Right off the bat I'd like to say that this is the episode Leonardo fans have been waiting for and in my opinion it did not disappoint!  I don't know if it was the episode itself, the PMS or the impending cold but I actually cried and squeeled my fool head off during this episode.  *L*

So many of us were right when we said that it would take Leo hurting someone he loved (or someone he loved getting hurt because of him) to start him on the road to recovery.  I literally had tears in my eyes during that scene, talk about intense!  With that opening it was very nice to see that the episode was still able to balance seriousness and humor.  I think that if The Ancient One wasn't so gaseous this episode wouldn't have much in the way of humor at all.  *L*  And while fart humor may be juvenile (well it is technically a kid's show) it wasn't the farting that was funny it was Leo's reactions.  I gotta admit I cringed when The Ancient One farted while Leo was carrying him.   LOL

The crying part came at the end, the whole tears of joy thing.  *L*

And because I'll freely admit that I'm a child I would like to throw this out to all the fans who loooooooooooved seeing Leo all dark and tormented:  IN YOUR FACE!  HA!  Time to find another favorite character to torture!

(I don't even really know if anyone on this board is that type of person but I know they're on other forums.  *L*)

That's Raph for you....
"So Talk!"
Maybe we should volunteer Raph for a Welcoming Committee....?

And you "May" post more later?
Somehow, I know you "Must" post more later. How can you resist?

As for the episode.

I had a feeling it was going to be a little out there based on that "odd farting man" we'd all seen on the preview. And yes, it was a rather Zennish approach, but it did come across a little too much to me as an overbloated Yoda with serious digestive problems. It was almost too obvious that man was going to turn out to be the Ancient One. I would have been more suprised if it wasn't him.

That said, I overall enjoyed it. If you could get past a few too many farts, there were some good issues in there. Though I really would liked to have heard the Yoshi story.....

(and now I must go to volunteer at a horse show, so I don't have time for more comments.)

I am kind of mad that they ended for break with this one. I don't really like crude humor so I wasn't very pleased *shrugs* I found it rather disgusting. I think they could have a better episode than this one to at least stop with. I know this episode really made my friend Wolf happier. I was simply bored and wanted to watch something else. I am sorry guys Season 4 is just not playing up to par. I almost want to go back and watch season 2 LOL

Yeah when I found out they were already going to play reruns (I know this was already mentioned but for some reason I thought there'd be another new ep before the reruns) I knew you'd be disgruntled Kazari.  Personally I've never actually watched a season of TMNT as it was aired so I know nothing of... mid season breaks?

I apparently need to start watching more television series.  I thought repeats meant end of the season.  o_O  I'm such a TV n00b!  Curse my preference for watching things on dvd!

What can I say? I  LOVED this episode!! This is one of my favorite episodes now! ^__^ I'm very happy with how it ended and you can call me Juevinille but, I  had a blast laughing at the fart jokes. *snickers* Every single lesson that Leo was taught in this episode was very well needed.  It made me cringe to see Leo getting his butt kicked but he NEEDED it. *nods* Also as Onna mentioned, we did call it, I just didn't expect it to be Splinter that got hurt.. but Indeed it was him. I gasped and cringed and nearly cried at that part. However, I'm glad that it happened.

The last lesson that he learned was the best lesson of all in my opinion. I don't think there could have been a better lesson that he learned than that one. As soon as I saw that thing take shape I -knew- it was meant to be Leo himself. All together very amazing episode, I loved it and would love to see it again. I mean, c'mon how much better COULD it have gotten? Leo cosplaying in Van Hellsing wear?? ;D Gassy Gags? Great Life Lessons? Leo on the Road to Recovery of being his normal self?? Dude! It's everything we've wanted! Er well.....*coughs* I wanted anyways ;3

I REALLY enjoyed this episode.... in fact it is thus far my favorite for this season.

Everything that was bothering my last week was made up for this week. The fact that Splinter has been so lackluster about doing anything about Leonardo's attitude was covered and I REALLY enjoyed it. While I wasn't happy Leo hurt Sensei (I mean who would be) I was happy it finally proved to him what he has been acting like.

I loved the The Ancient One, just loved him. This whole episode reminded me of a cheesy old Kung Fu flick. Just the absurdity of the humor and the lack of tack, the fact they presented Leonardo with a "Buffoon" to lead him that then turned into such an amazing and skilled teacher. The farting didn't even bother me and it an odd way the dynamics between Leo and The Ancient One kind of reminded of the film The Drunken Master.

