Ok, Whovians, they've announced who will be taking over the role as Doctor Who.

It's the youngest actor to play the character yet, beating out Peter Davison by a few years at least.

And the winner is...

Matt Smith!

Yeah, not so sure how I feel about him either...

Hmmmm, does seem rather young.  Though, I find myself looking at most replacement prospects as 'too young' these days.  And I'm starting to think that perhaps......my perspective is becoming too sage...... Confused

Yeah, he is kinda young, but, who knows? (ha ha... "WHO" knows)  He may be ok. I've been reading some LJ posts and some people are so totally up in arms. I think those are the folks who would only be satisfied had David Tennant been announced as Doctor #11.

*shrugs*  We'll see, I guess. Not going to condemn things until I've seen the new guy in action.

Hmm, ironic...up until now, Davison was the youngest to play the Doctor, and he replaced Tom Baker, who was the most popular Doctor of the 'classic' Doctor Who. Now we have this 'kid', replacing Tennant who has won "Favourite Doctor" over Baker in recent years. Interesting...

Yeah, I've not seen this new guy in anything yet. But I do remember being quite upset when Eccleston left the show. Wasn't even that impressed by Tennant at first, but then it was like..."Who was that other doctor? Don't care now! This guy is... BRILLIANT!"  Wink

Yes, Tennant is Brilliant...    Love

But Eccleston was Fantastic!    LOL

Hee, I prefer Tennant but I think part of that is that he's been on 3 times as long as Eccleston was. The first ever episode I did see was "Fear Her" from the 2nd season, so I actually saw Tennant first.

This is true. If I were to base the fave off of the first two seasons... I would have gone with Eccleston. However, third and fourth seasons... Tennant all the way! Particularly with his best companion during the fourth season. Wink

#oHmmm. Well, Tennant can't help being brilliant.  He's an Aires.  Wink

But all that aside, the new fellow is from Northampton....on the other side of the Atlantic from here.  I'm taking that as a good omen.  Thumbs Up

Tennant is Aries, too?  That's cool. Woulda been better had he been on the March side of the coin, rather than the April side, but still...  Wink

And the Northampton connection is a good omen.

And darn... one day off.

Well, the April side of Aries is still better than 11 other signs, true...  Wink

Ah!  The space bar! *fights off visions of space bars in Star Wars and TMNT comics*

   Okay.  LOL

Yeah, Tennant has the 18th of April as a birthday.

Same as I do and that poor chap that was split into two grave sites.

Ooops.   And we're way off topic here, aren't we?   Happy/Smile

Same day as my mother and an aunt...

And one of that aunt's sons shares a b-day with me.

Nah, not terribly off topic, Ninjara...this IS the off topic forum, right?  LOL

David Tennant's birthday is 4/18, eh? How interesting. *nudges Ninjara* See? See? How do you explain that one?

I'm always suspicious of the new actor playing the doctor, especially since he seems to be getting younger and younger each time he regenerates. *tries not to think of the doctor toddling about and working the controls with little hands while spouting quantum theory astrophysics geekspeak

If this actor is naturally quirky though, it will work for me. Happy/Smile

Yeah, hopefully, #12 won't be younger than #11 or things'll really start getting ridiculous.

And quirky would be good. Supposedly, this guy blew 'em away at the auditions, so, let's hope that translates well to onscreen Doctor time.

...no idea what that means...   LOL

LOL *laughs at the mental picture of toddling Dr. Who*

How do I explain that coinky dink?  Ummm...*glances at Raph*  Well, all due respective to Raph's mum and relatives......err, maybe were all a bit daft from some kind of cosmic dust present in the atmosphere that time of year? <G>

I, um, well......don't think it had any connection to my last 22 years on this planet.....I tripped over Dr. Who before any Turtles barged in on my life. *sips tea*

Kind of fun going from room to room trying not to spill tea from one's cup.....

Hmmm, so Phoenix is Aires....and Aig is Pisces......new Doctor Who guy is Scorpio.....*drifts off in thought*

I think our new Dr. Who is going to a very magnetic one.....and exude much sex-appeal..... Wink
