I don't understand why you two would find that funny (I bet you wouldn't be laughing if it were one of your sites that was attacked like that...), but in case you haven't heard, it's back up now.  Anyway, welcome.

If my forum got hacked I'd dump it and start all over, to me it's no big deal. My forum sucks anyways .....(yers is a whole lot better than mine) I dont understand why everytime ya turn around some wank can break into to a forum that easily and beat the crud out of it. Where's the security? I'd ask for a refund  if it's that easy for someone to hack it. just ranting MHO....sorry.

That's easy for you two to say since you're not talking about throwing away over four years' worth of posts and members over some idiot hacker.  I don't know about you, but I would never let the hacker have the satisfaction of "winning" that easily, all while asking nearly 2000 members to sign up again.  Besides, restoring the database was not much of a problem at all.  The main problems were working with the tech support and rebuilding everything while plugging any possible security holes.  I wasn't even complaining about being hacked in the first place, I was complaining that people were laughing about it, which is very rude and uncalled for after the trouble I went through.

Prior to this, The Technodrome Forums have never been hacked in nearly 6 years of being online.  As long as you keep your forum software up to date, use strong passwords, and have a host who keeps their server software up to date, it's actually difficult to break into a forum.  Both the hacking and the virus were actually attacks on the server themselves (not attacks on the site), so the hackers didn't care who they targeted.  And both of them were caused by flaws with the security of the host's servers, which was something that was completely out of my hands.  I did learn from my mistake, though, and will be inquiring about server security before signing up with any more hosts from now on.

I'd ask for a refund  if it's that easy for someone to hack it. just ranting MHO....sorry.

...I still don't see how that justifies such rude behavior.  It's not my fault that you can't get along with the people there.  Besides, when most people "move on," they generally forget about the place, not continue to visit, then laugh when the place has problems.  Anyway, I don't want to argue here, so if you want to continue this discussion, let's please take it off the forums.

Ok, fair enough, I was just wondering why you acted so rudely in the first place considering there was no discussion whatsoever about The Technodrome in this thread until your comment.  But like I said, that's something that is better settled off the forums.

Up until this point, it seemed like you were agreeing to drop it, but again, this was uncalled for.  I have mentioned many times, both here and elsewhere, that the virus was a result of a server attack, was completely out of my hands, was taken care of as soon as possible, and hasn't been a problem since September.  There's no reason to bring up things like that unless you're trying to start an argument, which I have neither the time nor patience to participate in.  I kindly ask that you stop bashing my site/forums, which is against the rules here anyway.
