Does any one here think that the old toon could have pulled off a City at War story arc? I' was just watching my episodes from volume five of season three and episodes like Uasgi Yojimbo, Beware the Lotus, and Usagi Come Home and I saw how awsome and semi-epic these episodes where in terms of fighting suspence, agnst and over-all plot. Especially in the Lotus episode, where Lotus breifly over threw Shredder and took his place in command and Shredder's bitter rivalry and resentment at being replaced by her, and his way of making it seem she had betrayed Krang. How easy could it have been for this conflict to have accumulated into a City at War type story arc in the old toon with Lotus and Shredder battling it out for supremacy and it being taken to the streets of New York and the turtles getting swept up in the middle of the conflict, whitsle all the gangs in the city taken advantage of the chaos to run wild. Plus the added bonus of the wary respect Leoanrdo and Lotus had for one another to add agnst to to the whole conflict.

Do you think the old toon could have pulled off its own version of a City at War-esch type story line and done it justice? Or do you think a City at War story arc just wouldn't have worked in the old toon at all/

Hard to say, it has been a while since I've seen the old cartoons. From what I'm recalling, I have a hard time picturing the old series doing any of the stories that the 2003 series has done. I could possibly see some Fast Forward stuff that would be 'backward compatible' to the original series (assuming you're talking about the pre-'Red Sky' stuff, of course).

CaW would never had flown in such a kiddified cartoon, as fun as it was, in its day.
The 2K3 series version of CaW worked, in a similar way that anime works, where you can effectively mix humorous moments with a more serious type of drama.

I think that a City At War-esch sort of story would have been pulled off well in the old cartoon.

I  think the conflict between Lotus Blossom and the Shredder and the turtles was just such a good one that I felt that it would have been nice to see a sort of story arc where Lotus comes back for revenge on the Shredder for dishonoring her, and it escalades into a ninja battle between the two in the streets that the turtles have to disfuse. And I don't know put some real closure to the Lotus Blossum character. Because as it was I felt that her episode where she says she listens to Leoanrdo but doesn't fully come over to his side was very cryptic and agnst with her indecision to give up her mercenary life.

And I'm not saying it would have to be really hard core and dark like it would in the 2k3 series, but a ninja show down between the Shredder and Lotus on the streets of New York would be cool, I could see all the gangs in the old toon show gatting involved, like Pinky Mcfingers, Don Turtellie, and the Cyber punks gang. You know the one from season two? I always wanted to see more of these guys in show.

No, actually I don't, not with the dark, serious themes CaW had to offer in the original books.  In truth, I would love to see the full CaW books done in animation, as in exactly from the books, panel by panel and looking exactly as they did Eastman and Laird style with all red bandanas.  Am I spelling that word wrong?  It's got a red line under it, well, I see the line as I type, but you won't!  Bandanna.  No red line there, but that looks wrong!   Embarassed

do you think it could work if it happened during red sky when the show became more serious and action oriented? I think it could have worked there and would have been a better send off for Shredder than what was given in the last season of Red Sky.
