Hiya I know this isn't really updated monthly I think Krang was up there for two months. Heh, I'm slipping.. hoping when my arm feels better I'll be able to keep up again. In the mean time here's the next Villain of the month. Though Lord Dregg is one of my least favorite Villains he's still the villain that the Turtles had to defeat in the original series before the series ended and he was around for two seasons. I would of perfered less time. My personal feelings of Lord Dregg. He had no reason to focus so much on the Turtles. He was an annoying Villain... and I really missed a villain with a reason to be in the show. I was never a fan of his or Carters. Infact my personal thoughts of the 1995 to 1996 seasons is that they didn't need to ever be made. I put those seasons up there with the Power Ranger cross over with the Turtles. Stuff the fans didn't need. Though just because I feel this way, doesn't mean I won't respect that it has been done and give the characters some what bit of credit. I know some fans liked these seasons, which is why this is my personal opinon. Please do not come after me for it. Lord Dregg did have a cool voice actor, and could of been a good villain if handled right. David Wise on a phone interivew I did back in the 1990's, told me that he wish he could of gave both Dregg and Carter more of a personality, though CBS was down his throat on how they wanted the characters. So everytime he'd try and give them the personality he tried to do, he'd be handed back the script for a rewrite. So I do think Dregg had proteintal... it just never made it to the screen. Any how this is our Villain for the month, feel free to make comments. What did you think of Lord Dregg? If you could change anything about Lord Dregg, what would it be and why? Would you have had Lord Dregg the Villain the Turtles fought in the Last episoide?

I remember the name of this villian but honestly, i don't remember much about him at all. The picture looks somewhat familiar but that's about it, so i won't be able to give too much comments on this unfortunately. I might have to look at the seasons he was in to get somewhat of an opinion of this character, then maybe (if i find them) revise my comments here

I also felt that the last two seasons of the show were unneccesary and IMHO, the cartoon was turning into a dead horse that CBS continued to beat senselessly. Heck, even Rob Paulsen got sick and tired of being screwed over so of coarse he quit, which really bummed out the veiwers when in the final year of the cartoon Raphael's voice was completely different.

While the 'red sky' episodes of the original run weren't the best, I still kinda liked them (no offense, but I like 'em better than the Next Mutation eps). Yes, some aspects were a little over the top (the new mutations) or out of character (April almost turning her back on the guys, so she could focus on getting stories) but ya gotta admit, Dregg did give the turtles a run for their money. His henchman, Mung...yeah, that one I could have done without. As for Carter (yeah, I know this is to discuss villains, but you did mention him first *G*)...another pretender for the "Fifth turtle" crown (and, despite the episode title to the contrary, I do NOT consider Zach to be the 5th turtle, either). There were as many people that could claim to be the 5th Turtle as there were people laying claim to being the "Fifth Beatle".
As for Dredd...definitely a great voice. It's too bad Wise couldn't have done more with him, he could have been a really good villain. As he was, he was greatly underutilized. Mike, did Wise say why CBS had wanted the change? I know they were trying to make the cartoon a little more like the movies, so maybe they figured that they needed a villain that would be a bit of a challenge to the turtles, instead of the comedy relief that Shredder & crew had become.

Gosh, it's been so many years since I've seen (as Raph called it) the "red sky" series (yeah, what was up with that? ), but I liked Dregg. I guess because he was intelligent and a welcome relief from all the comedy of the original toon (to me). He's not my favorite villain nor do I despise him. I do wish they could've fleshed his character out a bit more, but as we know now, that wasn't possible at the time. As I can recall, CBS dropped a ton of cartoon shows in '96 along with the TMNT. I have no clue what's being aired now on CBS.

I have to agree with all of you. I only liked the red sky series cause the Turtles in it looked like movie Turtles.

Most of the animation was very good (an improvement from the original series), but there were some questionable episodes where the animation was very sloppy. I rewatched "Turtles in Time" or "A Turtle in Time", whichever it was- that was one of the episodes with "iffy" animation.

I liked the early Red Sky eps, like the first season before Dregg and Carter. The later ones were watchable, but they were only OK. With the animation it was a tad sloppy here and there in the Red Sky, but at least it was more consistant than the constantly-changing animation of the earlier OS eps. I still liked the art styles of the OS despite it's flaws (esp. in certain eps) but I kinda liked the switch to the more comic book-look in the RS eps too.

Does any think that Lord Dregg who was in the 1987 Series in the final season may make a apperacne/cameo in the current series?

Exactly, dude! I mean I'd rather see Irma show up in the cartoon. She was a very popular character at the time of the original toon's success!

I'm a huge fan of Red Sky and like it better than the old series so I think Dregg was pretty awesome. He was a more serious villain than old school Shredder and I felt like he probably could do more harm since the show was becoming darker. There was on ep on there that he drained the life force from the turtles so they were actually dying.
I wouldn't change anything about Dregg. More episodes of him would be nice (without Carter) LOL. His voice was PERFECt.
