New Question:
Do you ever try to meet people from your past?

I do... I like trying to meet people esp entertainers from my past.  Recently I found contact with an actor that I saw perform live back in 1992, and he even wrote back.  So that was really cool.  I enjoy most of my past (besides for school) so if I liked that part of my past, than yes reconnecting with it for a little bit is not a bad thing Happy/Smile

Hiya

I wanted to say sorry about not being around lately...  even off on the TMNT-L Trivia this week... it's been one family thing after another.  So busy that I've barely had time to sit at the computer recently to play any of my games.

New Question:
If a family or close friend with children was loosing their place, would you let them move into your place?

It's happened before when a friend came here with her niece and now it's happening again.  My brother lost his place and is now living here as of yesterday with his wife and three kids.  Anyone who knows my house knows that it was a big chore to get it so that they can move in.  We're not done yet, as we're going out to buy locks for some of the doors in the house.

So if I'm quiet for another week, it's just the adjusting time.

I've never had to adjust my house for someone else moving in, but I've had to move myself around quite a few times, so I KINDA know what it's like, packing up things, moving things around and orginizing and trying to find room....it's not fun. Good luck to you babe, and no worries if you're not around as often as usual, we understand! Wink

New question:
Ever have to drive or ride in a U-haul Truck?

I just did the other day in helping my brother move out of his house.  I got to drive it all Wednesday... not a fan of driving big things... rather stick with small things like my bug Wink

New Question:
What is a pet peeve of yours that you have to deal with all the time even though you don't want to?

With me... it's medication... I hate it... but I end up with it for pain control... very evil stuff.  Which is one of the reasons I can't wait for my surgery.

Wow been that long since the last post... sorry... life has been... well... crazy

New Question:
Would you go up on a roof to trim branches if need be, or hire someone?

me, hire someone... though we got no money so my brother went up there... scary... our roof has steep angles so it wasn't easy on him at all...

If it was Gram's house, sure. It's just a one-level house and the rooftop's not steep at all, so I have no problem going up there.

The bigger farmhouse, though, no way. The addition/porch area is fine, easy to get to and not steep(just ask the cats, lol), but the main roof is way high and way steep, as it's a 2-level building. That'd be a point where we'd hire the pros to deal with it, and actually have at one point. Not for trees, but for reshingling a looooong time ago when I was a kid.

New Question:
Do you feel people with a lot of stuff should get rid of stuff to make more room in their places to live?

A discussion as of late that keeps coming up, people feeling that there's a lot of stuff here.  Though everything belongs to someone and one person or another has a reason for keeping their stuff.

I personally do not agree that we have to get rid of our stuff, we just need to get our own places.   Right now this place has three houses worth of stuff in here... from when my Grandparents lived here, to when we moved in to when my sister lost her place a year ago.  Now I agree we have to sort through things and get rid of stuff that doesn't have a personal connection... but I also know stuff like the items that belong to my sister's will be gone when she gets her own place.  So I don't think we should touch her stuff or say that it should be gotten rid of.  I wouldn't want people to get rid of my stuff.

I like stuff.  I think it's a waste to throw things away, so if there's things we don't want.  I think it should be sold not thrown away.  Which is a debate for another day.

We're going through a similar deal right now, actually.

Earl and I are trying to move back out to the farm by next June. Part of it is financial reasons, and part of it is because my parents are now in their 60s and it's soon time for me to take over. Dad'll never actually retire, no more than Grandpa did, even after hitting retirement age, but I still need to get my rear in gear for the family business.

That said, the family farmstead has been around and occupied since 1871. There have been FIVE generations living on the place, from my great-great-grandfather to soon-to-be myself. That's five generations of inherited heirlooms that have piled up, to say nothing of what's been inherited from my mother's side. So many things have piled up that we're currently clearing through things to make room for the move and to get my parents moved over to my late grandmother's place.

The only things we've thrown out have been garbage. Over at my gram's, that included some expired medicines and the like. Other things like clothes we've outgrown, kitchenware we don't use and such, we've taken to local thrift shops. Being that we live in the country, we can't have a garage sale like people do in town, so that's what we do, give clean, gently used things we don't want or need to thrift shops.

We also recycle some things as well, like a bunch of old newspapers that had been built up at Gram's for some reason or another that we took six bags worth to the recycling place. We were at it in the spring, then after the summer got busy, we picked it up again in the fall. I'm actually heading out after this post to do some more work on the place while Dad and Earl do some moving of heavy machinery to get ready for harvest.

When things get built up, sacrifices have to be made. People have to sit down, go through their things, sort out trash and recycling, then decide what they don't want or use or need and, if in good condition, give those things to someone who wants and needs them.

Each person needs to do it for their own things. Mom and I have sorted through our own things, and if we come across things of Dad's, we set it aside until he has a moment to sort through and have his say. We don't sort out things for other people. Even Earl's sorted through his things. It's going to take us awhile, but it's getting done.

New question:
Ever feel like the only time you get sick is when you got stuff you want to do?

I'm leaving in a week for NYC Comic Con, came down with a cold today.  Hoping to kick it before the convention, though feel like it's just going to get in the way of everything else I'm doing... *sigh*

New Question:
Would you order a channel that cost extra for one TV show?  Or wait for the DVDs?

I personally think for the most part I can wait for the DVDs or download from online.  Though my mom decided to order Show Time for the show "Dexter" I'm a bit amused by this.  I don't mind, cause I do enjoy watching Dexter with her.  Hehe

Wait for the DVDs or get it on iTunes.

I didn't get into HBO's Deadwood until just after it was over, but rather than order an extra channel we couldn't afford to add to our cable bill, we rented them for awhile. Now with our video store gone(like everything ELSE in this town...*sigh*), I'm buying the eps off iTunes, along with a few other shows.

Speaking of iTunes...an odd question.

Anyone know if the 2K3 TMNT is on iTunes or any such thing at all?

I ask because save for the first two or three seasons, stores around here only sold the DVDs very spottily. Last time I bought any was earlier this year, when I came across a surprisingly decent batch in Kmart's cheap DVD section involving the Rogue in the House eps. It wasn't an entire season, but it was a nice find after years of not seeing a single thing in any of the stores here, not even in the rental shop.

Rental shop had the movies, but none of the series. Like everything else I do in this town, I did get a few DVDs early on in the bigger cities, but I rarely get out to bigger cities to get the DVDs. Now I have iTunes and any shows/DVDs I can't get here and don't get to bigger cities often enough for, I just download a little at a time.

I've looked for 2K3 TMNT a few times, but no luck. I've found a few of the old school seasons listed, but nothing from the latest series. So I'm wondering if anyone knows if they've released it to iTunes and I'm just looking in the wrong spot or when it'll be released that way, if ever. Would be nice to get the eps instead of running to bigger cities or ordering everything from Amazon or something all the time.

I don't know if they're on itunes I don't use it Sad/Down

Most stores out here don't even have that much 4Kids series any more... even I gotta order from Bestbuy.com or Amazon if I want to replace any of my dvds for any reason.

Rats. Well, I'll just have to keep searching, then.

iTunes is my preferred way of doing movies/shows these days, but if nothing else, I'll have to save up and seek the DVDs on Amazon, then. Thanks anyways, was just curious. *shrug*
