is a picture from this event:

March was getting closer and the novel came out so I read the novel.  Than magazines started to be released... all of which I was collecting as they came out.

On March 19th, I woke up with a goal in mind.  Get sent home from school so I could go see the Turtle Movie with the first showing.  Though I had to take a Math test that morning.  So I went in playing sick, but I played sick a little to well the teachers sent me home less than 10 minutes after I got to the school.  Though really I was doing well, that had to be my finest acting moment.  I'll never forget it.

I saw the movie and at first I was disappointed... the turtles looked like frogs and Splinter looked like a dog.   Though the more I saw the movie in the theaters the more I grew to love it as well.  That weekend I worked three different theaters as a Turtle.  The owners of the chain saw me at one of their theaters and followed me to another, they set it up so all of their theaters would hire us to work.  Man I loved being a Turtle!

I bought the movie the day it came out on VHS and now own it on laser disk and DVD.  I do have my problems still with the third movie like the costumes and all the extra lines that Corey threw in there for Donatello.  Though at the same time I have wonderful memories of the movie and favorite scenes and love the fact that Mike has a real story line in it, not just the comic relief.

This was the only one of the TMNT movies that I saw by myself every time.  No special premiere here, but its first showing was at 5:00 in the afternoon. I left work early to go to the movie, got there about 45 minutes early (to avoid the crowds). Brought a book along, read that while I waited. The place was packed by start time - in fact, a father had to split up his family to find seats. Guess I looked 'safe' as he left two of the kids sitting by me (can't recall specifics, but I'm pretty sure I was wearing a TMNT shirt, probably a watch or two, etc...). They were well behaved and it was cool to spend time with them.

As for the movie itself, thought it was ok. Yeah, the costumes were definitely different but I was just glad to have a new movie.

None of the above... I'm pretty sure I saw it on tape first, but I've never owned it (only the first two).

Wouldn't that have landed under the rented or borrowed from someone else?

Even if ya didn't borrow the tape, but watched it with them that is the closes to that which I could think of.

We never went to the movie theatre when I was little. This had nothing to do with the lack of one, of course, because there are a few of them around. We just...never did anything, really. Not until I was nine or older. My parents bought me each TMNT video as it came out, though. In '93, I was...five. And an avid fan who refused to be April while playing pretend with the neighborhood boys. Myself and another kid had to take turns with Donatello.  Happy/Smile

I was really let down with part 3, but I liked the feudal Japan concept a lot. They brought back Casey, but he became a rat-sitter instead... Confused

I didn't really like the way the costumes were, especially Splinter.....OUCH!!!!    Shocked ..And no Henson creature shop to top it all off. Why?

No Kevin Clash either, he was the true voice of Splinter, he was fantastic.

But I still saw it a few times, maybe abaut 4 or 6.

This movie wound up being the one I saw the least at the theater, but later on ended up being my second favorit of the movie series.  I only saw it once at the theater and it was only with my father.  I was dissapointed that fact Shredder didn't return, but I understood in the previous movie that he couldn't when he let the wooden dock structure collapse on him.  Althought I did find this movie to be the funniest Ninja Turtles out of all of them; the Japanese warriors in thier underwear when they were transported, April telling Walker that she'll melt him into a pile of puke, Leonardo putting his two swords together like scissors and cutting off Norinaga's hair, the Don King joke about Norinaga's spiked hair, Michelangelo wearing flowered shorts, and Splinter wearing the lampshade "just like Elvis in Blue Hawaii."  But like I said, it wasn't my top favorite movie to begin with, but ended up being my second favorit was time went on, it ended up being my second favorit movie, because of my love for the Japanese culture.  And just today I asked myself this with the idea of bringing Shredder into the third movie "why couldn't they bring a Feudal Japan Shredder as part of Shredder's origin?"

My favorite part of the movie was when Mikey sported the super-sized trunks!

Wanna go swimming?

Mikey in super-sized trunks.

My favorite quote in the movie..

"Sorry about the crack about having bad vibes.  You actually have great vibes!"

Would've been cooler if Mkey had said it near the end of the movie & Leo...

Plays the vibes!

I rented this one.  And was somewhat disappointed.  But, after watching it a few more times, I enjoy it now.  I like the Japanese history.

I loved this movie. At the time it was actually my favorite of the live-action trilogy. I remember making a scepter out of Contrux and pretending to travel through time with it.
