Mess with the best, get bapped like the rest!

« on: September 16, 2011, 07:21:03 AM »

Yes, Raph is having one of 'those' weeks!

In the last month or so, I've gone on an online buying blitz, getting DVDs from Amazon.uk, a watch from Singapore, a magazine from England, diecast cars from England and various LDDs from the US.  All but the watch and one LDD order have arrived no problem. In fact, the Amazon.co.uk order took a week, with a long weekend in the middle, so I was quite pleased with that order.

No, the problem is with the 2nd LDD order. It was held up shipping, due to Irene blowing through New York, no problem, perfectly understandable. It was a day or two behind my first LDD order, which arrived a week ago today. I get them shipped to my office, so that I can pretty much guarantee that someone will be here when it arrives. So, I wait...I check the online tracking...Monday, nothing...Tuesday, nothing... Wednesday, nothing...

Wednesday night, I check the tracking again on the USPS website and this is the last posted bit of info: "Addressee requested later delivery - item being held at addressee's request".  Well, isn't that nice? My question is, where did they attempt delivery at, because it sure as heck wasn't here! And, as the addressee in question, you would think that I would remember requesting that it be held. So, Thursday morning, I'm not in the best of moods and head for the post office next door to the office to see what's what.  Silly me, thinking that's the post office they would have held it at. Oh no, the girl there tells me, that would be at the main branch. Here's the phone number.

I grumble my way back to the office and call the number. I dial wrong and get the wrong number. Now I'm already not thrilled with using the g-d phone so this doesn't help. I try again and it rings 15 times - no answer, no answering machine, no voice mail...I hang up. I start looking on the Canada Post website and decided to wait till the mail is delivered today before trying anything else. At lunch I do the mail run, no package, no attempted delivery notice. Get some lunch (and not even close to what I wanted for lunch, which doesn't help) and I come back to the office to try again. First, the main post office - 1 minute of rings, with no answer. Then the toll free number from the website. Ye gods, I get stuck in "Press 1 for..." purgatory! After finally getting to the point where I'm waiting for a human, I get "We are experiencing longer than average wait times, feel free to try our website...".

I've tried the website and danged if I can figure out how to create a service ticket, I'm tired of the phone, so I hang it up. A coworker tries and gets busy signals, etc. By the end of lunch, I have decided that whoever gets my package had better, at least, enjoy it because I'm obviously not getting it. Mess with the website a bit more, with no luck. Around 2:30, I try the toll free number again, hold the phone to my ear listening to crappy music and repeated attempts to get me to use the website. Eventually tiring of that, I put on the speaker phone just as a human picks up. She looks into things and assures me that what’s on the USPS website is wrong, they didn’t contact the addressee (well, duh) and that I should get the package “today”. I tell her our mail has already been delivered and she say s that they have till 5:00pm. So I have to wait it out a bit longer.

According to Canada Post’s tracking, the package was sorted through the delivery facility at 7:00pm last night, so maybe, just maybe, the order will arrive today. Oy.

Ah. Yes. Mail and deliveries. Such fun.
Had a package delivered by Fed Ex once, and it got left at the wrong house. Fortunately the person at that house called them to tell them that it was not their package. Thank you, honest person...
The delivery guy brought the package to the proper address, tossed it at my front door and I heard the truck driving quickly away when I opened the door. He didn't even knock. I guess he understood what "drawn and quartered" meant, and wanted to avoid me.  Twisted Evil
For the most part they are decent sorts, but one guy I suspect keeps a bong in his truck, or... something like it, man.  Surprised

Sorry for my late arrival reply.

I remember sending something back to Argentina that I robbed with.  I bought a very rare CD on eBay, and the ending bid went for $61.  Yes I know I get sickly obsessed when I feel I have to have something I can't say 'No."  Anyway, I got, it came from Buenos Arese, Argentina, and I opened it up.  The double CD ended up being a fake burn.  The second disc was corrupt.  I told the guy through eBay that the CDs are fake and one is not workable.  Instead he just said that will send me another one?  Another one?  This guy has another copy of the same disc?  I call up PayPal and eBay about this, and they gave me information on what to do next.  So I'm doing it.  I search around for a cheap carrier to send it back.  I first went to FedEx, and they wanted $72 (a laughless joke) to send it back.  Are they out of their freaking gord?  I take it to USPS and they wanted $25.  I didn't like the price, but it's better than $72.  I sent it with the tracking number.  And for months (litterally) I and PayPal are monitoring the tracking, and it never got delivered, but indicated that it made it to Buenos Arese.  PayPal dropped the whole case by mid-January (3 month into) saying the since the item didn't arrive where it's suppose to, we can't issue the refund.  Like it's my fault they couldn't figure it out and the tracking didn't go past the customs.  In the end I spent $85 and 3 months on a bike in cold fall and winter weather for a CD that I, in the end, don't have and it was a fake disc.  I went after PayPal on every eBay auction I listed mentioning what happened in detail and that I will not accept PayPal under those conditions even though that bidders insisted using PayPal.  And I kept saying NO, I don't want to give PayPal money when they were looking for a guy who sold me a fake disc and they wouldn't return my money, a lot of money for nothing.
