Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, long time TMNT fan.  Here are some comic book style sketches of Raph I did just for fun, all are a little different in appearance, I was just trying to find a style I liked best.  Let me know what you think.  - Joseph

Here is a little practice comic page I did, kind of like a rough draft but with extra work, just to get a glimpse of what will work and won't work and to get an idea of things to change or add, I'll eventually put 4 full pages together to send to Mirage Studios as a submission, but the final pages will be more pristine and polished looking.

Oh, well thank you so much, though I will not discredit any current artist illustrating for the TMNT franchise, I do appreciate the kind words, the folks on this forum will be the first to see my finished pages so I can get some feedback, if everyone digs what I do, trust me I can use any positive feedback from the die-hard Turtles fans.  I value the opinions of those folks more than anyone else, as the fans are the people that will be reading.  Thanks again.

What kind of inking pens do you use? (or brushes, though..looks more like pens )

Well these are pieces I just did out of boredom, I have my own comic that I do called "VooDude" but ever since I was a little boy I've wanted to draw Turtles comics, be it a mini-series, or just covers.  I have used Bristol boards with sable brushes, but these are all done with Sharpies and Rollerball pens.  If I was doing commissioned work I'd make whatever I did a lot smoother than the above as well as add more detail, these were just time killers.  Thank you for the kind critique.

Here is a brand spanking new piece I did.  I was a little bit more serious on this one and put a little more attention to cleanliness, I'm considering using this as one of my submission pieces, I wanted all of you to see it before doing so though, it's hard for me to judge my own work as I'm very self conscious and my own worst critic.  Let me know what you think.

Nice graphic style. A bit like woodcuts, in its sharp delineation of light and dark.
Hope you will get to do a story for Tales or something! Would be nice to see.

All 3 are great!  I am digging the 1st one, its seems more like the Mirage feel.  Either way though, they are all uniquely awesome.  You could be an art director man.  Nice work.  Cool styles.  The trippy thing is, they all look like a completely different style.  That's hard for a lot of artists to do.

Man you got the Mirage comic style nailed.  Not only that but you seems to include a pinch of your own finesse and style within your work.  It would be cool to see you get something published by Mirage.  Maybe you can do your own few Tales of the TMNT issues.  I'd hire ya!  Keep up the outstanding work man.  You're definitely gunna' go somewhere with that kind of talent.