*squee*

I am very happy that Leo is finally making a turn around in attitude..... I personally related to this episode a lot.... with some of my own issues I am going through.... and contrary to popular belief  I personally never liked angry, surly Leo and will be very happy to see him go back to normal.

I got a kick outa the ep...it was pretty obviouse the dude in need of Beano (though it was apparently a lil' too late to take it as if you take Beano before, there'll be no gas after!) was gonna be the Ancient One, but I still liked it.

'Course I gotta put up with the hubby imitating the dude...at least it's just the voice and not the more aromatic aspects of the character...

Was fun ep to watch, though the farting card was overplayed.  Eh?

Enjoyed the Japanese type music in the background, too, and some really nice dramatic moments like with Leo in the overcoat and hat, and the sunset and him walking on the path into the hills, so kewl... reminded me of the original series Kung Fu.  Thumbs Up (Lefty)

Hmm...apparently, my comments on this episode are required. Well, let's see...

My first thought about this episode was "What is it with Leos going to Japan?". At least Ninjara didn't go with him.  Wink

Ok, seriously...I enjoyed the episode quite a bit. Maybe the flatulent scenes could have been a few less, but what the hey. Especially enjoyed the opening scenes in the lair. Didn't look like Raph was thrilled having his own personality on display like that for him to see. Maybe this change in Leo will bring about a kindler, gentler Raphael? One that could be a happy member of a Welcoming Committee?

...Naaaaah...

Seriously, they balanced this episode well, in my opinion. The funny moments were well placed and didn't detract from the seriousness of Leo's quest. Although, as a fan of the Teen Titans, I couldn't help but see parallels between this ep and "The Quest". I suspect it's a common idea for quest-like journeys.

It would have been more of a surprise if the flatulent one had not been the one Leo was seeking, I agree.

All in all, so far, this season has not disappointed...just hope the reruns don't go on too long (although, I suspect it'll probably be till February, when the next round of 'Sweeps' occurs).

Happy, Leo? Want some chips?  Razz

I'm finally leaving my opinions for an episode!

I loved this episode i thought it was hilarious! The farting in it, when i first happened i laughed so hard, especially with the ancient one saying "Good one, eh?" I have a few guy friends who would have foudn this episode so funny!

As for what Leo goes through, well it was needed, even though at times i was wincing. I'm glad to see that Leo is on his way to the road to recovery.

And for reruns, yay, lets get them started! So i can catch up on the episodes i've missed!

Some replies:
Of COURSE your comments were required, because how could you not speak up about an episode that was mostly about Leo? Otherwise I might have had to invoke the Contract: Phaels v. Nardos section.
As for going to Japan, yes, it is a good choice! (I really enjoyed it there on my vacation there with my iado dojo group last March. Including the experience of sword training over there, too.)

As for Raph having his own attitude on display? LOL So does that mean Raph learns from Leo? hmm....Doubtful!  Razz
Hey, *you* said as much with your "naaaah"!

The rest of my comments I didn't have time for this morning:
I have enjoyed the story arc with Leo this season.
Because he's not just treated as a static "fearless Leader" character who just seeks "perfection", and is always in control, and has the Plan. <yawn>
He actually has flaws and lessons to learn, and in doing so, he grows. And because of showing a "negative" or less perfect side, because of making mistakes, there's more depth in the character because he learned from them.
I had wondered as one way this could break is if they faced Karai again, and he managed to defeat her. (I am guessing there's going to be more with her later this season?) So it was very sad to see Leo lose control to the point of hurting Splinter, and surprising for Leo to get past Splinter's guard like that, but he'd been prodded to the point of exploding. That's rather fearsome rage. (Raph might want to make note of that?)

As I saw it, the encounters Leo had were about breaking down ego and realizing what really mattered. So I liked that about the episode, it was rather Zennish to me. A rough way to enlightenment, but it worked. There is always going to be someone better than you, and always keeping a beginner's mind is very important to learn anything.

Now that it looks like the angtsy Leo arc wrapped up (at least it looks like it), I would like to see more done with Raph and Don as characters. Mikey has had some things thrown at him for growth, like his challenge to being Battle Nexus Champion. But even he could use a bit more, too.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

And now? Now Leo should be the perfect leader.
*grins and waits for the comments*
Thanks for the chips, bro.

What're you talking about Leo's ALWAYS been the perfect leader! ^__~ Just every now and then everyone can lose thier way. Leo just needed a quick reminder that's all! ^__^ Happens to the best of us.

No one's perfect so no I dont see Leo as the perfect Leader. No one on this Earth is perfect no matter who they are. All they can do is their best and that is what Leo needs to face.
