Hiya all,
Welcome to 2010 with TMNT-L! Hopefully 2009 leaves everyone doing well, with great memories and new hope for things to come. It was a big year for the fans with the Turtle Bus going across the country and the news of the big sale from Mirage to Viacom. Let's all hold our glasses high to a toast for great things to come, and remember that we'll always have our memories of the wonderful things that have been brought to us in the past.
Let's get this Newsletter started with the news of a new TMNT-L Artist! TMNT-L has been honored to have Klork as our artist for the last few years, but, for the coming year, with a lot on her plate, she has chosen not to come back for the role. While we'll miss her talents on the staff, we look forward to our new artist.
Welcome cpBunny! cpBunny has shown to be a very talented artist, with a great style all her own. Please feel free to check out her work at :
http://alaer.deviantart.com/ Welcome to the staff of TMNT-L cpBunny, we can not wait to see what you come up with for TMNT-L art of 2010!
We'd like to extend a thank you to those that took action with the last newsletter and answered the welcome questions on TMNT-L. There are still over 100 members here on TMNT-L who have not yet taken the few minutes to try and answer these questions. This activity is really a way to help us get to know each other better. It helps with the Secret Santa activity, Birthday topics and so much more. Please, if you have not taken the time to fill out the welcome questions, stop by and do so. You don't have to be a new member to take part in this.
We're proud to announce that the TMNT-L Awards have once again taken place here on the forum. It's our way of saying "Thanks" to those who take part in voting on polls, writing reviews, and taking part in activities such as Thread Killer and Trivia! These people help keep our forum alive and keep TMNT-L a nice place for fans to come and have fun. And a VERY BIG THANKS to everyone who took part in TMNT-L for 2009!
Activities on TMNT-L
TMNT-L Trivia! This is one of our longest running activities on TMNT-L, and seems to be highly enjoyed by many of the members. Each week, a new Trivia question is posted about the Turtles with choices for answers. All we ask is the member gives the answer they think it is, no reason behind their choice. The following week the answer will be given, along with the next question. At the end of the year we hold awards for the person who gets the most right, the most wrong and the most over all answered right or wrong. This Trivia is not about always being right, but the fun of seeing if you can get it right even without knowing. You could learn something new.
Polls! There are a lot of different polls on TMNT-L, be them how much you like something, if you own something or just a matter of thoughts on a subject. Most polls on TMNT-L has the option to change your answer if you decide something later, like if it's a "Do you own this" at the time you first answered it, you put no because you don't have it at that time, but at a later date you get that item you could come back and change the answer on the poll. These are fun ways to see where you stand with different things on the forum and to see how many people are collecting items the same as you. We have a lot of polls in the TV and collectible areas. No topic is too old to take part in, if it's not locked feel free to revive it!
What episode is this from? This is a test of knowledge of the original series. Taking guesses are welcomed sometimes you could find that you're correct. The object of this topic is to look at an image, usually an animation cel and say which episode of the original cartoon series it is from. The first person to get it right, will get credit for it. Topic is started over each year, images are only repeated if not guessed right the first time around.
Thread Killer & Thread Saver! The two competing topics. Thread Saver tries to supply a daily question for people to have fun poking and answering with. Thread Killer steals the question a lot, though has a goal to keep going never going over seven days without a post. Thread Killer was started as a joke, but became a strong back bone of TMNT-L, were a lot of daily topics are talked about and people keep up to date on how each other are doing. These two topics while very much alike, compete and pick on each other fun spirit. Feel free to join in either of these topics at any time, you don't have to read the full topic for it will not matter by time you get to the end, they always change.
Our newest activity that people seem to enjoy goes to "TMNT-L Twitter" if you enjoy to Twitter, but don't like that it doesn't get to the forum, this is the topic for you. Just copy your twitter into it and post, or write up a whole new tweet. This way those friends you have on the forum that do not have a Twitter account and still keep up with you, in your day to day life!
These are some of our most active and known activities some of which has been with us for years, others are new. We look forward to bringing new activities to TMNT-L as we grow. Hopefully we will get around to having Fan Art Awards, there have been some delays in this, though we have not forgotten it.
TMNT-L Secret Santa came and went... though just because the event is over does not mean people can not come and see the presents passed out this year! We had some good ones, though not all presents have been posted yet. We hope that everyone who took part had a good time and enjoy their presents. If you would like to see the presents passed out this year please check:
