To Whomever May Be Able To Help :)

Greetings fellow con goers! I have a problem that I could use some help and/or advice from you all if you could please!

I have 2 cons in the same month that I wish to attend. Youmacon, and New York Comic Con, which this year is combined with New York Anime Fest. As much as I would love to go to BOTH of these cons, I don't know if I can AFFORD to or not.

I would love to go to Youmacon because it's a good con in general, cheaper than NYCC (if even just by a little bit) AAAAAND, so MANY friends I haven't seen in a LONG time will be attending and I miss them VERY much!! Buuuut, since I live in Maryland my costs include not only con tickets and hotel costs, but travel as well. And I must point out, that my boyfriend David would really love to attend both these cons with me, so whatever con ticket and travel prices would be doubled sadly. So my questions for this con would be, would anyone be willing to let David and I room with them and split the costs? Also, do you guys think it would be cheaper for us to drive to and from this con from Maryland, or take a plane?

I REEEEALLY wanna go to NYCC, for the simple reason of I LOVE NEW YORK CITY!!! Also, this con tends to have a Venture Bros panel that I always ADORE, and lots of my friends attend this con as well. I'm interested to see how the combination of the comic con and anime fest will turn out as well, and I do think its a good price considering you're technically getting 2 cons for one price. New York isn't really THAT far away from me, it's about a 5-6 hour drive so traveling prices aren't THAT much for me, but it would help me cut down on costs if we could hitch a ride with someone. Also it would help out alot if David and I could share a room with someone.

I hope this isn't something that is considered er, improper to do around here, because that's not my intention of course. Just consider this...almost like an ad I guess?

~If you're looking for someone to share a room with at either of these cons to cut costs down and don't mind sharing a room with myself and my boyfriend (I promise we don't bite and know how to be considerate...no we won't be all mushy and whatnot together, I swear!) then please consider us!

~If anyone is going near Maryland on their way to NYCC if you're driving and you could possibly pick us up, please let me know! We'd be willing to pay for part of your gas!

~Any opinions on this would be great as well. Both cons are still several months away and I will not be able to make the decision if I can do both cons or not until I find out if people will be abe to help me  cut down the costs on BOTH cons to be able to attend them both. If I get offers to help out for both cons then I may be able to do them. If not, then I will only be able to choose one unfortunately. Just to let everyone know right now, if you offer me some help with one con (as in a room offer for example) but I don't get all the help I need to be able to do it, and get more help toward the other con, I may have to say thanks but no thanks, but I will definately let you know with enough time as to not leave you hanging.

I'm taking Grey Hound to NYC this year, so can't help with ride or any of that sort... I don't have a hotel yet, and was hoping to stay inside of the city this year so when I do figure it out, it'd end up costing more than the usual NJ rooms.  The place I'm looking at for a room is very small, and at the most can only fit two people (a narrow room with a bunk bed).  So sorry I don't think I can be help with that con at all.

I want to let you know that with Youmacon, I do not think Mike is going to be going this year.  Wanted to give you this heads up in advance.  I haven't heard mention of him at all.  I'm still not sure what I'm doing with the con this year, I'd like to stay at the convention center so I'm not traveling back and forth through Downtown Detroit... but I know I won't be able to afford that, as NYC is going to cost me way more than it normally does by doing the hotel in city.  So as much as I'd like to be at the convention center to sleep, I think I'm going to be staying home.  I know my folks wouldn't be happy though, if I have any male friends stay over... I get picked on anytime someone they know ends up crashin at my place... I'd really hear it if it's someone they don't know, or I would extend an invite there to save you on hotel space.

That's ok, I understand. I know you'd help me out if you could, but it's all good! I know Mike prolly won't be going to Youmacon, but I honestly really just wanted to go to see you, maybe Miki if she'd be around to attend, and another friend of mine from the area that will most likely be going. I know I still have a long while to make the decision, but right now it's looking like I'll just have to meet up with my  friends from that area at some other con, some other time. I'm still gonna keep trying to see if I can work things out though!

Miki has gone back out west.  So I know she won't be back for Youmacon.  

I'm still working on the NYC thing, I got a friend who said he'd share a room with me, but I haven't heard from him in over a month and I'll like to book the room.  The place I'm looking at is small, for a one person room it's around $600... though a two person room is $750 which be $375/person much more affordable for me.  So I'm hoping the person I'm looking to share with gets back in touch with me soon so we can book the room.  If he falls through maybe I can find someone else traveling alone who might like to share the room with me.
