In this new TV series it seems that some of the weapons are changed.  Michelangelo's chucks and Don's Bo both have pop out blades.

If you'll like to know more about this, read up on Cowabunga Corner for details.   http://www.cowabungacorner.com/?p=866 (If you like the write up, please do press the like button and check out the rest of the Cowabunga Corner for other stories you may find interesting).

I'm up in the air about the new look, actually. The one teaser poster that was posted earlier, I'm not sure I'm thrilled about the design. But I want to see more before I decide if I like the look or hate it.

As for weapons, I'll have to see that other post to totally decide, although I will state that Bo staves could have blades in them. Not always, but they could. Sometimes they were one solid piece of wood(often to disguise the ninja as a monk, who often carried walking sticks/staves), sometimes they were hollowed out and filled with metal for weight, and sometimes hollowed out and capped to put just about anything imaginable in them. Knives, powders, chains, whatever the ninja wanted or needed at the time. *shrug*

Also, Shredder's bo staff in the first Movie had a pointed end, which is yet another variation of what one could do with a staff, even without hollowing it out.

Mikey's chucks though, never heard of that, so I dunno what to think on that.

I'm excited about the bladed weapons because it'll be a new change from what we've seen in the past.

I do like the fact that they will all have bladed weapons, but what's the point? I mean they necessarily don't really need them, cuz apparently they can't show blood in these cartoons. You see blood in Disney! Even in some PBSKids shows! How is TMNT any different? And look at the episode called "The Darkness Within" The red lighting made all that slime look bloody...ish. In the episode "Insane in the Membrane" Stockman's body is peeling and falling apart which is a little disturbing. I mean they don't need to make it gory but they could at least show some blood. Even a little drop from a bloody nose will be ok. just not really normal. But I'll always love the show.  Love

Yeah, I see your point here, Invader. It'd be pointless for them to have bladed weapons if they can't show blood. But, hey, this is Nick we're talking about. We'll have to see how it plays out.
