I know this will bring up several upset Raph fans, however, I think this thought might have some merit.

I don't remember where I read this but I had read someone's reasoning that 4Kids was indeed foreshaddowing that Raphael might become the next Shredder had Fast Forward never happened.  This person had gone on to explain that it has happened in one of the comic book series and since the show pulled many different ideas from the various comic books, this idea could have been one of the many that they pulled out.

My friends and I have re-watched the series and we all agree that it is completely possible that was was a direction that Raphael was eventually headed.  The original post that I had seen else where pointed out two main places where you can see the foreshaddowing and I find that the person had some merit with them.

In order to present some of this "evidence", I'm afraid that I must refer to the cartoons and pull direct moments from the cartoons so I'll hide these since I don't want to get into trouble for spoiling the episode.

1.) In the episode "Darkness Within", we see Raphael's "dream" was about him fighting the Shredder.  The mask and helmet comes of and we see Raphael as the Shredder.  This seems fairly random to throw into the episode without it meaning something.  The other three had dreams where someone they cared about either hurt them or got hurt.  How did Raphael's fit into that?  Was that possibly meant to be a foreshaddowing for the future?

2.) In the episode "New World Order" Part II, they turn into their dragon avatars for the first time for Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael which as many of us know are super powerful.  Once they turn back (this is after they save Karai), they're amazed at the strength and power that they possess in the form of their avatars.  After Donatello says "what just happened?" Raphael responds with "I don't know but I liked it!"  One can argue that this means that he enjoys power.  That is exactly how the Shredder got his start. Is it possible that since Raphael got a taste of power here that he would later become the Shredder?

These points may have been taken out of context and perhaps twisted around a bit but when you think about it, it does make sense knowing that Raph was the Shredder in one of the comic book series and the cartoon (Pre-Fast Forward) was mostly taken from the comic books.  Is it possible that this was just an unused idea that the writers were thinking about using whether it be for an actual season or even another "Same As it Never Was" episode?  Is it that this evidence was twisted around by some fan who had way too much time on their hands and twisted around the two points to match the episode?  What's everyone else's view on this?

Side Note: If the person who made the original theory is on here, I'm sorry if I have offended you.  Also, if I put this in the wrong discussion area, I'm sorry.  Feel free to move it.

I'm thinking unlikely, but maybe. I always saw Leo being a Neo Shredder as in my story since he's pretty much forced into it by Karai. Wish I could have a chance writing those cartoon episodes, I listen to fans and give them what they want to see. See my fanfiction story and see what I mean:

When my reviewers pointed out things, I fixed them and try to go deeper into each character and add development along the way. So anyone out there who has connections with the big-wigs and think my stories are any good for a more adult themed TMNT, let me know!
All the 80's fans of TMNT are adults and I'm sure some of you would like a more grownup animated version (or something) of TMNT. I hope to give such to the entertainment world of TMNT. Embarassed

Shocked  Raph fans upset?  Nah. Not this one anyway.  LOL

Don't cry, Misty.  It's all cool.  Wink

That idea comes from the Image comics.  Raph wears a Shredder-like mask because he's disfigured, and later, in issue 7, I believe, he begins to train Foot.

LOL That sounds worse than it actually is......you'd have to get the comics and read them to believe it maybe.

But.....since the Image comics aren't Mirage canon, and actually hooked into the 'real' Turtles..... Rolling Eyes ......it's, umm, an alternate universe.....no need to cry our eyes out over this.  The Image series was an interesting version of a possible existence is how I looked at it.

Anyway, I feel if 4Kids had used some of the material from Image in the cartoon, such as Raph governing the Foot, it would have probably been okay.  As long as the bulk of that comic book series wasn't used to take the guys way off into left field in the show.

I wasn't in love with that series of books, but they had some interesting scenarios.  Not that they weren't good stories.....no, Gary Carlson did good....and he's a great guy to talk with.....I guess I just don't like having Turtles literally in pieces. LOL
