This trip has been well... a trip of no sleep....
We're trying to save money so Miki and I are sleeping in my VW Bug, we got the back pulled down and a bed made out of it. Though ever try to fit two full grown people in the back of a bug... not a fun thing to do. Night one was hard on us, neither of us got to sleep. So we got to Wizard Con on no sleep, a review of the con will explain how that day went.
Saturday night we drove to a rest area and slept in the car about an hour and a half away from Crittle's. Once again, we didn't sleep that well, this time we tried sitting up sleeping in the front. Yeah.... basically drove most of the way to Crittle's with no sleep.
We got to an area near Crittle's and realized it was too early to show up, so we stopped at a lake where boats go off to go fishing... parked the car and found a trail into the woods. My goal - find a grass area where no one else was around and just lay down in the grass for a bit. These woods didn't know of grass areas... we walked, and made our way through many areas of the trail enjoying the sites... though both still dead tired we wanted a clearing to sit in. We finally noticed one, it was on sort of an island thingy... well not really it was attached to the land, but it went off being it's own bit of land.
We wandered out onto this piece of land. I took some pictures, we tried to lay down in the dirt with the roots coming from the ground and back down in, under us... it wasn't really a place meant to lay down at... so we didn't get to lay down long and no, we didn't get any sleep.
Now on little to no sleep... it's not normally a good idea to do things where you should be awake for it. Like crawl out on a dead tree in the water for a picture. I went out there, cause it looked cool and had Miki take a few pictures of me on the log, than I started to make my way back. I was smart, I took off my socks and shoes just in case... cause this was fall 1.... I went down as my right leg went into the water, knowing that the cold would kill my arm I used my right arm to catch me from going all the way in... oops... OUCH.... I had to sit on the log for a while after that, just to know that I could stand up when I tried.
Miki helped me off the log and we decided to move to the inside loops of this area, where we sat down at the top of this steep incline into the water. It was nice, quiet, and just a little area to rest... though no room to sleep.
We hung out here for a bit, but my amusement came when I decided to throw a big black ant into the water... I didn't know ants could swim. So I sat at the top of the hill and just watched the ant swim, till I saw it get taken by something fast! So I found and threw another ant in, sure enough it too was eatten as we realized the fish swimming around in the water. Oh this became the best thing to me... till I saw Miki dig up a fishing wire that still had it's sinker on it... I wanted one too... I watched her play with it and the fish following and biting at the sinker... so I found a fishing line, but it was stuck on something in the water at the bottom of this incline... so I went down, with shoes on... and got myself safe right up against the edge out of the water, pulling up the wire, and getting it unstuck... but I didn't realize what I was doing else where.
As the wire came free from the wood it wrapped around my legs and splash... this time both legs went into the water, shoes and pant legs soaked... *sigh* I get out... though I want my shoes dried so I went to hang them up near another tree where there was more wind, stepped on moss the wrong way -- *BAM* *SPLASH* That's right there was a bam first... some how I hit only my elbow and fall back into the water... the elbow on the right arm... talk about wanting to cry. It's bad, bruised and scratched

I got pictures of this....
I decided it was more safe for me to just sit at the top of the hill and throw ants to the fish... gave up on the wire and went back to doing that.
Though all this with no pain pills for the hike, and we still had to walk back. It was not fun, we got to the car and headed to wal-mart than Crittle's.
