I know what my situation for turning negative is.  32 this year, feeling the weight of the world, and still living at home during a parental divorce (now complete) all had my mood deteriorating for the last 4 years, both in real life and online.

I think the sale of the turtles almost helped clinch it.    Sort of like the little company that could finally turned in the towel and divorced itself from it's favorite, and only, property.  Then the flood gates started to open.  So, I tore myself away from message boards for a good two months to try and improve my mood.  Apologizing along the way as I went.

So, that's my story.  What do you think the story of everyone else is, for turning so negative last year, and most of 2008?

Well, not sure what you mean exactly Shred, other than the TMNT were a place for you to get away from your life's troubles and now that's deteriorated.  Neutral

Pretty much went through that a while back. Wasn't fun. So much in the way of negative feelings were surrounding the fandom. Now, it's much better, and just in time, because there's a lot of stress and worry in my life as it has been the past couple years.

I've had to look back and trim out that which was causing me undue stress. And one of them was the fandom, in general, and few people connected to it who were taking things a little too seriously. In the grand scheme of things, I found this whole thing surrounding the sale of the TMNT to be very, very trivial.

Just keeping it real...

Same here, to be fair, feeling a lot of negativity in the last few years, both in fandom and out.

It actually started around 2005 for me, with a lot of personal things with moving from a badly-run, badly-kept apartment to a better one, a good friend turning out to be very dangerous and creepy who partially ruined TMNT and some other fandoms for me, plus family issues that have building for a long time, longer than I've actually been online.

Then add the stress of getting married in 2007 and I was in near-collapse by the end of that year. I couldn't even turn to TMNT like I used to(and I think a lot of us do when things go badly in life), because of what this ex-friend did, plus Fast Forward was airing(still not a fan of that run Razz), and I was growing more personally to where I realized that I had to back off from some things online that had been a part of my life for awhile because I no longer had time for them with all that was going on in my life.

I've healed now and things are straightened out again, to where I feel like coming back to the fandom as much as my personal time allows, but it was a very negative, rough time in my life as well for awhile.

As for the sale of the TMNT, I'll admit I was shocked and feeling a bit let down, mostly because like most of us, I imagine, I can't picture the TMNT without Mirage at the helm. True, it's probably just a trivial business matter for only Peter knows what reason, but it's still a shock to us fans because Mirage has been such a part of TMNT for so long.

It's entirely possible that it was just a nasty time for all of us, given the state of the world being the way it is right now. It certainly couldn't have helped, adding to whatever other small issues we all have in our personal lives from time to time. It didn't for me, and it doesn't sound like it did for you, either.
