Would you go to a TMNT event in your home town, even if not a meet up with friends?

I know some people only seem to go to Turtle events if friends are there?  Same goes for conventions and so on...

I'm curious how many people would go to an event if none of your friends were there... just to enjoy the event itself.

I wouldn't go to one in my hometown without any of my friends there. Too many people used my fandom to humiliate me for many years around here. Only if I had the comfort of knowing I'm not the only "weirdo" there would I be able to go and ignore the idiots flapping their lips. It's a small town(less than 1500 people), everyone knows everyone else, and I unfortunately don't have the luxury of living in a larger area where I'm not going to run into these morons every time I go to the store.

I definitely would if there was tmnt stuff involved. As long as there is not other stuff that prevents me to go, example: Family events or group activity (chorus) preventing me from being able to go. If I can find out far enough in advance though, a few months, there should be no problem from me being able to go Happy/Smile

I would go to an event by myself even if not local, so of course I'll go to one that is local.  I'm not worried about people seeing me, cause if other people are there that means they went into the event as well and have no grounds for picking on me with... besides, I don't care if they pick on me or not.  Everywhere I go people already know who I am...

I just know that I will get out there to support the Turtles as much as I can.  Can't wait for this road trip to go around, already planning a trip to NYC.

I would go, friends or no, local or not local......and most likely, even if some life event got in the way, I'd try to fit it in somehow.  I get real creative when stuff gets in my way. Wink   Though Death itself might be a little bit of a trick. LOL

TN.......small towns.......yes, they sure can have a downside despite any pluses they possess.  Sometimes you don't have to do anything to earn the proverbial stink-eye.

Well, take heart.....there is appreciation for Turtle fans beyond the borders of your wee hamlet.  You have something to look forward to when you finally decide to leave for good. Cool

If it was in a bigger city, then I could go without anyone but myself(and obviously Earl Razz). Ninjara, you're right. It doesn't take much in these itty bitty towns to get gossipped about and I'm already enough of an outcast in my hometown to deal with one more thing on top of it all. Don't get me wrong, I do love my hometown, but the only thing I don't like is how appearances are everything. And everyone else but me seems to care about that, so hence why I'm an oddball.

If there were events in the Twin Cities area or even St. Cloud, I'd totally go. Just not in my tiny hometown(lol, not that a lot of cool things happen around here...it's pretty quiet). Other people might go, but there's a difference between going to be a fan and going to make fun of fans and unfortunately, I live in a town full of the latter.

And yes, I do take heart. Honestly, right before I joined the list(waaaay back when it was an email list! Long time! ;P), I really thought I was the only TMNT fan left on the planet. Then I find Ivey's email on Shredder's page, mail her, and the rest is history. It makes me feel tons better to know there are other fans out there, some older than me, some younger. But without others there, I still can't walk out in the tiny town I live in and go to an event knowing that most people are there to make fun, not enjoy.

Which is sad, really. If anything were to happen in the Cities, I'd make time to go. Money's unfortunately too tight for me to go anywhere out of state right now, but Minneapolis is only 3 hour drive for me and I know all the good hotels up that way, so I can easy make events in that direction.

This is an interesting question... I think I would go to any TMNT event that I had a chance and/or money to go to, local or not. I know I would go alone, but thankfully, I've developed a group of friends who are into ninja turtles (and I also have an awesome girlfriend, Jennifer, who is into TMNT that goes with me) But would I go alone? Absolutely. I've been taunted for this, yes (thankfully I didn't have the gut-wrenchingly horrible experinces some others have had) But I've always been able to take it with a grain of salt. Que sara sara(sp?) and all that. I guess my problem is that there never ARE many tmnt events in my hometown. If there were I would DEFINEATLY go, because I'd want to see/meet other turtles fans! Very Happy/Big Grin

Conventions... yes, I've gone alone and gone with a group. It's fun both ways. I like going with a group though because then when I start an entire bored auditorium of anime fans singing "go ninja go ninja go!" I know I'll have at least 1 or 2 backup singers Wink
