Hey everyone,
I got to see "Nim's Island" last night. Free movie pass, Yay!
The movie is about a girl who lives with her father on an island all by themselves with a volcano. They don't want anyone else to come to their island, it's their own private home. The father goes out on a trip, leaving his 11 year old on the island by herself. A storm hits, and he doesn't return. The daughter, Nim, is doing emails with her favorite story book writer, though she believes that the writer is none other than the hero from her story books. And tells this hero that she needs help, her father is missing and she's alone. The writer must travel to find the island to help Nim.
I really enjoyed this movie, it's a simple movie full of laughs. There's even sea Turtles in it, as the reason that Nim let her father go without her. She stayed behind to see some baby see Turtles hatch and help them live. The writer is great, her name is Alex, and she is afraid to leave her house. She talked to her imaginary friend which is the hero of her story books, who is also named Alex. He is a lot different from her, as he's the brave hero type, while she is the scared of everything type. She brings a lot of the comdey to the movie, and makes it worth a chance to watch. There are things like time frames and unanswered questions, that make the movie very unbelievable though you realize early on, that if you try to find truth behind the silliness you're not going to enjoy the movie. To my surprise even my father enjoyed it. Some of the things that couldn't have happened on command was telling a seal lion to fart on command, getting a lizard to call for the other lizards on the island to all come running to Nim. The father getting his raft to come back on, and a few other things like that.
Over all this is a fun movie, I liked it.
