Based on a true story, The Haunting in Connecticut charts one family's real-life encounter with the dark forces of the supernatural. When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner's clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover. Now unspeakable terror awaits when Jonah, the boy who communicated with the dead, returns to unleash horror on the innocent and unsuspecting family.  Written by Lionsgate

The true story of a family forced to relocate near a clinic where their teenage son was being treated for cancer. The family begins experiencing violent, supernatural events that the parents first blame on stress from the illness, but they later discover that their new home is a former mortuary with a dark past. Written by Borys Kit

An actor who we all should know is in this movie. Elias Koteas. He was Casey Jones in Turtles 1 and 3.

Ok, first the none spoiler review.

Movie was good, suspenseful and very worth seeing in Theaters.

Now, don't click on the little review button if you don't want spoilers.

I mean it, I'm not holding back

Last chance to not see spoilers.

Now in the beginning of course we don't start at the house yet. How it starts is the mom taking her son who had cancer back and forth over so many miles of road. So when they decided to get a house closer to the hospital I can't say I blame them. Specially when the drive back and forth is so hard on the parent and the child.

Now the house when I first saw it, thought that it was totally cool! It's just the mother looking and she found out from the guy selling the house why it was on the market for so cheap. Later in the movie they find that the place was a funeral home.

Of course in the basement when you couldn't see what's behind these door with the blackish glass windows, that itself was creepy there. I was surprised when the son Matt (the one with cancer) decided to make it his room. Specially when he saw something freakish on the black glass. If I saw what he did I would be so hightailing it up those stairs screaming my head off.

Now as the rest of the family moves in I'm just watching, waiting for something to happen. Little things did happen here and there but nothing too big yet. It wasn't until Matt was in the hospital for treatment that he meets a Reverend who is also getting treatment. This would be our Elias.

He tells Matt that they are in the valley of death which is why they can see the ghostly figures and such. Matt sees them more in the house and strange things then the others. The Reverend gives Matt his card saying he can call at anytime.

Now, I'm not going to go through and give a whole step by step of the movie but instead tell the key points for me that I loved and jumped at. Matt and his cousin (Or aunt or something) finds this box and papers in the attic. Inside of it are little trinkets from when the place was used as a funeral home and a smaller tin with odd flaps of dried leather like things.

They're eyelids cut off of corpses! And it even showed that part where the doc would do that! Man that still gives me the heebie geebies! EWW!

Then as things are really heating up, there's a part near the end where the mother turns around in her room and right in her face is one of the corpses. That made me gasp!

As we reach the end, Matt figures he needs to burn the house down and release what was trapped there. The souls of all the dead people the doctor stole, cut the eyelids from, cut symbols on the people to bind them there. The woden panel on the dining room wall.. wasn't really paneling. All around it was a fake wall where the stolen dead bodies were stuffed!

Can we say, gross!!!!!!!!

On a good end note, Matt's cancer disappears. :p
