I've been meaning to be more active on the board again and since I can't seem to go to sleep tonight, I figured now would be as good as any other time. So... I came across this a few days ago. http://www.shutdownday.orgWhat's it all about you ask? It is obvious that without computers we would find our life extremely difficult, maybe even impossible. If they disappeared for just one day, would we be able to cope?
Be part of one of the biggest global experiments ever to take place on the Internet. The idea behind Shutdown Day is to find out how many people can go without a computer for one whole day, and what will happen if we all participate!
Shutdown your computer on 03 May 2008 and find out! I thought this is a very interesting sociological experiment, and I'm going to participate. I work on computers ALL day and something work related can come up for me anytime of the day. So I'm curious if this is even possible for me. I don't think it should be too hard for me cuz my cousin is visiting me later this week and I'll be showing her around. Maybe Walt Disney World or Universal. Then again knowing my luck, my job will mess it all up. So anyone else up for it?

Sure! I'd like to see if I can do that for the day. It'll be interesting to see what my day is like with out the computer. Means for music I'd have to actually pull the CD player out instead of using my playlist.. that means changing cd's a lot.. that's more work then I'm use to Oh well, maybe it'll be nice and I'll take my daughter out to play. Be a good way for me not to miss the computer. Not even be home for it

I can't do this even if I wanted to... the more the monitor is turned off the worse it gets... I did red outline of the problem, it's this blackness that seems to grow around the edges of my monitor and everytime I turn it off... it grows more. Weird as it may seem. When I first noticed it I thought I needed to leave my monitor off and was I shocked to see how much more there was the next time I turned it on, tested it again and bam again it happened. I need a new monitor but can't afford it.... *shrug* I'll turn off the lap top and other computers in the house, but not this one...

Comic Book day looks like it may be a slow day here on TMNT-L....
Hey it's a good excuse for those in the Mass area to go to that signing with Peter Laird and crew.

I won't be home on the 3rd (I'll be in Northampton ), so I certainly won't be using my own computer. May poke at a friend's or a public machine. But just as likely I won't.

Hmm. I dunno. For recreational purposes, sure, I know I coulddo without it, for a while, anyway. At least not go on the net. But as a word processor, my computer may very well be on, that day. So, I voted "we'll see."

Sounds like nothing'll be happening in #TMNT either, huh?
Bummer, hate wasting the few late nights I've got online...
It's a noble enough idea, but I seriously cannot see me doing it.
