Just out of curious what people think, since it is a little bit of a debate not just here on TMNT-L, but in other places I've been reading.

What are you personal thoughts.  4Kids series is now over, sadly we'll never see another episode of it.  As Viacom now owns it, and will be bringing out it's own series of Turtles, from the sound of it going to be based more on the original series. So this is it, the end...

But what is really the end?

Was "Wedding bells and Bytes" a better ending since it wrapped up more story line and left on a happy note for everyone?

Or

Was "Turtles Forever" which story and characters made sense, and a real fitting end to Utrom Shredder, not just him frozen on a ice planet.  I always had a feeling he could come back from that.

You decide, this topic deserves it own Post.  Let's have a friendly debate here.

Nnn... the semantics of this are making me bang my head against a wall.

"Wedding Bells" resolved plot lines. It gave us last glimpses of all our favorite characters. It left the Turtles in a better situation than they had been in for most of the series. It was a good ending.

"Turtles Forever" told a better story. It was a more satisfying resolution of some characters who had gotten pretty much dropped during the series. It gives you the sense that things aren't over. But the truth is things probably are over, and we're never going to find out what happens to our poor homeless NT Turtles, and, and...

 Bang Head

Can we pretend that "Turtles Forever" sort of happened in the middle of "Wedding Bells"? Like so:

~Splinter is rescued from the Internet.
~Then, he sees some Turtles on TV! And many exciting adventures are had across multiple universes!
~After that the Turtles go more or less directly to the farmhouse, and celebrate the wedding of their friends, and incidentally defeat another Shredder, with the help of their many allies.
~And then everyone lives happily ever after in the magical land of Northampton.

You know, I like that ending the best.  Very Happy/Big Grin

Honestly, I stopped watching BTTS about five episodes in. The quality of the animation paired with the hollow storyline had me avoiding it like the plague. But as far as Turtles Forever goes? It seemed more like an apology than an actual ending.

I mean really, TF is composed entirely of fanservice. It was EPIC, but it wasn't much of an "ending". It felt as though the creators were saying "I'm soooo sorry the series became so childish, comic-loving fans. Let's throw the turtles into Mirage 'verse!" I suppose the same could be said for OT fans, though they spent more time ripping on it than anything.

But remember, with Nickelodeon's purchase of the TMNT franchise, this isn't technically the end. It's the end of the turtles as we know them, yes, but there's still more waiting for us on the horizon. Turtles Forever was a bit like making a tribute to the old, reminding us of what we all love, and looking forward to what's yet to come.

Heh yeah, know it's not the end of TMNT, which is why it's "4K TMNT" cause sadly it is the end of that series.  Just as the MWS series had it's end back in 1996.  What ever comes now is new and not connected to these episodes.

I liked Back to The sewer more than Fast Forward though.  Donny had screen time and character growth Wink

Ah, I understand now. I wasn't sure what "4K" was referring to. 4kids... got it. Though technically 4kids didn't start the 2k3 series, FoxBox did up until Season 2, I think. *scratches head*

I'll have to check my DVDs. I know they're out of Foxbox at least through season one.

Anyways, I almost wish the 2k3 series had quit while it was ahead. Somewhere around the end of season 4, back when it was still amazing, would've been a great way to end with a bang. But I know that would've only left us starving for more.

In a way, I suppose it was better that 4kids sufficiently killed the series with bad cannon. It makes the "ending" a little less painful.

As far as Turtles Forever? I was glad it ignited a little hunger for more. I really needed that resolution to forgive 4kids of their past sins. The sad thing is that throughout the entire film, 4kids proved they really could have done better in BttS or FF.

Personally, I stopped counting the animated series "cannon" at the end of season 4. It just seemed to go downhill from there.

As far as BttS vs. Fast Forward goes? Fast Forward had A LOT of potential that was overlooked for the sake of convenience. Good villains, interesting storylines, etc. But it REALLY overlooked the characters themselves, making them feel very hollow.

From what I saw of BttS, they seemed to have the opposite problem. They paid great attention to the characters, but had really thrown-together storylines. I'm not quite sure which is the lesser evil, but I tend to choose storylines over character development aquired cheaply. I guess that's just the writer in me ;D

FoxBox was only the block in which the series aired on Fox on Saturday morning. 4Kids had always had it from the beginning. I don't know why this confuses a lot of people.
