I never heard of that term "topicjacking."  Perhaps I don't know the rules and vocabulary of internet forums since anything I say on any forum site seems to be making people angry or mean.  I think this is just one example that people really ought to get off the talk sites, off the computer and go in the real world to meet people and do things, because I learned through other forums that forum chatting makes people meaner, ruder, angrier, uncaring, favortism in order for some to bend rules, and just down right nasty.  Perhaps the world would be a better place if it weren't for online talk, but more real world experience.

Sorry for breaking your "topicjacking" rule as if I can go through with the idea without being flat out about it here.

Topicjacking is a rule keeping people from taking over other topics or using the forum just for promotion of other places.  As of right now, you're the only one doing this.

I realize you want to talk about your website, but do you see me going into other people's website topics and saying "Oh look at Cowabunga Corner, it's my site and I got this and this" no, I don't do that.  Because it's being rude.  You're accusing us for being rude by trying to keep the rules here.  Though when someone has a topic about their website and see a reply, they think "Oh wow someone has something to say about my website" and they go into the topic to see "Well that's ok that you're doing that with your website but I'm going to do this, this and this with mine and mine is the better than those other sites"  Than you're just going to pizza off the person who was originally hoping for feedback about their site.

In other words, if you think that following rules is a bad thing.  Don't post in other people's topics.  Because we're here to enjoy the topics that have been started.  And if people want to talk or read about your website they'll go into the topic that has already been created for your website.

It's people breaking rules that upset those online.  And if you think it would be better not talk online, that's your choice.  But for the most part we don't have problems here or any of the other places I hang out as long as people follow the rules of the forums, groups, websites that they're on.  If you want a full listing of our rules so you can learn to start following them check them out here:

http://www.tmnt-l.com/index.php/topic,56.html

As you can see the rules was posted originally in 2005, so this is NOT a new rule that I'm showing you.  It's one of the originals.

Well I wasn't intending to break rules.  I was only thinking about trying to get people to visit my site as I have worked hard, long and creatively to get it to where it is now.
People getting mad over me, and of course it only be of everyone in the world, breaking the rules, but my experience with other forum sites, people will get rough and tough just for saying what taste in movies, music or what I do for a hobby is.

You say that people are talking online and it's not a problem.  I would argue that.  Sure some people won't come after you with a sharpened knife like they do on this other Ninja Turtle forum, I won't say what since I don't want inaverty break another rule, but I believe people who talk online are creating their own problem, and they don't even know it.  When you replace verbal communication with sitting on your butt in front of a computer talking with misspellings, short hand, initials, direct replies every day, you're creating a world of problems.  Verbal skills are critical in the real professional world, and that skill is being killed by Facebook, Twitter, MySpace-type sites.  It makes people look uneducated when they can't speak properly when it comes to being interviewed for a job, or socialing with others in the real world.  It's why I avoid these kind of sites most I can, except when I'm trying to get a quick message across.

I'll check over your rule after I post this entry.  Just calm down and be the same as when I met you in Chicago two years ago.

I realized that you were trying to promote your website.  Though if that's the only reason you post here, it's sad because this site is for friends to be supportive of each other in the TMNT fandom.  True not everyone replies to every topic... a lot of topics don't get replied though the view count shows that people are looking.  And we even allow members to have signatures which makes each and everyone of our posts an ad for our sites.  Though if the content of each and every message is just  promoting your site it's not going to get as many people to jump at it.  Because it's more like spamming.  True, it's about the subject of the forum, but it's still just using the forum for a billboard when message boards are so much more than that.

I grew up with little to no friends through out my life.  I was gang beaten in school, I relied on my family to be my support.  I did not think anyone out there was like us, and was really lonely.  The internet came into my life and I found hundreds of friends around the world.  So talking online?  Not a problem what so ever.  Ok, so people are using short text for twitter and facebook.  And some people talk like that in person, but even before the internet there's always been slang.  This is slang for a new time, and if that's how people want to live that is their choice.  There will always be places that promote proper English.  If you look around here on TMNT-L, we don't use much short hand.  I even double space all of my post just like I was taught in Creative writing in High School.

People enjoy the internet, people can find people like minded on the internet, people promote the stuff they enjoy on the internet.  People can find the friends online that they would of never met in person.  So yes, I believe with all of my heart that the internet is a great place.  I've met over 100 of my online friends in the last 15 years, and I do not regret any of those meet ups.  I have fond memories and people I can count on.  Before the internet, I just had my family and about three friends.  So this made a world of difference to me.

Now you go on about how other sites are mean to you, my question is do you see any other use to a message board than promoting your website?  If the answer is no, than that is why you're having problems.  People come to message boards to chat about different topics, to get to know other people with the same interest, to learn stuff from more than one output.  A website is great, but it's still one person or a small handful putting it together.  A message board is any free willed person willing to step forward and share their views.  And that is what some people look for.  And if they like your views on stuff and see your link in your signature they're more likely to check out your website.

I am and always have been the same person you met in Chicago.  Though if you look through the years I'm a mod here first, if someone is breaking rules I ask people to stop.  If they keep doing it, then they get warnings.  Everyone is treated equally.  You came into my topic about my web page which is right now my pet project that I spend more money and time working on, and went on promoting your website.  How would you have felt if I did that to you?

There's no point in it, the same traffic that looks at topics I post on here, look at other topics posted on this forum.  I'm not going to want to reply to you about your website in the topic that's about my website.  So did that upset me?  Yes.  As it would of upset me if I saw you doing it to someone else's topic, which you started to with the topic asking about Mikey's forum.

