 :eek:To anyone who still uses mIRC, DON'T! My mom's work computer did a full scan on it and mIRC does contain a TROJAN virus. So I'm sending this warning to anyone who uses mIRC. Please pass this.

Yep, that happened to me, too. Had two virus-malware-something or other alerts last time I was there, which was a long long time ago... nothing bad happened, since the scanner canned them. :p

I'm still using it and my virus scans have repeatedly come up with nothing. *shrug*

Actually, that's just a false positive.  Nothing to worry about.  The issue here is that some malware uses IRC to communicate with the computer controlling the victim's computer, so your virus scanner treats everything IRC-related as a virus just to be on the safe side.  If you knowingly installed mIRC, it's not an actual infection and is safe to ignore.

Well, that's good to know. It happened to me once, and I had two malware warnings, and then haven't had any in the few times I logged on after that. But that was years ago.
