Mindy's Review: Leo, Mikey, and Don are invited to Vanguard's spaceship ("1,263.5 miles above Chicago, Illinois"

) where they are trying to locate Johnny Raeburn (aka "Deathwatch"). Readers learn about Raeburn's background and how he was sent into space. Vanguard's staff finds Raeburn's location - ironically back in his hometown in Arkansas.
Raphael flies back to NYC in the aircar and wants to crash at April and Casey's apartment. He is met by a whack to the head and falls unconscious. He awakens twenty hours later with April mother-henning over him and Casey explaining that the kidnappers are trying to break into their home. Based on Casey's story about ninjas killing a surveillance team, Raphael visits the foot clan ruling council to learn more information and to thank them for taking care of April and Casey. The meeting is cut abruptly as gunshot is fired throughout the headquarters and Raphael finds himself being the only survivor and backed into a corner.
I really liked Vanguard and his sense of humor. Plus, Mikey and "Lurch" having a good time was pretty hilarious! It's great to see Raphael back in his bad-shell glory and cornered once again. Of course, we all know that he won't back down from a bunch of men with guns
