Hey everyone,

Something was called to my attention last Sunday as my mom called me and told me of something that I did not know about.  She went to Church and someone at Church mentioned that they saw me in the new "Ripley's Believe it or Not!"  "Planet Eccentric!"   Yeah... um, we had NO Clue I was in any book what so ever!   So my mom went and picked up the book...  great... right on the cover it says "Take a Look at the World's Weirdest Facts"......

Yeah this is deff different.... inside on page 119 of this book, it mentions me and the lies that VH1 spreaded like about me wanting to be the 5th Turtle and about me spending $5,000 in Karate lessons...     I did not know I was going to be in this book.  I will be writting the publishers of this book about this.  I don't know yet, how I'm going to handle or what I'm going to say about it, though I will let you guys know what comes up.  In the meantime if anyone wants to check it out, this book is in stores right now, it was published this year.   It's hard cover and the cover is 3D.

Here's a link to the book...

What the crap?  Well I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway but I definitely won't now.  I don't know how this kind of stuff works but I'd think that even if it was taken from a tv show they'd have to have your permission right?

Whoa!  Wait a minute, I do believe that you need to sign stuff in order to actually be in that book.  Especially if they intend to use your name.  Yesh...if VH1 didn't tell you about that then they're doing illegal stuff as well.  Sorry, just checked my text book in business law.  *looks towards the sky* The joys of law classes.

Ivey when you appeared on VH1 did you sign any wavers??

I know for different cosplay compititions before I have signed wavers that they may use my likeness without my express permission by me signing a form...

I wonder if it could be something like that?

I still find it VERY shady they would put you in a book witout even contacting you to tell you so... if I had any respect left for VH1 and that is questionable.... its completely gone now...

But VH1 doesn't own Ripley's Believe it or not... these are two different things.  VH1 isn't even mentioned in this book, so there was no credit towards where they got their information from either.  Ripley's has never had any contact with me at all.  I'll write them when I'm back from Ohio.

I'm most annoyed that they didn't even contact me about this.   Because if they did, they could of learned the facts.    >Happy/Smile

I always thought that Ripleys believe it or not was questionable on over half the stuff they reported. Now i know for a fact that a lot of it is bull. I use to think that company was interesting with the wierd and bizarre stuff but this is so not cool!

Actually, After consulting my law text book, you can send them a letter and sue them for quite a few things here.  WOW!  Sad that they can actually be THAT stupid.  I'd actually recommend sending them a letter asking them to take that out of the book or else you can by rights sue them (as long as your paper work says that you have nothing signed for them) for Defamation and slander (pg. 261 of Legal and Regulatory Environment of Business).  You could also get VH1 if you wanted for the untruths by declairing it Libel.  This is also according to my business law text book.

In the words of my great Law professor Dr. Monseau, "If you learn nothing from this class, at least learn what you may sue for and who to get out of a lawsuit in the court of law."  Wow!  I never thought I'd actually use that information.

Well, I've lost all respect for them.  I can't believe they would go and put someone in their book without their permission.  Well, yeah, maybe I can.  Things like this happen all the time, and it's a shame it happened to you, Ivey.  Let us know what they say in their email reply, if they reply.

Just wondering, did you ever hear back on this from Ripley's Believe it or not?