Now ways of doing this to where it works for you in getting traffic and not really highjacking topics is this... if you go into a topic let's say Review: "Turtle Tracks" and post saying "Hey everyone, I did a review on this on my website.  If you'd like to see my thoughts on it, here's the direct link to that review."  Post the link.   You stayed on topic, left it open so people are still talking on topic that reply to you.  It's not about your website, but leads people to your website.   In other words, it's the billboard that doesn't break the rules.

It helps the forum in keeping the review topic here alive so people can reply with their thoughts.  It helps your site get traffic and introduce more of your stuff to them.  Keep the message short, do not talk about the other parts of your page.  Just give the link to the topic that relates to the message and you're ok.

I will keep coming at people who break the rules, but that doesn't change me. It's my job here.  And all the mods have agreed upon the rules that are in the rule section.  If people take it personal that I'm enforcing the rules, than they're missing the point that it's a general rules for everyone.  It's not a personal attack, and never was.

You and I had the same childhood.  I hated my school years and I blame it on punk kids that wouldn't leave me alone.  This could explain why I have a tough time over the years finding a first job, because I grew up hating people for the garbage I was treated throughout my school years.  I apply for jobs where the personality meets my approval.

I only "promote" my website when I discover a new feature that I add, such as the latest which is upconverting Ninja Turtle movies and episodes in 3D.  I get a little excited, and I like others to see it, since it's a hard long project and I only want it to attract people, not repel them.  And personally I don't mind if anyone wants to link my site with theirs.  I'm the type who shares.  Maybe I just don't understand the Internet world.

Speaking of which, I only understand the real world better.  There's people that ruin their lives because they invest too much of their time and money into the internet world intead of going out into the real world.  In fact I saw one a few months ago on the news where a guy blames the government why he's a 20-year-old homeless guy, but this green-haired creep opens his arms and with a happy voice he admits he's talks on Facebook all day long.  If people want to talk online, fine, but I still say people should invest more time in the real world more than the cyper world.  At some point, you have to meet real people and use proper verbal English to talk, especially when it comes being interviewed for a job.  I will remind you that I didn't need the internet to meet you.  I went down to the city of Chicago to the Shellebration Tour, we met and we got along great.  That is the kind of communication and meeting people that I believe in because it works.  I didn't need the Internet to meet you and all the other friends I have in my life.  I got off my butt off the computer and went into the real world and met REAL people using REAL verbal skills.  Now I have to go and do something for the Battle Nexus game.

PS: Why do these pages bounce up and down when I type far enough?  I can't type properly and it's annoying.

You may have gone through a lot of crap like I did at school, though we are not a like on how we look at people.  I never hated anyone for the stuff they did.  I felt bad for them, that they'd follow people to do such bad things.  I never wanted to hurt them, when I learned Karate I never used it to hurt anyone not even when they would try to gang up on me for a fight.  I used it to show them I can handle myself, and the fights would win without them or me being hurt.  Hate has never lead my life, I like to go into all things with an open mind.

About sharing... we do share by having this area here where people can make topics about their webpages.  I was one of the ones who helped planned out the layout of TMNT-L in what sections we needed to have for our members.  I'm totally open for people being there to share their stuff.  We made this so people know where they can go here to share their sites and let us know when there's updates.  By doing this, people shouldn't have to worry about keeping it all in one topic.  Or going into other people's topics and turning it into "Check out my webpage" and taking over.  So we made it easy for people to share.  But that doesn't leave it open for people to try and take over other topics.

Now about the Real World.  It is really a shame when people assume those of us online do not have a real life.  I don't sit at home at a computer 24/7, I travel more than anyone else I know, unless it's their job.  Right now I'm in San Fransisco, CA, Yesterday I was in Portland, OR, tonight I'm going to be in Los Angels.  I have met over 100 internet friends in person, and everyone of them has a life off of the computer.  I have gone to the best places from people I've met online that has made my life a lot more exciting including the set of Ninja Turtles : The Next Mutation... the meet up was originally online through email, but it lead to me going to Vancouver, BC and hanging out in the Subway lair used in TMNT 2, 3 and the Next Mutation.

You say you didn't need the internet to meet me in Chicago, though the fact of the matter is... if it was not for the internet I would not have been in Chicago that weekend.  You would of never met me.  That tour was so low key in Michigan, I would of never of known about it.  I never saw anything about it on the news, in papers or anywhere.  It would of went right by me... and even if I knew about it I only would of went to the Michigan stop.  The internet made it so everywhere I went following that tour there was people to meet up and places to stay.  The internet has a lot of credit towards me being on that tour, so while you think things don't connect back to here, you're wrong.  A whole new world of information and people have opened up to all of us through the internet.  And if there was no internet, we would not still be in touch to this day after the event in Chicago.  I don't give out my home information to people I don't fully know... so no address or phone number would of been exchanged.

About meeting REAL people in the REAL world... it's a shame you try to split the two.  Because everyone online are REAL people.  Most of which have jobs, families, friends off of the net, and everyone of us has our own personalities and back grounds.  To assume that just because we meet here, that it's not real is leaving out so much.  Meeting people online is the same as meeting them in a mall or in line at a store, or at a concert... besides for the fact that we're typing and not judging each other by how we look.  We're all equal here on meeting.

About the pages bouncing, try a different browser.  I've bumped into that before, not often.  When bumping into it I switch to one of my other two browser.
